Actor Matthew Lawrence, 43, revealed that there have “been many times in my life where I’ve been propositioned to get a huge role,” while discussing the double standards of the MeToo movement and “prevalent” abuse of power in Hollywood.
During an episode of Brotherly Love, the podcast Lawrence cohosts with his brothers Joey and Andrew, the Boy Meets World alum claimed to have once been fired from an agency, after refusing to comply with an acclaimed director’s requests in exchange for a role.

The Boy Meets World actor detailed his experiences on a recent episode of the Brotherly Love Podcast, with his brothers Joey and Andrew Lawrence while talking about the #MeToo movement and the harassment that men and women face in the industry.
“Not a lot of guys, in my opinion, have come out and talked about this in the industry,” he started off by saying. “Now granted, I’d say it’s probably a third of what women go through … [but] men go through this as well.”

CAA’s mega acquisition of ICM Partners has been completed after nearly 10 months of seeking regulatory approval, CAA announced on Tuesday. The deal is valued at 750 million with a pro forma combined enterprise value of around 5 billion, TheWrap has learned.
A source adds that 105 positions from ICM across all areas will be eliminated as part of the transition, while 425 ICM staffers and agents will be joining CAA.
The merger between the two 46-year-old rivals leaves just three major talent agencies in Hollywood — WME, CAA and UTA. The deal also marks the largest acquisition of its kind since Wma and Endeavor merged in 2009 and WME acquired the sports marketing giant Img in 2014.
“Today marks a new chapter in the history of our company, positioning us better than ever to deliver extraordinary opportunities for many of the world’s preeminent artists, athletes, thought leaders, brands, and organizations in entertainment, sports, and culture,...

Adam Venit, who was formerly a top Hollywood agent at WME and was accused of groping client Terry Crews, has been sued by his estranged wife, Trina Venit, for alleged assault, sexual battery, domestic violence, false imprisonment, stalking and defamation.
Triva Venit filed a lawsuit, obtained by Variety, in federal court in Los Angeles on Sunday. The suit alleges that during their 20-year marriage, Adam Venit “strangled her, punched her, kicked her and threw objects and food at her, forcibly restrained her robbing her of her freedom of movement for the sole purpose of continuing to abuse her, leaving her bloodied, bruised and physically and emotionally scarred.”
In one incident of abuse, Trina allegedly called the police after Adam strangled her, but Adam told officers that Trina was the one being abusive and that she had tried to kill herself. Believing Adam’s fabricated story, the officers arrested Trina for...

Four years after leaving WME under a cloud of allegations of sexually assaulting Terry Crews, one-time top agent Adam Venit has now been accused of an abundance of sex crimes and more by his wife.
“Adam’s brazen public assault on an imposing male former professional athlete pales in comparison to the abuse Adam has and continues to inflict on his wife behind closed doors,” says a lawsuit filed late Sunday by Venit’s estranged wife Trina that alleges domestic violence, sexual battery, assault, defamation and stalking..
“Over the course of their 20-plus year marriage, Adam has physically, sexually, mentally, emotionally and verbally abused and insistently stalked and monitored Trina,” reads the nine-claim complaint filed in federal court. “He inflicted countless unspeakable acts upon the woman he professed to love,” adds the explicit 18-page suit, which is seeking a jury trial.

Former Hollywood powerbroker Adam Venit has been sued by his ex-wife, who accuses him of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking and says she was “trapped in a dangerously violent and abusive marriage.”
In the suit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles on Sunday, Trina Venit claims that her ex-husband, a former WME agent, “strangled, punched, kicked, drugged and sexually assaulted her, leaving her bloodied, bruised and scarred on too many occasions to count.”
Adam Venit, who once counted Adam Sandler, Casey Affleck and Dustin Hoffman as clients, left WME in September 2018 after he and the firm settled a lawsuit from Terry Crews alleging the executive groped the actor at a West Hollywood party. The Los Angeles Police Department turned its investigation into the incident over to country prosecutors, but they ultimately declined to press charges. (Crews fired WME after he sued.

After nearly 20 years in residence, powerhouse ex-talent agent Adam Venit and his wife Trina are leaving their playful 90210 digs, on to new residential pastures. Sited in the Bella Vista guard-gated community high above Beverly Hills, their giant mansion now sports a list price that’s just a few hairs under $40 million — not surprising considering every inch of the Mediterranean-meets-contemporary behemoth was gutted and resculpted during the Venits’ ownership. The WGA has taken another shot at Endeavor’s public offering Thursday, warning potential investors that the new public company’s corporate governance structure “dramatically favors company insiders,” including CEO Ari Emanuel and executive chairman Patrick Whitesell, and “restricts public investors’ ability to exercise meaningful oversight.
Endeavor couldn’t comment because it’s in a so-called “quite period” that doesn’t allow it to make any public comments that might influence the stock price.
“The potential for conflicts of interest with public investors echoes current practices in Endeavor’s representation business that have enriched the agency at the expense of its clients, and that recently caused 1,400 writer-clients to walk away from the firm,” said Laura Blum-Smith, the WGA West director of research.

D.L. Hughley wants Terry Crews to be the first guest on his new late-night show for TV One to talk about his #MeToo experience.
Hughley came to TCA on Wednesday to talk about The D.L. Hughley Show, launching in March.
Asked who he would like to be his first guest, he did not hesitate: “First person I’d like to talk to: Terry Crews.”
Hughley has made headlines for his remarks about Crews’ #MeToo experience. A couple weeks ago, Crews hit back at the comedian during an exchange on Twitter about sexual assault, specifically how men “with all those muscles” should react if touched inappropriately.
Crews is one of the few men to share a personal #MeToo story, saying he was assaulted by now former Wme agent Adam Venit during an industry party in 2016. Crews sued Venit and Wme. As Deadline previously reported, the case was settled and Venit retired in September.

If you’ve been on the internet in the last several years, you already know that just about everyone loves Terry Crews. That includes Sylvester Stallone, who was so impressed by him during production of “The Expendables” that he rewrote a crucial scene to give his co-star more screentime — which is not at all the direction Crews thought things were going.
“When I was on that movie, I wasn’t getting a lot of light and they kept changing the script and I just kept disappearing,” Crews told Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna mail it in. I’m gonna say my lines and go home. I wanna get out of here.’ And something told me, ‘Terry, this is an opportunity of a lifetime. You have this chance to make history.’”
It worked: “All of a sudden, Sly’s like, ‘You know what, I like that.

Anyone who misses Bob Ross and loves Terry Crews will be pleased to learn that the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star is holding a live, 24-hour painting session. NBC is airing “A Very Terry Christmas: Cozy 24-Hour Painting Sesh with Terry Crews” on YouTube at this very moment, and although some trickery is involved and the actor isn’t actually taking brush to canvas for a full day, the illusion is convincing enough.
A visit to NBC’s website reveals what we’re watching is in fact a 42-minute video played on a loop. Crews certainly knows what he’s doing, not only as a painter — his color mixing is especially impressive — but as a low-key host. He takes a cue from Ross in saying things like, “Ooh, don’t you just love a blue sky? A pretty, Christmas-y blue sky.”

Exclusive: “It meant nothing without a resignation,” Terry Crews told Deadline today why he decided now to reveal an apology letter that Adam Venit sent him in March about the now ex-Wme agent grabbing the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star’s genitals at a party in February 2016.
Sent four months after Crews took Venit and the uberagency to court for sexual assault and two weeks after the Los Angeles District Attorney decided not to press charges because the matter was “beyond the statute of limitations,” the correspondence from the ex- head of Wme’s Motion Picture Group says “sorry” and asks for “forgiveness.”
Read Adam Venit’s letter to Terry Crews here:
After first revealing the incident online in early October 2017, the versatile former NFL player exited being repped by Wme soon afterwards. Venit was suspended while Wme investigated the sexual misconduct allegations and was back at work in a diminished capacity in late November.

Terry Crews is finally accepting the apology he got from Adam Venit now that the Wme agent has officially retired. Terry just posted a letter he received in March and, in it, Venit asks for forgiveness for the sexual assault Terry says went down at a Hollywood party. Venit does not directly fess up to Terry's allegation, but says ... "I know that you didn't ask for any of this ... I take responsibility for us being here now,...

Adam Venit, a longtime talent agent at Endeavor and Wme, is stepping down next week, an insider told TheWrap.
Venit found himself embroiled in the #MeToo uproar after Terry Crews, a former Wme client, accused Venit of groping him at a party. Crews filed a civil suit against Wme and Venit related to the 2016 incident. Venit’s departure was supposed to be announced on Monday, according to the insider.
Wme said in a statement: “Terry Crews, Adam Venit, and Wme have settled the lawsuit Mr. Crews filed last year. It will be dismissed.”

Less than a year after stepping down as the head of William Morris Endeavor’s motion picture department due to a sexual assault accusation, Adam Venit is making plans to leave the agency.
Sources wouldn’t get into specifics, but say last year’s sexual assault scandal was one of many reasons that factored into Venit’s eventual decision to leave the company he had been with since its founding.
Venit worked at Endeavor from 1996 to 2009, when the company merged with the William Morris Agency. He began his career in the mailroom of Creative Artists Agency, where he worked for 11 years before becoming a leader in the talent department.
He repped some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Adam Sandler and Sylvester Stallone, and was responsible for some of the biggest client deals in the biz which included Sandler’s massive deal with Netflix.

Adam Venit, the longtime talent agent and an architect of Endeavor and Wme’s movie businesses, is retiring on Monday. Venit told his close colleagues and clients yesterday that he has made the decision to retire, and he is transitioning a stellar list of stars and filmmakers to others at Wme, a list that includes Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Shawn Levy, Dustin Hoffman, Eddie Murphy, Michael B. Jordan, Vince Vaughn, M. Night Shyamalan and Marc Forster.
His final months as an agent included becoming mired in the #MeToo controversy after former Wme client Terry Crews claimed that the agent groped him at a party. Venit apologized, but Crews was steadfast and has become a forceful voice in that victims don’t necessarily have to be women. Being drawn into that narrative certainly dampened the spirit of Venit, who was temporarily suspended and stripped of his title as head of Wme’s Motion Picture Group.

Kevin Spacey today has a lot bigger problem that his Billionaire Boys Club film bombing as the Los Angeles County District Attorney now is reviewing another sexual assault case involving the former House of Cards star.
This second case against the Oscar winner was handed over to the special task force in Jackie Lacey’s office yesterday by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department “It remains under review,” said the D.A. office today. There were no more details provided.
A previous case against the much accused Spacey was presented on April 5 by the Sheriff’s department that reportedly involved an incident with a male adult from back in October of 1992. That assault allegedly took place in West Hollywood. That case also remains under review.
Facing a probe in Connecticut too, Spacey is also under investigation in the UK for six claims of sexual assault over a 22-year period of time.

Having testified in front of Congress about new legislation for sex crime victims and continuing to press his lawsuit against Wme over alleged sexual assault by agent Adam Venit, Terry Crews recently called the past few months a “summer of freedom.”
Well, summer is almost over and now the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor himself has been hit with a more than $1 million lawsuit by a former social media consultant and pal. Among other claims, the often confusing action alleges breach of contract, cyberbullying, harassment and an implied and disputed discrimination move against a member of the Lgbtq community in a business dust-up over an app.
“This Complaint is brought by Plaintiff Darwin Hall seeking payment for services rendered and costs incurred by Plaintiff in connection with his services to Defendants, and for Defendants’ tortious acts in response,” says the jury-seeking multi-claim filing made in L.A. With “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” moving from Fox to NBC, many of the questions surrounding Season 6 have been about what might change. But most of what the “99” cast and crew has said of the still-in-the-works episodes revolves around progressing previously established elements — primarily, telling important, topical stories through a welcoming sitcom format.
“One of the things we’ve been doing over the last few seasons are more topical, issue-oriented episodes,” executive producer Dan Goor said during a panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “[But] they’re really, really hard to do. We want them to feel funny but give weight to the issue and explore it in a fair way.”
In the past, those episodes include Season 4’s “Moo Moo,” in which Terry Crews’ sergeant experiences racial profiling firsthand, as well as Season 5’s ongoing arc in which Stephanie Beatriz’s Rosa comes out as bisexual.

Male sexual abuse isn’t funny. Full Frontal host Samantha Bee made that message clear on her show Wednesday night, and recruited Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews to help urge the public to take the issue seriously.
“Sexual harassment of men is a real problem and not a joke — despite the way we talk about it,” Bee said. Bee even called out herself for treating the issue of sexual harassment and abuse as a women movement. “Many of the predators in the #MeToo era preyed on men. There are tons of other slimeballs out there, and when we laugh at their victims, we make it easier for them to keep Kevin Spacey-ing all over the place.”
She and Crews then presented a mock PSA tackling the issue with both calling out people who joke about topics like “prison rape” and “boys being molested.”
“Lots of things are funny that aren’t rape jokes.

Samantha Bee spent some time during the August 1 episode of her Emmy-nominated “Full Frontal” addressing male sexual abuse. The late night host told viewers the issue is never funny, but what’s even less funny are male sexual abuse jokes. For many, the big “if” looming over San Diego Comic-Con 2018 was just how the biggest annual gathering of geeks in the world would respond to the rapidly changing cultural climate exemplified by the #MeToo movement.
Would the convention organization openly address the vast changes that have rocked Hollywood and other industries in the last 10 months? Would it be business-as-usual for Sdcc or major studios? And have the creators and their fans embraced these changes?
Based on what TheWrap saw, the answers are: A frustrated “no,” a cautiously optimistic “probably not,” and for the most part, an enthusiastic “hell yes.”

Officially, Comic-Con was silent about #MeToo. When Sdcc programming director Eddie Ibrahim gave his traditional kick off speech in Hall H on Thursday morning, notably absent was any mention of the convention’s harassment policies. That continued for all four days of the convention.

Terry Crews Testified Before the Senate About Sexual Assault, and Everyone Needs to Hear His Message
Terry Crews has been open about his experience with sexual assault in Hollywood, and on Wednesday, the 49-year-old actor appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington DC to advocate for change. Terry testified to support the Survivors' Bill of Rights, which establishes rights for survivors of sexual assault, in hope of "creating additional civil rights protections for survivors across the nation."
In his testimony, Terry spoke about how former Wme agent Adam Venit once groped his genitals in front of his wife at a party, and because he filed a civil suit, an Expendables 4 producer recently threatened to drop him from the film if he did not withdraw it.
