“Coyote vs. Acme” star Will Forte has broken his silence on Warner Bros.’ shelving of the completed but unlikely-to-be-released Looney Tunes movie. Forte posted a statement to social media addressed to the film’s cast and crew on Thursday, praising their work on the “incredible” film.
“I know a lot of you haven’t gotten a chance to see our movie,” wrote Forte, who stars in the live-action/animated hybrid comedy as Wile E. Coyote’s attorney. “And sadly, it’s looking like you never will.”
“When I first heard that our movie was getting ‘deleted,’ I hadn’t seen it yet,” he continued. “So I was thinking what everyone else must have been thinking: this thing must be a hunk of junk. But then I saw it. And it’s incredible.”
“Super funny throughout, visually stunning, sweet, sincere, and emotionally resonant in a very earned way,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum wrote.

Will Forte posted a note to the cast and crew of “Coyote vs. Acme,” four months after Warner Bros. shelved the Looney Tunes comedy after filming was completed.
Warner Bros. opted to take a $30 million tax write-off instead of releasing the film, then later announced it would let the filmmakers shop “Coyote vs. Acme” to other distributors. The film has not been sold.

“I had a realization that if I knew the world was coming to an end, I wouldn’t want to go traveling or skydiving or running naked through the streets,” Dan Guterman told IndieWire. “I’d want to keep working. I’d want to continue being distracted from the end.”
The result of that epiphany is “Carol & the End of the World,” an animated 10-episode limited series on Netflix starring Martha Kelly as Carol, a woman surrounded by the hedonism of a planet that knows it will end in six months. But Carol (like Guterman) doesn’t want to surf — although she lies to her parents about it to offer them something — or do much of anything beyond quietly sifting through an existential crisis alone in an abandoned Applebee’s.
“So much of what I do is instinctive and unconscious, and it just seemed to me both very funny...

Carol Kohl is sitting on a train. No, she isn’t waiting for Dom Cobb to take her far away, but she is waiting for… something. Her watch is ticking, even though it doesn’t have any hands. The train isn’t moving. She’s completely alone. In an adjacent car, Carol (voiced by Martha Kelly) can see a horde of happy commuters staring back at her. A couple clad in suits of seaweed clink champagne flutes. A scuba diver swims through the air, between balloons floating like jellyfish. A bride raises her glass to toast Carol from across the tracks.
But Carol can only watch, and sit, and wait. Suddenly, her conductor chimes in to say this train is no longer in service. It powers down. The lights go out. The doors open. When Carol gets up to leave, she sees another version of herself sitting by the door.

This Carol & The End of the World review contains no spoilers.
Maybe it’s the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, or perhaps entertainment creatives just feel like we’re living in the end times, but an influx of apocalyptic programming has rammed its way onto our screens in the last half-decade. The concept of humanity going extinct has always fascinated the world, probably because the topic is ripe for analysis and social commentary. To stand out from the plethora of options in apocalyptic fiction, each show must have a defining trait to keep viewers’ attention.
Netflix’s newest animated option, Carol & The End of the World, has a lot to say about what different types of people would do if faced with their final months on Earth. Whether audiences can comprehend all of it or glean anything novel from the show will probably be determined by each...

December holidays mean a welcome break — from everything except new TV. As everyone gets ready to log off and tune out, our trusted networks and streamers are right there to offer new ways to escape and unplug this winter. December marks end of beloved shows “Archer” and “The Crown,” but it’s also a time for new series to shine.
On Netflix, Carol (Martha Kelly) faces the end of the world in…”Carol & the End of The World.” Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) leaves her life behind to find herself in the American Southwest — and even if “My Life With the Walter Boys” isn’t a Christmas movie, that formula sure sounds festively familiar. Hulu has “Culprits” and “Such Brave Girls” for those more interested in naughty than nice, and every fantasy-loving millennial has to tune in to Disney’s “Percy Jackson” adaptation to see how the novels come to life.

This is the clot to the workings of American society, but lifeblood to those who thrive on the mind-numbing boredom of legislative agendas, especially those filed in triplicate. What We Do in the Shadows season 5 episode 4 “The Campaign” takes on the establishment, speaking hard truths to power in order to drain it.
“The Campaign” is filled with surprises. One is there is a cap on how many DUIs can be on someone’s record before being given the okay to run for office on Staten Island. This is ultimately the reason Sean Rinaldi (Anthony Atamanuik) is dropping out of the race for Staten Island Comptroller, in spite of all the hard work he put in to make his platform inclusive in “Pride Parade.

“American Auto” has been canceled by NBC, TheWrap can confirm. This marks the third comedy to be canceled by the network after “Young Rock” and “Grand Crew,” which were axed earlier this month.
Created by Justin Spitzer, the series starred Ana Gasteyer and Harriet Dyer as the employees of a Detroit-based carmaking company. The series followed the struggles of Payne Motors after a CEO (Gasteyer) from the pharmaceutical world who knows next-to-nothing about cars is hired to run a car manufacturer. The series also starred Jon Barinholtz, Tye White, Michael Benjamin Washington, Humphrey Ker and X Mayo. Jim O’Heir, Andy Daly, Martha Kelly, Seth Meyers and Ryan Reynolds also appeared in the series as guest stars.
“American Auto” first premiered in December of 2021 to critical acclaim. Season 1 still has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews.

Director and series creator Sam Levinson has once again found himself at the centre of controversy.
The screenwriter behind HBO’s gritty teen drama series Euphoria is wrapping on his new show, The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd.
While Levinson’s projects have contained content known to push boundaries, his forthcoming drama series has reportedly gone too far, according to production sources who spoke to Rolling Stone.
Teased by HBO Max as a darker and even more risqué Euphoria, The Idol follows troubled pop star Jocelyn (Depp), who finds herself in the “sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” with sordid cult leader Tedros (The Weeknd).
With anonymous claims to the outlet comparing Levinson’s new story to “torture porn” and alleging the set’s environment was chaotic and poorly managed, the director is under scrutiny again.

The 71-year-old actress and back-to-back SAG Awards winner in the outstanding female actor in a comedy series was absent from the ceremony at Fairmont Century Plaza, but her co-stars rallied around her talent as well as her ongoing recovery throughout the night.
Co-star Christopher McDonald took the stage to accept Smart’s honor, reading from a prepared acceptance speech that focused more on the work of the Hacks ensemble and its guest stars than the actress herself. Choosing the best TV episodes is very different from choosing the best TV.
The best episodes might be outstanding hours of shows that fluctuate in quality, or a pivotal character moment or story beat that contextualizes everything else. Sometimes the best episode is part of an almost embarrassing bounty — just one of many consistently brilliant installments in a TV show that blew away both audiences and critics.
IndieWire’s look at the best TV episodes of 2022 is all those things, populated by our usual suspects of top 2022 TV as well as hours we couldn’t forget and shows we gladly binged in a weekend. There is drama, there is comedy, there is literal “Euphoria.” This list has it all. What it doesn’t have, however, is more than one episode from the same show, in an effort to spread the wealth.

Any parent who somehow finds themselves watching HBO’s addictively compelling Euphoria must pray their children know no one like Rue or are raising anyone like her. The series, which debuted in 2019 just as the world locked down, has only grown in popularity. My high school students, apparently, didn’t trip over it until season two arrived earlier this year. Given the higher profile and awards it has justly earned, HBO has combined the two seasons onto DVD for home consumption, no subscription required.
Rue, played with a rawness by Zendaya, is a 17-year-old whose life began to spiral out of control after the death of her father. Alcohol, drugs, and sex were combined in varying quantities as she sought a balm, but repeated attempts at rehab proved futile. As the show’s narrator, Rue shows us her pessimistic outlook on life and helplessness; without a real sense she’s seeking redemption or salvation.

The Emmy 2022 nominations have been announced.
This year’s Emmys, awarding the best in television, will take place on Monday 12 September at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and the race is wide open considering typical nominees, including The Crown and The Handmaid’s Tale, are not eligible.
The reasoning for this is due to a new eligibility period meaning shows had to air their most recent seasons between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022.

When the 2022 Emmy nominations were announced, Sydney Sweeney joined an elite group of 24 individuals who each earned their first two TV academy acting bids in the same year. As a “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus” cast member, she is respectively in the running for both the Best Drama Supporting Actress and Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress prizes. Triumphing in at least one category would make her only the fourth doubly-nominated female first-timer to pull off a win, after Eileen Brennan (1981: won for “Private Benjamin”; lost for “Taxi”), Jane Lynch (2010: won for “Glee”; lost for “Two and a Half Men”) and Ann Dowd (2017: won for “The Handmaid’s Tale”; lost for “The Leftovers”).

At the 2022 Creative Arts Emmys, Lee You-mi (“Squid Game”) pulled off an upset win over Harriet Walter (“Succession”) in the Best Drama Guest Actress category. The 28-year-old first-time contender, who was second in Gold Derby’s odds, is now the youngest person to ever be awarded a guest acting Emmy. She takes the mantle from Justin Timberlake, who was 176 days older than she is now when he scored his first Best Comedy Guest Actor win for “Saturday Night Live” in 2009. The previous record holder in Lee’s category was Samira Wiley.
Besides Walter (who was first recognized here for “Succession” in 2020), Lee’s competitors were Hope Davis (“Succession”), Marcia Gay Harden (“The Morning Show”), Martha Kelly (“Euphoria”) and Sanaa Lathan (“Succession”). The current record holder for youngest Best Drama Actress Emmy winner is Zendaya, who took the 2020 prize for “Euphoria” less than three weeks after turning 24. Now that she is nominated for the HBO show’s second season, she could make further history as the youngest woman to ever collect multiple lead acting Emmys for a continuing series. In doing so, she would shatter the precedent set by 29-year-old comedic champ Mary Tyler Moore (“The Dick Van Dyke Show”) in 1966. She presently ranks behind only Peggy Lipton (“The Mod Squad”) as the second youngest two-time Best Drama Actress nominee.

“I don’t think I’ve ever won a single battle in my whole life,” bemoans Dame Harriet Walter’s character Lady Caroline Collingwood in a third-season episode of HBO’s “Succession.” The acclaimed actress just landed her second Emmy Award nomination for playing the wickedly funny but prickly matriarch on the series and looks to win “the battle” for Drama Guest Actress in September.
Walter competes in a field of that includes two fellow “Succession” guest stars, newcomers and industry vets, although notably not a single one has previously taken home an Emmy. From her own series, she faces off against three-time nominee Hope Davis and Sanaa Lathan as well as three-time nominee Marcia Gay Harden (“The Morning Show”) and first-timers Martha Kelly (“Euphoria”) and Lee Yoo-mi (“Squid Game”). Walter herself also received recognition in the Comedy Guest Actress category this year for her performance on “Ted Lasso.”

No show this past season had a breakout moment quite like “Squid Game” did. Just two months after Netflix released its entire nine-episode debut season on September 17, it was announced that the South Korean series about class, inequality and exploitation had become the streamer’s most-watched show of all time. Now, the mega hit has also taken the Emmys by storm, racking up an impressive 14 nominations. One of those is for guest star Lee You-mi, who is recognized for her heartbreaking portrayal of Ji-yeong (aka Player 240) on the show. This marks the career-first bid for the actor, who now hopes to, uh, get the green light all the way to her maiden victory.

Emmy nominee profile: Hope Davis (‘Succession’) brings new character Sandi Furness to enigmatic life
“Oh, I just do what my dad tells me,” quips Hope Davis’s character Sandi Furness during the third season of HBO’s “Succession.” The celebrated star of stage and screen joined the acclaimed drama series in its most recent season as the daughter of business tycoon Sandy Furness (Larry Pine), rival to Brian Cox’s Logan Roy and his own horde of child executives. For her work, the actress just received the third Emmy Award nomination of her career and first in the Drama Guest Actress category.
Davis faces off against not one but two other “Succession” actresses for the trophy, including fellow series newcomer Sanaa Lathan and previous nominee Dame Harriet Walter. In addition to this internal competition, fellow three-time nominee Marcia Gay Harden (“The Morning Show”) and first-timers Martha Kelly (“Euphoria”) and Lee You-mi (“Squid Game”) round out the lineup.

Nearly two decades into her stand-up comedy career, Martha Kelly ventured into acting by taking on the role of Martha Brooks on the FX comedy series “Baskets.” In the half dozen years since her debut, she has carved out a niche playing perpetually soft-spoken, outwardly joyless characters on such sitcoms as “Will & Grace,” “Grace and Frankie,” and “Hacks.” She has also applied her notoriously deadpan performing style to a few dramatic parts, including the one for which she just received her first Emmy nomination: Laurie on HBO’s “Euphoria.”
