For the first time since 2005, Fox is changing the schedule for its long-running adult animated series Family Guy. However, the move has many fans scared that the network might be considering canceling the popular series.
Here is what you need to know about when Family Guy will return to Fox, the reason for the schedule change, and if this means the network is canceling it.
Family Guy Not Coming Top Fox This Fall
The networks have released their Fall 2024 schedule and Family Guy is not listed on the schedule. This has many fans thinking Fox will cancel the show. Fans have been worried since Seth MacFarlane announced he was no longer writing the series and was just working as a voice talent.
However, there is some good news for fans of the animated series. Fox is not canceling the show. Instead, Family Guy will be a mid-season show, which means it will arrive in January.

Exclusive: After a long journey across broadcast, cable and streaming, defying the odds multiple times, Nasim Pedrad’s praised coming-of-age comedy series Chad is coming to an end. A spokesperson for the Roku Chanel, which released Chad’s second season, confirmed to Deadline that the streamer will not be proceeding with future seasons.
Roku originally had committed to taking on the finished but unaired second season of Chad (along with Season 1 repeats), so a Season 3 was considered a long shot but a possibility. It is now not happening, officially ending the show’s wild ride.
Chad‘s origins date back more than eight years when SNL alumna Pedrad started developing the comedy for Fox. The broadcast network picked up the half-hour, starring Pedrad as teen Persian-American boy Chad Amani, to pilot in February 2016.

The 16 seasons and counting of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are filled to the brim with unforgettable moments, from a musical proposal to Frank bursting out of a couch. However, it seems the one thing the internet will truly never let die is Charlie's Pepe Silvia monologue in the season 4 episode "Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack."
In this misadventure, Charlie and Mac get office jobs working in a mailroom in order to secure health insurance. When Charlie attempts to deliver mail to Pepe Silvia, an employee who seemingly does not exist, the mystery drives him to pin up the mail on a corkboard connected by string, much like a detective solving a murder case. When Mac returns to the mail room from impersonating another employee upstairs, he finds Charlie embroiled in this conspiracy, chainsmoking cigarettes and ranting about Pepe Silvia in a now-famous monologue that has since been memed millions of times over.

This week, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is uniting with another 2000s TV staple, “Breaking Bad.” Season 16’s “Celebrity Booze: The Ultimate Cash Grab,” which is set to premiere Wednesday, June 28, will follow the gang as they meet Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who play themselves in the episode.
In the clip, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Mac (Rob McElhenney) have a plan in store for Paul and Cranston as they make an appearance in Philly to launch their own celebrity liquor label, Dos Hermanos. But that scheme comes to a screeching halt when Paul refuses to shake Dennis’ hand.
“I really don’t mind shaking his hand,” Cranston whispers to his former AMC co-star.
“How many times do I have to go through this? We’re not shaking hands,” Paul responds. The short moment is a complete about-face from the dynamics between Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

TBS has given a 10-episode series pickup to Chad, Nasim Pedrad’s single-camera comedy pilot starring the Saturday Night Live alumna as a 14-year-old pubescent Persian boy.
The order marks a happy ending to the project’s long journey to the screen, which was first developed at Fox and 20th Century Fox TV four years ago and went to pilot. TBS’ version of the project, which has been reworked for cable, comes from Studio T. (See teaser above).
In Chad, the title character (Pedrad) navigates his first year of high school on a mission to become popular. Saba Homayoon (Mistresses) and Paul Chahidi (This Country) are set opposite Nasim Pedrad and Jake Ryan in Pedrad’s TBS comedy pilot Chad. Alexa Loo (Rogue) and Ella Mika (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) round out the series regular cast.
Created and written by Pedrad, Chad is a single-camera Middle Eastern family comedy that follows a 14-year-old Persian boy (Pedrad) during high school as he desperately tries to fit in, cope with his mother’s dating life and reconcile his cultural identity.
Homayoon portrays Naz, Chad’s mother, an attractive, overwhelmed but loving mother of two who is just now venturing out into the dating world after her divorce — a situation that her son is finding difficult to accept. She steps up to soothe and reassure Chad after he has an unsettling encounter with an older girl from his school.

Eighth Grade standout Jake Ryan is set as a lead opposite Nasim Pedrad in TBS comedy pilot Chad.

Ryan will play Peter, Chad’s (Pedrad) best friend, a sweet nerd who has nothing to prove and is “unbothered that puberty is destroying him.” Peter has no particular angst about attending his first day at high school. He is content with not being popular and is ready to have a great time, unlike the neurotic Chad.
Pedrad is exec producing and co-showrunning with Hayes Davenport. 3 Arts’ Oly Obst and Rob Rosell also serve as executive producers.

“Bless This Mess,” the single-camera comedy co-created by Lake Bell and Elizabeth Meriwether, has been ordered to series at ABC, Variety has learned.
The series had previously been in contention at Fox and is a co-production between 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios. Bell also stars in the series alongside Dax Shepard. In the series, a newlywed couple’s plan to ditch big city living for a simpler life in Nebraska doesn’t go as expected. It will air in 2019 and has received a six-episode order.
“Bell and Shepard headline a stellar cast in this hilarious take on a classic fish-out- of- water story that we found irresistible,” said Karey Burke, the newly-minted president of ABC Entertainment.
Meriwether and Bell are both executive producers on the series as well along with Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar, Shepard, and Katherine Pope. Bell also directed the pilot.

Single-camera comedy Bless This Mess has been picked up to series by ABC. I hear the show, starring Lake Bell and Dax Shepard, has received a six-episode order to air this coming midseason.
Bless This Mess, created/executive produced by Bell and Elizabeth Meriwether, originated at 20th Century Fox TV and was set up at Fox where it received an off-cycle pilot order early this year. The pilot, directed by Bell, was delivered to the network a couple of months ago, with top Fox brass said to have been high on it. With the network’s ownership (and leadership) in transition, the pickup decision was put off but as the cast options were expiring this month, a call had to be made.

Michael Thorn is heading into his first full development season as entertainment president of Fox Broadcasting Co. And it’s no ordinary development season. As Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden put it, it’s a “transitional year” for the network, which will move from being a vertically integrated to independent broadcaster with no affiliated studio.
During the Fox TCA executive session, Walden noted that this coming development season, Fox will be significantly reducing its dependence on 20th Century Fox TV, from 90% of its development last year to 50% as it boosts its collaborations with independent studios like Warner Bros. TV, Sony TV, Lionsgate TV and MGM.
Alongside that, there also will be a reduced volume of the projects Fox buys this season while it maitains the same number of pilots.

Kaitlin Olson could be back in the Fox fold fast enough to leave fans flabbergasted.
Olson, who starred in the recently canceled Fox single-cam comedy “The Mick,” has been cast in a lead role in the untitled Rob McElhenney-Rob Rosell multi-cam pilot currently in the works at the broadcaster.
Olson joins previously announced cast member Leah Remini. The series follows Jean (Remini), who considers herself a patriot who loves her country and firmly believes in everyone’s right to be left alone. Jean in many ways fits the stereotype of a typical conservative. However, she leads a very progressive lifestyle as she is now married to a woman, Birdie (Olson). Together they’re raising Jean’s two boys with the help of the boys’ father and Jean’s ex-husband, Richie, who currently lives in the garage.

“Ghosted” has been canceled at Fox after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The single-camera freshman comedy premiered in fall 2017. It starred Craig Robinson and Adam Scott as “polar opposite” partners hunting down the paranormal.
The series, which was created by Tom Gormican, also starred Ally Walker, Adeel Akhtar and Amber Stevens West. Gormican executive produced, alongside Robinson, Scott, Kevin Etten, Naomi Scott, Mark Schuman and Oly Obst. “Ghosted” was produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
The show was never able to gain much traction in the ratings, with the first season averaging a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers in Live+Same Day. Fox had picked it up for an additional six episodes on top of its original 10 episode order and brought on “The Office” alum Paul Lieberstein to take over as showrunner from Etten in order retool it as more of a workplace comedy. The network ended up...

Fox has officially ghosted on “Ghosted” after just one season.
The Adam Scott and Craig Robinson-led comedy from creator Tom Gormican has been canceled by the broadcast network, less than a week after airing its first season finale — which will now be its last.
An individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap that, while the network was “proud of the show,” the addition of “Thursday Night Football,” as well as new comedies on Fridays and Sundays, and the large amount of returning shows next season, Fox’s schedule couldn’t accommodate a second season of “Ghosted.” However, a few unaired episodes from the first season may still become available for viewing at a later date.

It’s official: Fox will have a clean live-action comedy slate next season with no returning series. The network has formally canceled Ghosted, its last remaining series that was still awaiting word on renewal.
Ghosted‘s cancellation had been considered a foregone conclusion but Fox postponed the decision until after the comedy returned for the remainder of its freshman season earlier this month. With the options on the cast expiring this coming weekend, the network was prompted to act.
Described as a comedic X-Files, Ghosted, starring Adam Scott and Craig Robinson, had an Ok ratings start in its October 1 premiere as a lead-out from The Simpsons but quickly lost steam. In late November, though, Fox ordered six more episodes of the paranormal action comedy and brought in Robinson’s former The Office co-star/Ep Paul Lieberstein as new showrunner to oversee a creative shift toward grounding the show as more of a workplace comedy.

Leah Remini just landed herself a very patriotic TV role — and on Flag Day, no less!
The actress has been tapped to star in an untitled comedy pilot at Fox, penned by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia scribes Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell.
The potential series stars Remini as Jean, a self-described patriot who loves her country and firmly believes in everyone’s right to be left alone. Though she fits the stereotype of a typical conservative, Jean leads a very progressive lifestyle and is now married to a woman, who helps Jean raise her two sons, as does...

It’s official: Last Man Standing will be back. A year after it was canceled by ABC, Fox has closed deals to bring back the multi-cam comedy starring Tim Allen for premiere during the 2018-2019 season.
The bulk of the show’s core cast is back, including Allen, Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders and Jordan Masterson. I hear co-star Hector Elizondo also has a deal in place to come back. His casting is currently in second position to his NBC comedy pilot Guess Who Died who is not expected to go forward at the network.
As Deadline previously reported, Lms producer 20th Century Fox TV had been in talks with sibling Fox Broadcasting Co. for a new season of the series, which will be its seventh, with Allen locked in to return.
Created by Jack Burditt, Last Man Standing stars Allen as Mike Baxter, a married father of three girls,...
