- The Vitaphone was a sound-on-disc system developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories and Western Electric. The system was first embraced by Warner Brothers and over 100 short subjects were produced at the Warner Brothers-First National Studios in the mid 1920s. Harvey Cunningham was employed at the time by Bell Telephone, Ludlow division in Los Angeles and was hired by Warner Bros. He helped to implement sound recording in film as a sound engineer, working on the "Jazz Singer", "Lights of New York", the first all talking film produced and "On With The Show", the first all talking, all color film. Harvey went on to work on many of the popular Rin Tin Tin serials.
