Exclusive: Sony Pictures has snapped up U.S., Canada and key international for Studiocanal and Heyday Films’ threequel Paddington in Peru.
Sony, which has a long history with live-action kids movies, i.e., Lyle Lyle Crocodile and Goosebumps, always wanted in on this franchise, and now they’ve notched it. When the North American rights for Paddington 2 came up in a $30 million-plus auction, Sony was one of the bidders with Warner Bros, though that sequel ultimately went to Heyday’s Harry Potter studio. Through two movies worldwide, Paddington has reaped over a half-billion at the box office with the franchise counting such BAFTA nominations as Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Deadline first told you that the threequel was in the works. Paddington in Peru sees the bear embark on a new adventure that will take him from Windsor Gardens to Peru in the latest installment of the Paddington franchise.

Break out the marmalade. After much back and forth over whether or not it would happen, “Paddington in Peru” (aka “Paddington 3”) is now most definitely happening, with the threequel set to begin shooting in July. Deadline was first to report the news. Per the outlet, director Dougal Wilson is set to begin filming on July 24.
Commercials director turned first-time feature filmmaker Wilson takes the reins from franchise director Paul King, who directed 2015’s “Paddington” and 2017’s “Paddington 2.”
“After 10 years of working on the ‘Paddington’ movies, I feel absurdly protective of the little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big-screen adventure,” King said in a statement. “Dougal’s work is never less than astounding: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative, and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to ‘Please Look After This Bear.’ I know Dougal will do so admirably.

Great news for those who wanted their beloved fictional brown bear, Paddington, to return to the big screen: The much-anticipated third installment in the "Paddington" film series is finally happening! This is a triumph for long-time fans of the acclaimed film franchise, as there were doubts earlier this year that we might not be getting a "Paddington 3" after all. Now that the film is officially slated to start production sometime in June (via Deadline), it's time to whip up some delicious marmalade sandwiches in celebration of the news.
Officially titled "Paddington in Peru," the third installment in the "Paddington" film series will see the return of the highly-intelligent brown bear, who will most likely travel back to his birthplace, Peru. This time, music videos and commercials director Dougal Wilson will be helming this much-awaited sequel, with Ben Whishaw reprising his role as the voice of the titular charming bear.

If Paddington 2 made you want to become a better person, get ready for the follow-up. The Paddington series is about to be realized as a trilogy and is well on its way to becoming one of the best-reviewed franchises ever as Paddington in Peru is about to start production. Deadline has the info on threequel, and though its plot is currently being kept under wraps, as the title suggests, this entry finds the little bear in “deepest, darkest Peru,” which is his birthplace.
Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Mark Burton, the collaborators of both Paddington 1 and 2, are also creating the story for this installment. The screenplay is set to be penned by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont. And Dougal Wilson, the director of numerous commercials and music videos will be making his feature film debut with this entry. Studiocanal, the producer of the two former films,...

Phew. It was all looking a bit quiet for a while there on the Paddington front – given that both Paddington and Paddington 2 are widely acclaimed films, it’s taken a while for the threequel to emerge. Last summer, we learned that the next Paddington film would be titled Paddington In Peru, and take the beloved bear back to his original jungle home – but beyond there, very little news has emerged. Until now.
Worry not, everyone – Paddington In Peru is still happening, and it’s happening soon. As reported by Deadline, it’s due to enter production this summer, with cameras rolling from July. And, as we’ve known for a while now, it’s going to be a filmmaker handover, with Paul King otherwise caught up in the chocolate factory with Wonka. Instead, In Peru will mark the directorial feature debut of Dougal Wilson (no pressure!), but with King,...

Cannes — Top European powerhouse Studiocanal has renewed its global deal with Nickelodeon which will board Season 3 of CG animated megahit “The Adventures of Paddington.”
Marking most surely one of the biggest single title content deals unveiled at this year’s Mipcom, the Nickelodeon renewal for Season 3 comes as Studiocanal has also unveiled a slew of second-window deals on Season 1 after the title’s hugely successful global rollout overseen, like Season 2, by Nickelodeon. It comes, moreover, just months after Studiocanal announced in June that Dougal Wilson is attached to direct “Paddington” 3, the third feature film in the franchise.
Together, the renewal, sales and new movie confirm “Paddington” as not only the biggest franchise at Studiocanal – at a time when the production-distribution-international sales giant is looking to expand its brand activity, says Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh – but as one of the most powerful in Europe.

Frank Cottrell Boyce, who co-wrote two of Queen Elizabeth II’s most iconic on-screen cameos – at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony with Daniel Craig and this year’s Jubilee sketch with Paddington Bear – said the monarch had “brilliant” comic timing and could have been an actor.
“She’s absolutely glowing in that moment,” he said of her appearance alongside Paddington in the 2-minute long sketch, which commenced her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in July. “And you’ve got to remember that that’s real acting that’s going on there. Paddington 2 had three different endings written, and two filmed...
The beautiful denouement of Paddington 2 isn’t one we’re going to spoil in this news piece, just that it seemed such a natural, warm and lovely place to end the movie. So much so that it just felt natural.
In fact, the whole film did, but that belies an awful lot of wrestling from writers Simon Farnaby and Paul King to get their screenplay into shape.
Sanjeev Bhaskar, who takes on a supporting role in the movie, was guest host on the Kermode & Mayo Film Review programme on Radio Five Alive last week, and he revealed that in fact, three different endings for Paddington 2 were put together.

E4’s new comedy, starting tonight, about a group of West Country 20-somethings boasts a star turn from Sean Bean…
Looking back now, the most outlandish part of brilliantly inventive 1999 sitcom Spaced isn’t a movie parody, cutaway gag or eccentric character, but the idea that you could rent a fully furnished two-bedroom flat in Zone Two for ninety quid a week. If Tim Bisley and Daisy Steiner were house-hunting in London today, they’d be forced to pack up their Gillian Anderson posters and typewriter and head back to their respective hometowns to crash on a mate’s sofa.
That’s the fate of Kent (Dylan Edwards) in the first episode of Wasted, a new UK comedy series starting tonight on E4.
Having failed to make it as a Bristol-based DJ, Kent goes back to the village of Neston Berry and to the bosom of his...

Comedy Central is working on a pilot for a sitcom called I Live With Models.

The character lives in a Miami apartment with the three young models after being discovered as a hand model and is thrown into their world.
The script has been written by Jon Foster and James Lamont, who scripted The Harry Hill Movie and are working on the second series of Cuckoo.
Although the sitcom is set in America the show will be filmed in Britain, and a pilot episode is set to be recorded at Pinewood Studios on July 24.
It will then be decided whether a full series of the comedy will be ordered.

Harry Hill, Sheridan Smith and a giant hamster wearing a Christmas hat attended the world premiere of The Harry Hill Movie in London last night (December 19).
Smith, who plays Hill's love interest in the movie, arrived in a sheer red lace dress. She was joined by co-stars Hill, Julie Walters, and the hamster - voiced in the film by Johnny Vegas - on the red carpet in Leicester Square.
Speaking about her role as Shell Girl, the 32-year-old actress told reporters yesterday evening: "It took about four hours in make-up every day, so I'd get picked up at 3am and sit in make-up having all these prosthetic shells put all over my face.
"And I had to wear a fat suit all day, which was mental!
"We had these T-shirts on underneath that had iced water pumped through them because we got so hot. So today I'm like, 'Ah! It's nice and chilly!
