Chris Pratt had a great 2023 with the gargantuan successes of both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The actor has particularly become very popular in voice acting as his previous animated performances in The Lego Movie, and Onward were also praised. With the Mario movie grossing more than a billion dollars, Pratt is as hot as ever in the industry.
Chris Pratt’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the second highest-grossing film of 2023
Pratt is back in another voice role, voicing the beloved Garfield in The Garfield Movie. While there is decent anticipation for the film, fans are unsure as to how the film will turn out. The first reactions of the film have started pouring out on social media and it looks like another winner for Pratt and the team.

Sony’s animated “The Garfield Movie” scratched up $22 million in its international box office debut. It’s currently only playing in 18 markets, roughly 35% of its eventual overseas footprint, so those ticket sales represent a promising start for the family film.
“The Garfield Movie” doesn’t open in the U.S. and Canada until Memorial Day weekend on May 24. When it does land in domestic theaters, it’s projected to earn $35 million over the long weekend and will compete for first place with director George Miller’s “Mad Max” prequel “Furiosa.”
Overseas, “The Garfield Movie” enjoyed the biggest start in Spain with $3.2 million over five days, followed by Brazil with $2.2 million, Italy with $1.6 million and Peru with $1.3 million. According to the studio, revenues for the film are pacing 76% above fellow kid-friendly film “DC League of Super Pets” (which eventually earned $113 million internationally) and 41% higher than “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish...

David Hemingson’s The Holdovers at Focus Features won original screenplay and Cord Jefferson’s Oscar-winning American Fiction from Amazon MGM Studios took adapted honours at the strike-delayed Writers Guild Awards on Sunday.
This was a second major adapted screenplay award in relatively short order for Jefferson after last month’s Oscar win.
The Holdovers prevailed in an original screenplay category that included Barbie and May December, but not the Oscar winner Anatomy Of A Fall, rendered ineligible here because it was not produced under a Writers Guild of America (WGA) contract.
The best documentary screenplay award went to Errol Morris for The Pigeon Tunnel.

"I let it roll, I let it ride, I let it go, I let it slide right by." Sony Pictures has debuted an amusing music video for The Garfield Movie, and since it kind of counts as another trailer (it's all footage from the movie) we're posting it below. The Garfield Movie is made by Sony Animation and Mark Dindal, the filmmaker who also directed The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little. The plot features Garfield reuniting with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat, then ending up involved in a high-stakes heist with him (and Odie). Chris Pratt stars as the voice of the sarcastic, lasagna-loving tabby, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson as his father Vic, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Ving Rhames. The cute teaser trailer debuted last year, and the official trailer arrived a month ago. This track features...

Everything old is new again when it comes to TV detective shows. First, Natasha Lyonne did her best Columbo on Peacock’s quirky Poker Face, then Clive Owen resurrected iconic gumshoe Sam Spade on AMC’s sleek Monsieur Spade. Now Colin Farrell is taking a shot at the old-school private eye game with Apple TV+’s Sugar — and what do you know, this one works, too. Brandi Carlile will be stopping by Sesame Street on Thursday to help Big Bird and Mr. Snuffleupagus, also known as Snuffy, celebrate all things nature.
In an exclusive clip from the episode, which teaches kids about the environment, Carlile explains that “Nature is all around us, it’s everything around us not made by people.” To help her two friends learn more about what Earth is all about, the singer dives into a catchy song as the trio travels through different landscapes — from green rolling hills to fields of flowers.

The Garfield Movie is ringing in Monday — Garfield’s least favorite day — with a new action-packed trailer.
While the first trailer shared the wholesome story of how Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt) entered Jon’s (voiced by Nicholas Hoult) life, the latest preview gets to Garfield’s unexpected reunion with his biological dad, Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson).
Garfield’s life at home with Jon and Odie is “pretty near perfect” — that is, until he’s kidnapped by a massive pitbull and sent to Vic’s whereabouts. Vic enlists the help of Garfield and Odie, never mind that he hasn’t been there for his son since he was a kitten.
“I haven’t seen you for years and when I do, you’re on the run from a deranged cat,” Garfield points out. But he eventually agrees to help Vic out, with an adventure unlike anything the lasagna-loving cat has experienced.

The Screen Actors Guild Award race for best comedy actor may seem like an easy decision for Jeremy Allen White, who seems to be an unstoppable force, sweeping all the award shows for the debut season of “The Bear,” and already winning the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for the second installment. While the FX series has been dominating the television categories, White faces an obstacle at the SAG Awards that could pave the way for another actor from a different series, namely Bill Hader for the final season of “Barry.”
