The report is heavy with TV series because, as the company noted, the amount of hours in a TV program are much greater than that of a standalone feature. But some movies clawed to the top of the ranking, which helps indicate how films travel on the platform.
Here are the top ten films – eight of which Netflix developed or financed — that appear in the report, which tracked hours watched from January to June of 2023:

It looks like Lil Wayne and Kameron Carter are the Lakers' good luck charms. The rapper and his 13-year-old son cheered on the basketball team to victory as they faced off against the Phoenix Suns in Los Angeles on March 22. The father-son duo had front-row seats to the action and enjoyed some courtside snacks during the game. Football player Odell Beckham Jr. sat next to them for part of the game, and several other celebrities were also in attendance, including LeBron James (who is currently injured), Jeremy Piven, and Chevy Chase.
This isn't the first time Lil Wayne and Kameron have supported the Lakers. They've attended several games through the years, most recently in January to watch them take on the Dallas Mavericks. The lookalike pair also made a splash at the 2022 ESPYs in July, where they walked the red carpet together in matching black outfits.

Los Angeles, March 13 (Ians) Hollywood star Will Smith was spotted paying a visit to life coach Jay Shetty over the weekend, after being banned from attending the 95th Academy Awards.
Following the tradition, the 54-year-old actor should have been invited to this year’s ceremony to present the award for Best Actress after taking home the Best Actor award in 2022, reports Mirror.co.uk.
However, Will was given a 10-year ban from attending the Oscars after storming onstage and slapping Chris Rock for a joke the comedian made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Mirror.co.uk further states that the ‘Men In Black’ star was instead joined by his family as he went to visit 35-year-old Jay in Los Angeles.
Jay shared a snap of the meeting on Instagram, which saw him posing next to Will, Jada, Gammy Norris and Lauren London at his ‘Love Rules’ show.

The next big Netflix movie ‘You People’ is packed with recognizable stars, but the breakout performer is Travis Bennett. The one-time Odd Future DJ and hype man keeps turning in progressively stronger performances. And he’s capable of trading punches with some of the funniest movie stars in the business.
Bennett has a lot of fans these days. Few are quite as dedicated to watching his rise as one person in particular, though: his mom.

Nobody’s more excited to see Bennett’s emergence as a go-to comedic actor than his mother. She’s always around for his premieres, and she made a point of visiting the set of You People last year. Bennett recounted the silly story on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which was shared on YouTube.

A Los Angeles judge on Wednesday sentenced the man convicted of gunning down Nipsey Hussle to 60 years to life in prison after hearing testaments to the immense cost of the killing of the hip-hop star and neighbourhood leader, and of the lifetime of mental illness, abuse and struggle of the man who shot him.
Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke II handed down the sentence to Eric R. Holder Jr., 33, who was found guilty of the 2019 first-degree murder of the 33-year-old Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist outside the clothing store Hussle founded, the Marathon, in the South Los Angeles neighbourhood where both men grew up in very similar circumstances.
“I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder’ mental health,” Jacke said. “I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”

Kenya Barris, the creator-writer-producer behind titles like “Black-ish,” “Grown-ish” and “America’s Next Top Model,” has proven himself to be one of television’s most reliable hitmakers. More importantly, he knows how to get people talking.
On Jan. 23, Barris made his directorial debut with “You People.” The comedy instantly soared to the top of the Netflix charts, racking up more than 65.61 million viewing hours to date. That number is proportionate to the avalanche of heated posts, op-eds and reviews that flooded the internet as soon as the trailer dropped.
A modern take on the forbidden lovers’ tale, with a heavy amount of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “You People” finds an interracial couple at the crosshairs of the culture wars. Ezra is white and Jewish; Amira (Lauren London) is Black and Muslim. These differences prove disastrous when it comes to their families. In Netflix romcom You People, the two leads allegedly share a CGI kiss at the end, a strange forewarning of what big stars might demand in the future
As a film, Netflix’s You People raises all manner of questions. Questions like “Do we really need an update of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner in 2023?” and “Shouldn’t a 2023 remake of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner have more to say than this?” and “Shouldn’t the leads of an expensive streaming romcom have more chemistry than Jonah Hill and Lauren London, two actors who for much of the film look like strangers who literally just met in an elevator and don’t particularly like each other very much?”
But the question “Did they actually kiss?” probably shouldn’t be one of those questions. Because, after all, we can see that they do. Right at the end, Hill and London get married,...

You People ends with a romantic moment between leads Jonah Hill and Lauren London, but one member of the Netflix movie’s team claims it was never actually filmed.

James Norton has hit out at Rishi Sunak’s plan to make school pupils study Maths until the age of 18.
The Happy Valley star spoke about the need to “nurture arts and humanities” in order to not “waste” the UK’s “cultural heritage”.
Sunak spoke in early January about his proposed change to the education system, which would not be implemented until after the next general election, should he win.
During an appearance on The News Agents podcast, Norton was asked how best to open up the arts to children across the country.
He replied: “Well, first thing you do is you don’t follow Rishi Sunak’s advice and make everyone take maths through to A Level and you nurture arts and humanities all the way through school and allow kids to take on courses which aren’t necessarily as practical and vocational.

Netflix’s You People hasn’t garnered the strongest reviews overall, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t discussion going on surrounding the rom-com. The focus of the conversation surrounds a kiss between stars Jonah Hill and Lauren London…or should we say alleged kiss, as You People appears to have digitally manipulated it to only make it appear that Hill and London smooched.
According to You People supporter Andrew Schulz, the kiss between Hill and London at the end of the movie wasn’t real at all, but computer-generated. “The final scene, they don’t even kiss. It’s CGI! Andrew Schulz says that Jonah Hill and Lauren London’s kissing scene in You People was created entirely on CGI.
The film, which was released last month, follows the story of Hill’s Ezra and London’s Amira as they enter into a relationship.
The duo attempt to navigate a complicated world of societal expectations due to their racial differences.
The film also stars Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, Nia Long, and Schulz, who plays cousin Avi.
During one scene in the film, Ezra and Amira lean in for a kiss as flower petals fall from above.

More than a few people checked out “You People” last weekend, with the new Netflix rom-com earning bragging rights as the most-streamed movie in the U.S., according to Whip Media’s latest movie ranker, which draws on data from users of TV Time, its TV and movie tracking app with more than 24 million global registered users.
One aspect that certainly didn’t hurt “You People” when it came to drawing eyeballs: the movie’s star power.
Jonah Hill, who also served as producer and co-writer, led the cast. Eddie Murphy plays Akbar, the prickly father of Amira, Hill’s love interest in the film who is portrayed by Lauren London; David Duchovny, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mike Epps and Rhea Perlman are also featured. Kenya Barris, the “Blackish” creator who co-wrote the script alongside Hill, also directed.

A new couple and their families reckon with modern love amid culture clashes, societal expectations and generational differences.
Well, folks, it seems as if we’ve finally reached the mediocre corner of January in the form of Kenya Barris‘ You People, a buddy comedy that fails to deliver the laughs for the most part, and instead, feels like an over-extended commercial for tourism in Los Angeles.
Seriously – the way nearly every scene transitions is insanely hilarious in all the wrong ways. We watch a flashy edit reel of various different spots in the city and it’s genuinely crazy to think about the fact that nobody at the studio wanted to change that up even a little bit. That got incredibly annoying incredibly quickly.

In another take on the classic “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” story, the film follows the ensuing culture clash that takes place when two LA millennials from different backgrounds fall in love and face the ultimate relationship test: meeting the parents. Hill and Barris both wrote the movie.
Also worth noting on the film side, “All Quiet on the Western Front” saw an increase of more than 190 in viewership over the prior week following its nine Academy Award nominations. The German war drama scored 8.17 million hours viewed and was in the top 10 in 33 countries.

The culture-clash comedy does its job of providing a fun escape. Why is that so hard to buy?
The number one movie on Netflix, You People, has mainstream critics cringing and Black Twitter talking back to the screen. The takeaway: they’re not buying any of it – not the culture clash, not the casting and definitely not the chemistry between the two romantic leads.
More reinterpretation than remake of the 1967 classic Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, You People – Black-ish creator Kenya Barris’s feature film directing debut - is a typical romcom by the numbers. But instead of two basic white people playing the will they, won’t they game, writer Jonah Hill is Ezra, a white Jewish man trying to make it work with a Black Muslim woman called Amira, played by Lauren London, in spite of their hidebound families.

Netflix only recently unveiled a sizzle reel for all the films it will premiere throughout 2023. You People certainly stood out, particularly due to its star-studded cast. But Jonah Hill, who also co-wrote and produced the film, has already announced he won’t promote his movies going forward, including the rom-com. So what do his You People co-stars think of his decision?
‘You People’ stars Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy
In You People, Hill and Lauren London play a new couple whose relationship brings their families into conflict. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny portray Hill’s parents; Eddie Murphy and Nia Long play London’s parents.
The ensemble cast also includes Molly Gordon, Sam Jay, Travis Bennett, Mike Epps, Deon Cole, and Rhea Perlman. Prior to its Netflix launch on January 27, 2023, You People briefly played in theaters.
Critics have been mixed-to-negative on the film. On Rotten Tomatoes, You People currently has a 43 rating.

Netflix’s latest No 1 film, the culture-clash comedy You People, has been torn apart by critics.
In a two-star review for The Independent, Clarisse Loughrey described the film as “culture-clash romcom wholeheartedly convinced it’s a satire”, and argued that it “wastes” the talents of Eddie Murphy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
However, the movie, which also stars Jonah Hill, Lauren London, David Duchovny and Nia Long, has enjoyed a warmer reception on social media.
The film focuses on the conflicts between two families from different racial and religious backgrounds, and has been described as an updated spin on Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
On the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently holds a “rotten” rating of 45 per cent positive reviews – with an audience score of just 40 per cent.
However, viewers have praised the film on social media, with Murphy’s comic performance drawing particularly effusive praise from many.

Justin Timberlake is among the slew of celebrities reacting to Tyre Nichols’ violent and deadly arrest earlier this month at the hands of five Memphis Police officers, whose horrific attack was captured on multiple police body cameras as well as street surveillance video.
The videos, released Friday night by Memphis police, show officers tasing, chasing and beating Nichols, 29, who cops initially claimed was pulled over for reckless driving. Since the video’s release, Memphis police have said there’s no proof he was driving recklessly.
For three minutes, Nichols was pummelled, punched and kicked, all the while he cried for his mother, whose house was approximately 100 yards away. It’s been reported that Nichols, an avid skateboarder and photographer, was on his way home from taking sunset photos at a park.

"You People" is the latest comedy to take over Netflix. The movie - which features the star-studded cast of Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus - is about a young couple named Amira and Ezra who want to get married but are hoping to get their parents' approval first. Since they come from two very different backgrounds, that's easier said than done.
If you've already watched the film, you probably recognize London from movies like "Atl," "I Love You, Beth Cooper," "This Christmas," and, more recently, "Without Remorse." Her TV credits also include shows like "The Game," "Games People Play," and "True Story."
Outside of her acting career, London prefers to keep her personal life private, though she has been in a few public relationships over the years. Since entering the spotlight in the early 2000s, she's dated some famous musicians, with her most recent relationship being with the late Nipsey Hussle.
