Which came first, the hybrids or the Sick? Grab your coats — we’re venturing to Alaska for answers to all the big questions in the new trailer for the third and final season of Sweet Tooth.
The trailer shows the epic conclusion to Gus’ (Christian Convery) journey, as Sweet Tooth, Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), Wendy (Naledi Murray), and Bear (Stefania Lavie Owen) brave through a quest that’s been coming to fruition since the show’s first episode. In the two-and-a-half minute trailer, the stakes are high and the vibes are ominous as Birdie says she “can’t shake the feeling that something’s closing in … something bad.”
Amidst the high-octane, visually stunning, action-packed preview, one thing is made clear — the world needs saving, and Gus must lead the way. The final installment of Sweet Tooth will play out over eight episodes (the same length as the previous two seasons), almost...

Once upon a time, the post-apocalypse genre was almost exclusive to movies, with the occasional exception, such as the 1994 mini-series The Stand. Fortunately, the advent of streaming services and bigger budgets changed the paradigm.
Nowadays, radioactive landscapes, bombed-out buildings, hordes of shambling, reanimated dead bodies in various states of decomposition, and desperate, struggling survivors are commonplace on smaller screens.
Ostensibly, post-apocalypse shows are about survival in a devastated world. Dig a little deeper, however, and there's almost always a tale of morality or lack thereof. Movies struggle with this, often opting for CG effects to dazzle and attract, neglecting the human aspect.
That's what makes TV the perfect conduit for a tale of post-apocalyptic survivalism. While not all of them get it right, like 2020's The Stand, a long, drawn-out affair has the luxury of time and world-building on its side.

Netflix’s post-apocalyptic TV series Sweet Tooth Season 3 is well underway for its premiere — the show’s third installment will hit Netflix screens on June 6, 2024. It is based on Jeff Lemire’s outstanding DC comic of the same name, and ever since the premiere of the first season back in 2021, it’s been a rollercoaster ride for both comic oldies and the newer show’s audience. The show follows the story of Gus (Christian Convery), a human-deer hybrid boy, who is navigating life in a cruel post-apocalyptic world without his father, with the help of the Big Man (Nonso Anozie)’

“Our job is to fight for the show,” reveals executive producer Susan Downey on the goal for any good producer on series like their period drama “Perry Mason” and fantasy “Sweet Tooth.” For our recent webchat alongside her Team Downey partner Amanda Burrell, she adds, “We’re trying to be critical and trying to make sure we’re keeping the true north and supporting the vision of our showrunners and our filmmakers, and if you’re taking risks along the way and you’re doing things that you know make you a little bit nervous, then that’s certainly what we strive for. But you really hope that they work. So, it is nice to finally get Season 2 of both shows out into the world and see that people have been responding favorably.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Season 2 of the series Sweet Tooth, which is an adaptation of the DC Vertigo comic book that ran from 2009 to 2013 for a total of 40 issues, was just released through the Netflix streaming service at the end of April (you can read our review Here). Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has ordered a third season of the show – in fact, production on the season has already taken in place in New Zealand and it’s now wrapped! Created by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth was a coming-of-age fable of Gus, a boy/deer hybrid who leaves home to find the world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. Post-apocalyptic series often are centered around zombies or cannibals or even decimated factions of humanity fighting against each other for survival. Rarely are these stories about hope, and even more rarely are they appropriate for all audiences. But the Netflix series Sweet Tooth is the exception to the rule. Following a cast of young kids trying to survive an uncertain future, the Robert Downey Jr produced series is unlike any other television show.
Sweet Tooth became a massive summer hit for Netflix a couple of years ago, unmatched by any series besides Stranger Things. Based on the DC Comics series from Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth follows young Gus, a deer-human hybrid child born after a cataclysmic disease known as The Sick killed most of mankind during the Great Crumble period. In season one, Gus (Christian Convery) and Big Man (Nonso Anozie) traversed America to find Gus’ mother. Instead, they encountered The Last Men,...

The Last of Us struck a nerve with its story of a grizzled cynic shepherding a youngster across a treacherous post-apocalyptic America. But Sweet Tooth got there first, even if it didn’t create as much of a fuss. The dark Netflix YA drama premiered in June 2021, when the Covid pandemic was still very much top of mind. In telling the story of a little boy with deer antlers and his massive, taciturn protector, the show achieved an off-kilter, dystopian sweetness that made for a winning combination. Then it went away.

Review: When the first season of Sweet Tooth premiered back in 2021, I called it the show of the summer. The epic adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed comic book series managed to take a dark, violent, and mature comic and transform it into an all-ages adventure without sacrificing the quality of the source material. The second season of Sweet Tooth improves upon the first by expanding the characters we have met, allowing them to interact with new counterparts and locations and still keeping the adventure, intensity, and originality on display. Sweet Tooth is a series created by Jim Mickle and Beth Schwartz starring Nonso Anozie and Christian Convery. Based on the comic book by Jeff Lemire.
Today, Thursday the 27th, we get the second season of this charming story that mixes a post-apocalypse scenario with Spielberg’s E.T. vibes in a truly surprising and engaging way.

[This story contains spoilers for “The Strings That Bind Us,” episode seven of Ted Lasso’s third season.]
Ted Lasso is a comedy, obviously, and occasionally a tearjerker, but it’s also something of a fantasy — a world where not only an American football coach initially hired as a revenge play can stick on for three seasons at the top levels of English football, but also one whose characters are almost always trying to become better people.
That’s part of what makes the show so appealing, and also what makes for such a jolt in the times when the real world shoulders its way into the story. “The Strings That Bind Us” had a big dose of that, but the episode (which clocked in at nearly an hour after last week’s 62-minute outing) still left room to bring home its core belief that people working together is the best way forward, on or off a field of play.

The sweetest little deer boy in all of the post-apocalyptic U.S. is returning to Netflix this month. "Sweet Tooth," based on the comic series of the same name by Jeff Lemire, debuted in 2021, telling an eerily topical story about humanity in the wake of a deadly pandemic. Around the same time that "The Sick" (also known as the H5G9 virus) emerged, children began to be born as human-animal hybrids. While these children were blamed for the sickness and hunted down by a citizen militia called the Last Men, Gus (Christian Convery) was hidden away from the world by his father (Will Forte), until the day his "Pubba" was killed and Gus wandered out into the world with a new guardian: former militiaman Tommy "Big Man" Jepperd (Nonso Anozie).
