That's it! The Britain's Got Talent auditions are over, and the judges have chosen their top 45 acts. But before all that we got our final few successful auditionees, so we had to cast our eye over them, didn't we?
First up were the Beat Brothers, a five-piece tap dancing group. Oh, and it just so happened that one of the men was a topless club promoter, so of course he'd whipped off his shirt by the end of their time on stage.
But shirtlessness and David Walliams' enjoyment of it aside, Beat Brothers actually had a really entertaining act. They danced on top of glittery podiums, and were full of energy. The choreography was tight and matched the music perfectly, but it was also really good fun and had plenty of amusing moments - and, as Alesha said, it felt "fresh". Good work.

Thunderbirds Are Go! returned to our screens tonight (April 4), leaving viewers wondering whether it could top the 1960s original.
The classic theme tune and countdown open the show but there are no strings in sight for this version of Gerry Anderson's story, as the Tracy brothers move to complete CGI animation.
Initial reaction to images released of the brothers weren't fantastic - but what did Twitter think of it on-screen? Digital Spy rounds up viewers' opinions here:
Episode one drew favourable opinions, with many praising it for being a programme that the entire family can enjoy:
Hats off to the Thunderbirds remake. My show was the one I first saw in 1965. But the new one's smart & inventive & fun & I'm glad it's here

Production on Native, a UK sci-fi feature starring Rupert Graves and Ellie Kendrick, wrapped on July 16.
Jen Handorf, of Dark Matter Ltd co-produces with Liverpool-based, feature debutants, Neil Atkinson and Jim Fitzsimmons of Glasshouse Films.
Daniel Fitzsimmons directs from the screenplay he co-wrote the script with Atkinson.
Native is the story of two humanoids from a telepathic society hunting down a sound signal from a distant planet - Earth. It soon becomes clear that they are on more than just a voyage of discovery - their mission is to colonise.
However, for one of them the isolation and breaking away from the telepathic collective means they go through a series of changes that makes them more emotional, self aware - more human.
Handorf, a veteran of six horror features, says: “I’ve never done a science fiction film. The idea of creating a world, where you create your own rules and that you don’t have to...

As Cinema Retro gets inundated with DVDs to review during the course of any given year, it's virtually impossible to keep up with all of them in a timely manner. Here are some notable titles you should be aware of:
Cabaret Blu-ray (Warner Home Video): Warner Home Video has inherited the rights to Bob Fosse's classic 1972 film adaptation of the stage production that, in turn, was based on Christopher Isherwood's Berlin Stories. The Blu-ray comes packaged in one of those irresistible hardback book formats that is loaded with wonderful photos from the movie. The movie itself holds up superbly even after 40 years. The decline of Germany's Weimar Republic amidst the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s is seen through the eyes of nightclub singer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) and her constant companions (Michael York, Helmut Griem) . Yep, holiday hiatus is definitely over, as evidenced by the amount of promo materials The CW has been pumping out over the past couple of days for its slate of shows. Case in point: this new clip that just showed up online from "The Vampire Diaries" Episode 3.11, "Our Town", to accompany the preview that we debuted earlier today. While most fans of "The Vampire Diaries" are buzzing about "the kiss" that ended last night's episode, this writer is still reeling from the possibility that we're about to lose one of my favorite characters...assuming of course that things go according to plan. Thankfully, though, that rarely happens in Mystic Falls. Maybe this preview of Episode 3.11, "Our Town", will shed more light on things.

Why not fold documentaries into my list of the "Best Films of 2011?" After all, a movie is a movie, right? Yes, and some years I've thrown them all into the same mixture. But all of these year-end Best lists serve one useful purpose: They tell you about good movies you may not have seen or heard about. The more films on my list that aren't on yours, the better job I've done.
That's particularly true were you to depend on the "short list" released by the Academy's Documentary Branch of 15 films they deem eligible for nomination. The branch has been through turmoil in the past and its procedures were "reformed" at one point. But this year it has made a particularly scandalous sin of
omission. It doesn't include "The Interrupters" (currently scoring 99% on the Tomatometer), which has received better reviews and been on more critic's Best lists than any other.

Since the day it was released, the iPhone has created a micro-economy by enabling developers large and small to reach consumers directly by selling apps and ads against their offerings. Apple just expanded that economy considerably by allowing developers to add direct in-app purchasing to free apps - enabling them to sell content, subscriptions and digital services directly on the platform. (Until now the option was only available to paid apps, which has hampered the popularity of applications trying to charge for additional content.) The move should be a boon for the purchase of virtual goods such as weapons for gamers or dresses for dress-up apps; games account for more than 20% of the 85,000+ apps available on the platform. "This announcement changes the landscape of the App Store as we know it," said Colin Smith, co-founder and vice president of Freeverse.
