Thomas Barney(II)
- Camera and Electrical Department
- Producer
- Additional Crew
Since he was little, Thomas Barney has been astounded by the power of motion pictures. As a child, they helped shape his imagination and
influenced his perspective of the world. One of his favorite hobbies was to write and illustrate comic books and short stories on packets of
his parents' spare paper. It was at a very young age that he decided his career path would be in the industry that had affected him so much.
Throughout his school years, Thomas experimented with small video projects, using his friends as actors and doing in-camera effects. He attended Academy of Art University in the wonderfully diverse city of San Francisco, where he studied directing and earned a BFA in Motion Pictures & Television. After gaining valuable experience working as a camera assistant and Director of Photography in the film community there, he made the move to Los Angeles to continue his career in the larger industry.
Thomas has had experience in just about every department on and off the set. During his years as a freelance first assistant camera, he worked on a variety of feature films, shorts, syndicated TV shows, and commercials, eventually working his way up to serve as Director of Photography on two feature films. In 2017, Thomas co-founded Fake Door Films, a Los Angeles-based production company that focuses on narrative content, where he serves as Lead Producer.
