Bryan Cranston is reuniting with former Sony Pictures Television chairman Steve Mosko.
The former Emmy-winning Breaking Bad star has inked a TV producing deal with Mosko’s Village Roadshow. Mosko, during his tenure atop Sony, was among the primary executives who developed and oversaw AMC’s Breaking Bad.
Under the pact, Cranston and his Moonshot Entertainment banner will create and develop TV content for various distribution platforms. Cranston had a long relationship with Sony TV and, following the show’s five-season conclusion, opened a new chapter with the indie studio and signed a first-look deal back in 2013. His Moonshot banner — named after Dodger favorite Wally Moon’s famed home run — was based at Sony until mid-2019, when Cranston signed a multiple-year pact with Warner Bros. TV. That deal has since expired, paving the way for Cranston to reunite with Mosko at Village Roadshow.

Exclusive: Warner Bros is sick and tired of having streaming sand kicked in its face.
As Village Roadshow heads back to the court docket today to further push Asap on the breach of contract lawsuit the longtime financier of tentpole flicks filed last week against the WarnerMedia-own studio over box office disappointment The Matrix Resurrections, WB have made a rare move to pull back the veil themselves.
After the usual dry corporate statement they issued last week, a Warner Bros spokesperson Monday took the white gloves off:
Village’s actions have been duplicitous and this dispute is equally contrived. Village was happy to have their name on the credits of the film, traveled to the world premiere in San Francisco, and held themselves out to the media as producers on the film. But they have now reneged on their contractual obligation to pay their share of the cost of the film.

When Village Roadshow CEO Steve Mosko first met with Kevin Garnett to discuss the basketball star’s pivot to the world of entertainment, the longtime film executive says it was immediately clear that the NBA champion’s Content Cartel production company wasn’t merely a vanity label.

Beyond passion, Garnett came to the table with ideas. As the duo, who were introduced by Garnett’s “Uncut Gems” co-star Adam Sandler, discussed what they loved about cinema, the topic of Blaxploitation films came up.

Exclusive: Village Roadshow Pictures has acquired rights to adapt Turning of the Tide: How One Game Changed the South by New York Times bestselling author Don Yaeger into a feature film.
Yaeger, with assistance from USC fullback Sam Cunningham (who passed away last Tuesday at the age of 71) and defensive captain John Papadakis, tells the electrifying story of the 1970 Alabama-usc game that broke down the last racial division in college football, detailing the first integrated football game in Alabama. The two teams that met represented two distinct faces of college football: legendary Alabama coach Bear Bryant’s Crimson Tide was the all-white national powerhouse in the SEC, while the USC Trojans, coached by John McKay, featured an all-Black starting backfield that reflected the social changes that were sweeping the nation.
The timing of this project is pretty spot on as college football is in the midst of a change yet again.

The shake-out in media and entertainment after a few years of mergers, cost-cutting initiatives and massive restructurings has thrust many experienced executives back onto the job market — but they’re not all landing at mainstream Hollywood companies. A growing number of them are making their way into new roles as partners, advisers or entrepreneurs-in-residence at private equity and venture capital funds.
The burst of available executive talent has coincided with an upsurge of interest among investors in putting money into media and related businesses. Now that the dust is settling on the Disney-Fox, AT&T-Time Warner and Comcast-Sky megamergers, veteran observers see the next wave of industry consolidation coming through transactions greased with private equity capital. Some executives are lining up to be in a good position to help prospective new owners operate TV, film and digital content and distribution acquisitions.

“Myst,” the influential video game that helped usher in the CD-rom era, may inspire an ambitious multi-platform film and television universe.
Village Roadshow Entertainment Group, the co-producer and co-financier of the “Matrix” and “Sherlock Holmes” franchises, has acquired the rights to the first-person graphic adventure. For those born post-90s, “Myst” was wildly popular and hailed as a bold step forward in gaming when it debuted in 1993. It took players to a magical island and had them solve a series of puzzles. The graphics were considered to be state-of-the-art, and some fans had a quasi-religious attachment to its mythology.
“Myst” inspired several sequels and spinoffs over the decades, but its primary story follows Atrus, grandson of a woman who discovered the D’ni civilization in a cavern deep below the New Mexico desert. These mystical people create books that link to other worlds, but the discovery triggers a cultural clash...
