This article contains spoilers for Lessons in Chemistry episode 3.
Elizabeth Zott is nothing if not resourceful. Her entire kitchen doubles as a lab. She wears a sharpened pencil in her hair as both a helpful writing tool and protective weapon. She knows how to skin a tomato in mere seconds. So it comes as no surprise that, when it comes to at-home reproductive testing, she knows how to get things done with minimal fuss and maximum results.
Following the shocking twist at the conclusion of the first two episodes of Lessons in Chemistry, Elizabeth (Brie Larson) finds herself all alone and struggling to make meaning of her life after her beloved Calvin (Lewis Pullman) dies in a freak accident. Her scientific work is threatened and her emotional life is empty as the only person she felt she could trust is now gone. Given those circumstances, when Elizabeth begins to feel a little pekid,...

Elizabeth Zott's life comes crashing down in Lessons In Chemistry Season 1 Episode 3, "Living Dead Things".
As Elizabeth deals with Calvin's death, some unexpected news pushes her to work faster and harder than ever.
Lessons In Chemistry Season 1 Episode 3 opens interestingly, with Elizabeth and Calvin's dog Six-Thirty becoming sentient in a voiceover.
The choice is odd, but works for the story. Six-Thirty explains how he found Elizabeth in the first place, working through the details carefully.
He was meant to be a military dog, training with rottweilers and dobermans, unsure of how he fits into the picture.
Six-Thirty escapes from the training academy, left out and alone, until Elizabeth finds him rustling through her trashcan. She takes him in, and it's the first time he's ever known love.
After Calvin's accident, B.J. Novak's Six-Thirty is distraught. He runs home to find Elizabeth, and as viewers, we're brought back into the human headspace.

Six Thirty (voiced by Bj Novak) found Elizabeth Zott (Brie Larson) and Calvin Evans (Lewis Pullman) after he ran away from the strict bomb-sniffing training he strongly disliked.
An exclusive clip provided to TheWrap shows the beloved dog failing miserably at his training to be tough, brave and a bit vicious.
“I can’t remember the day I was born. I can’t remember my parents. I can’t remember how I ended up in this place where I so clearly wasn’t built to be,” Novak’s voiceover says as Six Thirty quails from attacking a man, and four loud bomb blasts go off. “The first thing I remember is fear. I was there to be brave. I was trained to protect. I was supposed to act, but instead, I was paralyzed. I was a coward and I hated myself for it.”

The placement of a particular cliffhanger at the end of “Lessons in Chemistry’s” second episode was debated intensely by showrunner Lee Eisenberg, director Sarah Adina Smith and the show’s writers.
The second episode in the Apple TV+ series, adapted from the best-selling novel by Bonnie Garmus, ends on a tragic note with the death of the character Calvin Evans, portrayed by Lewis Pullman. The first two episodes premiered Friday.
“We spent the very first few weeks debating this [plot point] ad nauseam. We wanted the audience to invest as much as possible in this love story as much as we were,” Eisenberg told TheWrap. “Ultimately, we pulled that from the book and the book. I don’t remember what page or what percentage of the book we’re in, but it’s pretty early on that he dies. I remember experiencing it in the book and thinking like, well, what could possibly come next?...

Disney+ has dropped the trailer for Season 2 of The Santa Clauses, which finds the Calvin family back at the North Pole and Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) facing some stiff competition from Eric Stonestreet’s Magnus Anta (aka The Mad Santa).
“I am Santa, the rightful Santa,” Stonestreet exclaims in the trailer. “The Santa who occupies the North Pole now is a fraud!” He adds, “Revenge will be swift — and sweet. I am Santa, after all.”
In Season 2, Scott continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted when he failed to fine a worthy successor in Season 1. Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Calvin to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus.
In addition to Allen, who also executive produces, and new cast member Stonestreet, Season 2 stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol,...

Even though we're not done with Halloween, Disney isn't wasting anytime digging back into the world of Santa Claus with a second season of the Disney+ original series "The Santa Clauses." Tim Allen is back as jolly old Saint Nick, and now he's focusing on turning all the happenings at the North Pole into a family business. Elizabeth Mitchell is still as supportive as ever as Mrs. Claus, Cal Calvin Claus (Austin Kane) is preparing to eventually become Santa Claus at some point with a little Santa training program, and Sandra Calvin Claus is helping out in the background by taking care of the reindeer and whatnot.
Of course, getting the North Pole in shape for Christmas isn't their biggest concern; there's trouble brewing in the form of another Santa Claus. Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") is playing Magnus Antas or The Mad Santa. Apparently, he thinks Scott Calvin's version...

Watch out! This post contains spoilers.
We need to talk about Lewis Pullman in "Lessons in Chemistry." I didn't know what to expect when I first sat down to watch the series. I had not read the bestselling book that the Apple TV+ series was based on but knew it was mostly about a woman (Brie Larson's Elizabeth) dealing with sexism during her career in science. She eventually becomes a TV personality with a cooking show, as her love of chemistry and cooking go hand in hand.
Once I did start to watch, I fell almost instantly for the show. It mixes drama, romance, comedy, and science all together into something one-of-a-kind. It uses its period setting to tell a complicated story that still resonates today, and it gives Larson (an Oscar winner) a messy and complicated character to work with.
But then there's Pullman.
