Country stars Jelly Roll and Ashley McBryde will team up as hosts for ABC’s annual “CMA Fest” special, set to be taped at the festival this week and then air on the network June 25. It’s the first time either singer has hosted a prime-time special.
The 16-day window between the end of CMA Fest and the ABC special bearing its name will seem like a short one to those who remember the long period of years when the special was held back for airing in the dog days of August or September. But the June 25 date represents a big jump even on last year’s accelerated schedule, when “CMA Fest” aired on July 19. The bumping up of the air date suggests a belief that country’s current hot streak merits a more immediate commemoration of the genre’s biggest annual live event, rather than putting it on ice...

Kid Rock delivered a memorable performance on Saturday night during his Rock N Rodeo show outside of Dallas, Texas. He decked out his Tesla Cybertruck to look like the original 1969 orange Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard.
The singer already owns the original General Lee car. However, during his performance on Saturday night, he rode in with some famous guests as well. Driving the decked-out Cybertruck was none other than John Schneider, the original Bo Duke actor.
Along with that, Jelly Roll happened to be in the passenger seat. Together, they made quite the trio as Kid Rock went right into his hit single.

Lana Del Rey closed out the first night of Hangout Music Festival on Friday night by bringing out Jelly Roll for a duet cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”
Taking the stage together, the two delivered a loose and lively rendition of the 1974 Southern anthem, with some ad lib interjections, like when Jelly Roll shouts “We love you Lanita!” For her part, Del Rey changed some lyrics, skipping over the “Southern Man” reference to remind the crowd that Neil Young “squashed that beef into the ground.”

For the song’s more controversial verse, both Del Rey and Jelly Roll seem to have a gaff on the lyrics, awkwardly missing the timing for the George Wallace lines but sticking the landing to come together in unison for “Watergate does not bother me.” That aside, going into the repeating refrain of the chorus, it...

At the ACM Awards on Thursday, Miranda Lambert performed her recently released single, “Wranglers.” She had previously given the tune its debut at the Stagecoach Festival, where she also performed with frequent ACMs host Reba McEntire, in April.
Lambert’s live debut of the track was appropriately fiery, as the cowboy-hat-clad star belted out the slow burn of a track on the ACM stage. Her latest revenge anthem was released earlier this month, her first new single in two years.
Lambert has described “Wranglers” as song about a woman reclaiming power.

Thursday’s nights Academy of Country Music Awards program will provide further evidence that we are entering a Post country music period. But not as in “post-country,” let’s be clear… we’re talking about a Post Malone country era. Among the other stars performing new songs on the show are Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and host Reba McEntire; it’s going to be truly New Music Thursday on Prime Video, as the show goes out live from Texas at 8 p.m. Et/5 Pt. Along with transforming his music career and topping the charts, Jelly Roll has been hard at work transforming his body, too. The Save Me singer has been putting in the work to melt the pounds. As a bonus, he picked one of the biggest nights in all of country music to show off all of his hard work.
Jelly Roll Is Larger Than Life
For many years, Jelly Roll’s larger-than-life personality matched his teddy bear physique. While his carrying some extra weight around has become an endearing part of his image, weight is something that Jelly Roll has struggled with for years.
The superstar has gone through several rounds of dropping weight, only to put it back on. This is a cycle that a lot of people can fall into, even those in the public eye. In Jelly’s case, he realized that he would have to get back...

Is Reba McEntire running a little behind Bob Hope, as an awards-show-hosting perennial… or actually a little bit ahead? It depends how you count. Because this year marks her 17th year hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards, aka the ACMs, and Hope did the Oscars 19 times, so she’s still two years from matching his record, if we compare these gigs.
However, McEntire has also hosted a rival program, the CMA Awards, five times over the years. So if we include all the times that McEntire has hosted one country awards program or another, she’s actually up to 22, if we’re doing our math right… well ahead of Hope. Something’s clicking, to say the least.
Variety clicked onto a Zoom with McEntire for a few minutes in the run-up to Thursday night’s ACM Awards, which for the third year are being broadcast live exclusively on Prime...

Entertainer of the Year is the biggest prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring an artist’s incredible year across all metrics, like touring, streaming and radio. While there is no specific formula on how to predict the winner, it’s often someone who dominated the country sphere in more ways than one, and who solidified themselves as the face of country music. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the seven-person race for this year’s award.
