- The Scottish 5-string bass guitar that Nollen plays on many of his songs was designed by Dave Pegg, who played the custom-made instrument during Jethro Tull's "Rock Island" world tour during 1989-1990. The bass can be heard on Fairport Convention's album "Red and Gold" and Jethro Tull's album "Rock Island" (1989).
- Since 1978, Nollen has often musically collaborated with guitarist, flutist and composer Craig Nance.
- In 1999, Nollen hosted a Washington, DC, conference, "Heirs of Horror Royalty," featuring the descendants of Boris Karloff (Sara Jane Karloff), Bela Lugosi (Bela Lugosi, Jr.), Lon Chaney and Lon Chaney, Jr. (Ron Chaney), Vincent Price (Victoria Price) and Carl Laemmle (Carla Laemmle).
- In 2019, Nollen began collaborating with his wife, Yuyun Yuningsih Nollen, and other colleagues in Indonesia and Japan, on a short adventure-fantasy film tribute to director Akira Kurosawa, "Five Indo Samurai," for What-Is-Mean Productions, shot entirely on location in West Java.
