“Shazam” star Zachary Levi is set to headline rock-climbing action thriller “Free Fall” for XYZ Films, with acclaimed New Zealand stuntwoman and stunt coordinator Zoë Bell tapped to direct.
The film — written by Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker — tells the story of a father’s attempt to reconcile with his estranged daughter on a rock-climbing trip that turns deadly as an accident leaves them stranded hundreds of feet in the air. Production is set to start later this year in New Zealand. Tom Hern and Nua Finau of Tavake are producing, with Navid McIlhargey and Erik Olsen executive producing alongside Finegan, Parker and Levi.
Bell began her career as a stunt performer on “Xena: Warrior Princess” and then alongside Quentin Tarantino as a stunt woman and coordinator over a decades-long relationship. She has worked on films such as “The Hateful Eight,” “Django Unchained,” “Kill Bill,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,...

“Stranger Things” is gearing up for its endgame with the official trailer for its upcoming fourth season.
The smash-hit Netflix series, which follows the citizens of Hawkins, Ind. as they fight against supernatural phenomena that plagues the town, last premiered new episodes in 2019, when the third season dropped on July 4. Said third season ended on a series of changes for the central characters of the show, with police chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) seemingly dying and the Byers family moving away from the town.
Filming for the fourth season initially began in early 2020, but production faced numerous delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once upon a time, Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons produced a cheeky series called The Secret Service, which got turned into a fun film called Kingsman. While the comics remain fun reads, the film series has deteriorated when left entirely in Matthew Vaughn’s hands. He’s good filmmaker as witnessed by Kingsman and the underrated Stardust. But, the tone and satire of the spy genre that infused the comic is missing, especially from the prequel installment The King’s Man.
Out now from 20th Century Home Entertainment, the film failed to engage audiences when it was released during the holiday and has appeared on streaming and disc in rapid fashion. What this portends for the series remains classified.

The first Kingsman movie, The Secret Service, almost came out of nowhere and became one of my favourite movies. Of course, I’d already loved Matthew Vaughns films previously (especially Kick-Ass) but Kingsman felt like something completely new, something I’d never seen before. A few years later and its sequel The Golden Circle was bigger, bolder and a lot more ridiculous. It wasn’t as well-liked though, although Elton John role aside, I really enjoyed it. A further three films have been announced for the franchise, with the first The King’s Man, a prequel to the previous movies set in the early 1900s.

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on Wbgr-fm on December 23rd, 2021, reviewing the third film in the Kingsmen series, an origin prequel entitled “The King’s Men,” currently in theaters.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
This third film in the Kingsmen series is surprisingly tamer in fantasy than the first two. Ralph Fiennes is Duke Orlando Oxford, who loses his wife in the Boer War of the early 20th Century. He raises his son Conrad (Harris Dickinson) on his own, but the boy laments his inability to be like his adventurous father. When World War I comes along, all that changes, and the Duke is forced into a mission that has implications for World History.
“The King’s Man” is currently in theaters, beginning December 22nd. Featuring Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Harris Dickinson, Djimon Hounsou and Matthew Goode. Screenplay adapted by Matthew Vaughn and Karl Gajdusek.

The King’s Man is a prequel to the earlier films in the series that began with Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and continued with Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). The release of this latest film in the series was delayed considerably due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is hard to understand exactly why the end product was ultimately released as it proves to be completely devoid of the wit and humor that made the first two films the unexpected gems that they were.
In The King’s Man, Orlando, the Duke of Oxford (Ralph Fiennes) promises his wife on her deathbed that he will keep their son safe. To do so, Orlando devotes his life to pacifism and guides his son to do the same. So, here’s a bit of a “flip”. This pre-holiday Wednesday sees the release of two sequels, Sing 2 and Matrix: The Resurrection (not that unusual for the big studios). So, what almost “balances” them out? Why a “prequel”, naturally. And though you’d think that the first film of this franchise back in 2015 would count as an “origin” story, this one goes further back. Much further, nearly a hundred years really. In that first flick, a super-secret society was in full operation, but we didn’t know how or when it was first formed. Well, wonder no more. It’s time to head down for a “fitting” and learn about that original “sharp-dressed man”, The King’S Man.

Guns, suits, and kicking ass. Those are the three pillars of Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsman” series, which tracks the adventures of a secret spy organization that stops various global cabals from destroying the world via cartoonish ultra-violence and a devilish sense of humor. Both “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and its sequel “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” revel in an obnoxious combination of mid-century British aesthetics with new school juvenilia. Vaughn’s crass version of wink-wink sophistication ostensibly updates the Bond playbook for a coarser world, but it mostly telegraphs his supposed cleverness and nostalgia-happy referentiality, all of which is bathed in excessive blood and profanity. The films’ box-office success indicates the obvious: nihilistic provocations are a cheap, but effective high.
Vaughn’s latest entry into the series is a prequel, the long-delayed “The King’s Man,” which traces the early-20th century origins of the Kingsman organization. While it explains how the Kingsman organization was founded,...

“The King’s Man,” a prequel in the “Kingsman” spy series, has pushed back its theatrical debut. The movie was expected to hit theaters on Sept. 18, and will now be unveiled five months later on Feb. 26, 2021.
Though Disney is still moving ahead with big-screen releases for other titles, such as “The New Mutants” and “The Personal History of David Copperfield,” the decision to delay “The King’s Man” is not entirely surprising considering the studio had done little to no promotion for the movie. Given the rapidly changing nature of the pandemic, the studio plans to assess new releases on a case-by-case basis.
Along with Thursday’s news, Disney announced that Searchlight drama “Nomadland” — directed by Chloé Zhao and starring Frances McDormand — is now scheduled for Dec. 4 and Pixar’s animated adventure “Luca” will bow on June 18, 2021.

The full trailer for The King’s Man has arrived, showcasing director Matthew Vaughn’s World War I-era origin prequel to the Kingsman film franchise, adapting Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar’s comic book series. Like the present-set films that preceded it, The King’s Man wears on its sleeve an action-packed over-the-top nature, except this time drawing upon historical elements to concoct a quasi-history for the formation of the franchise’s eponymous haberdashery-hidden spy organization.
With that said, check out the new trailer for The King’s Man just below!
“We are the first independent intelligence agency. Refined, but brutal. Civilized, but merciless.”

20th Century Studios’ new trailer for “The King’s Man,” the upcoming prequel to the “Kingsmen” films, shows how the secret British spy agency came to be in the midst of the death and destruction of World War I.
The trailer features Ralph Fiennes as the Duke of Oxford, who brings his idealistic son Conrad (Matthew Goode) into the Kingsmen in much the same way that Harry Hart would take Eggsy under his wing nearly a century later. With the help of fellow agents like the sophisticated Polly (Gemma Atherton), the Duke and Conrad must foil a plan by the world’s worst tyrants to exterminate millions of people, with Grigori Rasputin (Rhys Ifans) serving as the Duke’s biggest foe.

The critics, so far, have a unanimous verdict: “The Last Days of American Crime,” Netflix’s new sci-fi/heist mashup that features scenes of police brutality and other gratuitous violence, is one of the worst films… ever.
The movie, released on Netflix June 5, has a 0% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, which means none of the 26 critical reviews tabulated by the site were positive. Overall, the site assigned a 2.27 out of 10 rating for the film across reviewers.
“The Last Days of American Crime” joins only 42 other films (with at least 20 reviews) to receive the dubious distinction of getting a Tomatometer goose egg, including Netflix’s “The Ridiculous 6” from Adam Sandler, “Gotti” starring John Travolta, 1990’s “Problem Child,” “Staying Alive” (also starring Travolta) and “Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol.”
The consensus is that, with protests nationwide over the police killing of George Floyd, the timing of the movie’s release is a disaster.

It’s hard to imagine that the definitive studio movie about Trump-era authoritarianism would come from the guy behind “Taken 2” and “Taken 3,” but that sure didn’t stop him from trying. Of course, you should never doubt the delusional self-confidence of a man who changed his last name to “Megaton,” just as you should never put your faith in a filmmaker who’s basically the Mr. Brainwash to Luc Besson’s Banksy.
Here’s the thing about “The Last Days of American Crime” — you don’t have time for this shit. None of us do. And that’s not just because Olivier Megaton’s agonizingly dull Netflix feature is 149 minutes long (a crime unto itself). While there’s never really a good moment to introduce a bad movie into the world, . We’re all for escapism where you can get it — this critic has streamed an ungodly amount...

These days, searching for solace amid a global pandemic and nationwide protests, film critics frequently find themselves referring to “the movie we need right now,” lavishing that clichéd description on anything that offers the slightest comfort or context in a world turned upside down. Let me assure you, Netflix’s “The Last Days of American Crime” is not that movie. In fact, this gory, excessive and frequently incoherent near-future heist film from Luc Besson protégé Olivier Megaton is pretty much the opposite: It’s an offensive eyesore in which
Perhaps some would take comfort in such a distraction, although for anyone paying the slightest attention to what’s going on in the real world, it’s hard to stomach a film that so frivolously engages with circumstances in which overzealous police are no longer necessary. Shakespearean Transformer Olivier Megaton is back with a brand new actioner. The Versailles-born director of Taken 2 and Taken 3 will bring his latest cars-and-shooting movie to Netflix in June, and the streaming service has just released a first trailer for it.
The Last Days of American Crime is based on the 2009 Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini graphic novel, and has been adapted for the screen by Oblivion scribe Karl Gajdusek. It’s got a decent cast, too – The Assassination of Gianni Versace‘s Edgar Ramírez leads the pack alongside Anna Brewster (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) with a surprising appearance from Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael Pitt, who appears to be firing on all cylinders at Full Michael Pitt. That just so happens to be our favorite level of Michael Pitt, so we’ll probably have to check this one out.

Kingsman: The Great Game, the next film in the action franchise, is going the historical prequel route.
Kingsman 3 is taking us back in time with a prequel, titled Kingsman: The Great Game, set against the late-Victorian backdrop of the turn of the 20th century, depicting the formation of the eponymous government organization of haberdasher secret agents. The prequel is already planned as the first of a two-film series, with a Kingsman spinoff television series also in the works.
Matthew Vaughn, the repertory director of the film franchise adapting Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar’s Kingsman comic book series – 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle – will return at the helm of this prequel, with Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion) writing the latest version of the script. They are joined by producers – and regular Vaugh collaborators – Adam Bohling and David Reid.
