It’s not often that the SAG Awards stages a movie cast reunion, but one of the highlights of this year’s actors guild kudofest on Netflix was a lovefest for the 2006 romantic comedy The Devil Wears Prada, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt taking the stage Saturday to present the first award for Male Actor in a Comedy Series (Jeremy Allen White of The Bear won).
“Two things, I forgot my glasses and the envelope,” Streep began after taking the mic solo. She was then joined onstage by Blunt carrying the envelope and Hathaway carrying her glasses.
“It’s an age-old question, where does the character end, and the actor begin?” Streep began.
Blunt retorted, “Meryl and Miranda Priestly are like twins,” referencing Streep’s fierce Anna Wintour-like fashion magazine editor from the movie, a maker and decimator of dreams.
“I don’t think I’m anything like Miranda Priestly!

Roughly 30 hours before the red carpet opened for Saturday night’s 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Anne Hathaway was on the front row at the debut of Versace’s latest collection in Milan, wearing a red leather dress that echoed a design seen amid Donatella Versace’s dynamic, powerful designs for fall/winter 2024.
But all too quickly, Hathaway and star stylist Erin Walsh were back on the plane, jetting toward Los Angeles so the actress could appear onstage at Shrine Auditorium alongside Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, her co-stars in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. “We are going to SAG direct from the Milan Versace show; [Anne] is getting ready at the Private Suite at the airport,” Walsh exclusively told The Hollywood Reporter while still in the air, name-checking the luxury experience (rebranded recently as Ps) that enables VIPs to bypass the main terminals at Lax.

Stanley Tucci may not be searching much longer.
The actor-foodie says he’s “pretty confident” that he’ll find a new home for his cooking and travel show, “Searching for Italy.” CNN canceled the two-season series in December when the network ended its development of original documentary programming. “We’re talking to different companies,” Tucci told me at the premiere of his new Amazon Prime Video series, “Citadel.” “We’ll find out in a few weeks.”
The series received seven Emmy nominations, winning for outstanding hosted nonfiction series in 2021 and 2022.
At the time of the cancellation, Tucci appeared on “The Tonight Show.” “Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know,” Tucci told Jimmy Fallon. “But yes, I have plans to do season three and more.”

Gird your loins, “Devil Wears Prada” fans. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, “Prada” star Stanley Tucci said he would play his character, Nigel, from the 2006 film again if he had the chance.
Tucci, whose character was one of the top advisors to Meryl Streep’s magazine editor, called making the David Frankel movie a “great experience.”
Based on the book by Lauren Weisberger and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, “The Devil Wears Prada” focuses on a legacy print publication not dissimilar to Vogue with an editor-in-chief who bears a striking resemblance to Anna Wintour. (Weisberger worked at Vogue and as an assistant to Wintour before writing the novel.) Streep, a deserved Oscar nominee for her performance, Tucci, and Emily Blunt are among the magazine’s staffers, while Anne Hathaway played the film’s lead, Andy Mills, a journalist who gets a job at the publication and gradually begins...

The Elton John-Shaina Taub stage musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which recently ended a five-week engagement in Chicago, is “not ready” for subsequent stagings, John said today, seeming to end speculation that a Broadway or West End production was in the immediate offing.
“Devil Wears Prada was in preview in Chicago, and it’s not ready,” John said in an interview with BBC Radio2’s Zoe Ball, who asked if the show was coming to London. “It’ll be ready in about another year. We can’t get our theater anyways.”
In the meantime, the rock icon will focus on Tammy Faye, the musical he co-wrote with Jake Schears that opens this fall at London’s Almeida Theater.
Although John didn’t go into detail about what, exactly, isn’t working with Prada – he phoned into the radio show to plug his “Hold Me Closer” single with Britney Spears...

Exclusive: The pre-Broadway engagement of the Elton John-Shaina Taub musical The Devil Wears Prada is showing its fashion sense for the first time in Prada-appropriate stylized photos provided exclusively to Deadline.
See the pictures below.
The musical, which begins a limited five-week Chicago engagement on July 19, stars Beth Leavel as Miranda Priestly and Taylor Iman Jones as Andy Sachs – the roles played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 film version – and the new photos show the actors looking suitably chic as the iconic fashionistas.
In case you somehow missed Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling 2003 novel or the subsequent hit film, The Devil Wears Prada tells the story of young Andy Sachs (Jones) who has just landed a dream job at the fashion bible Runway Magazine. The dream, of course, turns nightmarish thanks to the tyrannical rule and rigidly high standards of Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Leavel), an Anna Wintour-ish diva who takes no prisoners.

Obliviousness, for spring? How original.
In a new biography of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, sources claim that Wintour told then managing editor Laurie Jones that she had no idea who her past assistant was that penned novel “The Devil Wears Prada.” It was only until the book was adapted for the big screen starring Meryl Streep in the allegedly Wintour-inspired role that the Vogue icon took notice.

It's been over 15 years since "The Devil Wears Prada" first strutted into our lives as a fully-formed classic. The film is many things to many people: a sartorial coming-of-age story, a highbrow chick flick, a reckoning for the sacrifice that comes with climbing the ladder of success. The story is told through the eyes of Anne Hathaway's fashion-averse Andy, but in many ways, it is also about Meryl Streep — or Streep's now-iconic antihero Miranda Priestly.

Paul Rudnick‘s “Playing The Palace” has been years in the making. The novel follows a New York City event planner named Carter Ogden who unexpectedly sparks a love affair with Edgar, the openly gay Crown Prince of England.
After working on the first draft for almost a year, Rudnick revealed that he spent many months revising the romantic comedy with editor Cindy Wong during the pandemic. The novel seems to have been released at the right time as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently making the royal family more accessible than ever before. The author joked that the Duke of Sussex himself would be a perfect casting to play Edgar.
“I am convinced that this just happened in reality,” Rudnick cracked Tuesday during a Strand Book Store virtual conversation with Variety‘s senior culture and event editor Marc Malkin. “I think that is certainly Harry’s next step and I would welcome it.

I have a clutch of comfort-blanket movies, but this is currently my favourite, and I blush to think I once derided it. Meryl Streep is imperishably enjoyable in this adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s novel, reportedly inspired by Anna Wintour. Anne Hathaway plays the callow college grad who flukes a job at the colossally prestigious fashion magazine Runway, edited by Streep’s terrifying Miranda Priestly, the boss from hell. Stanley Tucci is wonderful as her long-serving, longsuffering senior executive and this was the film that launched the elegant Emily Blunt on the world, as the super-snobbish fashionista who is to be Hathaway’s unwilling guide. A writer writes, but there’s no evidence that Joanna Rakoff can even type when she takes the job as an assistant working for literary agent Phyllis Westberg in “My Salinger Year.” Because Rakoff went on to pen a book-length memoir about her time working for Westberg, who represented reclusive writer J.D. Salinger, we can rest assured that she eventually achieved her goal, but her story is less like Lauren Weisberger’s novelized “The Devil Wears Prada” than it is Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” which is to say, , played here by Margaret Qualley.
In late 1995, Joanna Rakoff landed a job for which countless readers would kill: She found herself in the position to answer a phone and hear, on occasion, Salinger’s voice on the other end. Emily Blunt makes her horror film debut today in theaters nationwide — starring in husband John Krasinski’s “A Quiet Place” — but she’s torn about whether she wants to reprise her breakout role in “The Devil Wears Prada.” During an appearance on “The Jess Cagle Interview,” Blunt said about a possible sequel to the 2006 film, “If everyone did it I would be up for it,” then added, “I don’t know” if there’s going to be a second film. “I almost hope it doesn’t [happen] because I think sometimes when you sequel everything kind of dilutes how special the original is.” (A source close to the studio said no sequel was in the works.)

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ At 10: Meryl Streep and More on How Their Risky Project Became a Massive Hit
Ten years ago, “The Devil Wears Prada” surprised even the people that made it. The movie opened over the July 4th weekend in 2006 as a counter-programmer aimed primarily at women. But it played far broader than that, all over the world. Based on the bestseller written by Lauren Weisberger, the ex-Vogue assistant to editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it was an anomaly that influenced movies to come but remained a rare bird, hard to categorize or imitate.
It wasn’t a standard-issue studio genre, neither a romantic comedy centered around a young woman’s choice of mate, a biopic, nor a revenge plot. Aspiring young assistant Andy (Anne Hathaway) and her powerful editrix boss Miranda (Meryl Streep) were dual protagonists in a coming-of-age workplace fairy tale about the trials of a first job and finding your identity.

Based on Lauren Weisberger's bestselling tale of bitchiness and backstabbing, this glossy satire comes with stiletto-sharp humour and plenty of Sex And The City appeal.
