‘X-Men ’97’ was an instant hit for Marvel Studios. The show debuted with a 100 % score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s been praised ever since. Every episode is better than the last one.
The true shock came in episode 5, it was such an emotional and heartwrenching piece of art that fans immediately started petitioning to have Beau DeMayo reinstated as the writer, possibly even to have him write a story for live-action X-Men projects.
The show was renewed for season 2 ahead of the first season’s premiere, and we know that season 3 is also in development. One of the things that make this show so great is definitely the music, and we are pleased to let you know that The Newton Brothers will return to compose the music for the upcoming season. This was confirmed by Taylor Newton Stewart in his interview with ‘The Direct.’

The beauty of “X-Men ’97” (currently streaming on Disney+) is that it’s more than just a nostalgia trip — it’s a very timely continuation of “X-Men: The Animated Series” that addresses today’s more complicated world while staying true to the spirit of the original. There’s a greater celebration of queer diversity (Morph has been redesigned as a non-binary shapeshifter) but also an accelerated powder keg of hate, which makes the mutants’ enemies much more formidable. This calls for drastic action, which is why the torch has been passed to former arch nemesis Magneto (Matthew Waterson) to lead the X-Men following the loss of Professor Xavier.
The 10-episode animated series also represents Marvel’s first “X-Men” project since regaining the rights from Fox and serves as a prelude to the franchise joining the MCU in this summer’s lone Marvel movie, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Yet it was vital...

Composers Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart, aka The Newton Brothers, score Stx Entertainment’s supernatural horror thriller, The Bye Bye Man.
The film stars Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount, Cressida Bonas and Doug Jones. Directed by Stacy Title and written by Jonathan Penner, “The Bye Bye Man” follows the story of three college students move into an old, off-campus house. They quickly find themselves hunted by a supernatural entity called The Bye Bye Man who may be responsible for possessing various people and causing them to commit killing sprees throughout recent history. The students discover the origins of the Bye Bye Man and find that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don’t say or think his name, because once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control.
Bye Bye Man opens in theatres on January 13, 2016. The soundtrack album featuring the score is available on Sony Classical.

Scaring people has become a lucrative business over the years and decades since Hollywood first embraced the concept of fear for fun. Some of the most profitable contemporary films in terms of investment-to-return ratio have been horror films. In theory, this sounds like a good thing. Unfortunately, profitability does not always equate to a film being a creative success. For those looking for casual scares that appeal to little more than our base reflexes, similar to riding a roller coaster, there is no shortage of options on the market. However, for those of us looking for something more in our horror films, the selection is more limited.
I am happy to report that Oculus satisfies that craving rather well. No. It’s not a perfect film, but few are these days. That really should go without saying anymore. The film’s marketing proudly announces “from the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidous.

Horror movies aren't exactly supposed to make you feel good. They're supposed to shock you. They're supposed to terrify you. And they're supposed to show you just how evil and horrifying the world can be.
If this clip from Zack Parker's Proxy (review) is any indication, it's one horror film that truly earns its place within the genre.
We must warn you that the clip you're about to see is incredibly disturbing, and it depicts a pregnant woman being savagely assaulted. Art is not safe, and this shocking opening sequence is proof of that fact. You have been warned.
Proxy will hit VOD outlets on April 18th, with a release at NYC's IFC Center on the same date. A wider theatrical rollout is expected to follow.

In his latest movie Proxy (review), indie filmmaker Zack Parker takes on some pretty brutal subject matter – the murder of a late-term fetus, lesbian obsession, secrets, lies, and stalkers. And that’s just for starters! Read on to see what Parker has to say about all this and more.
Dread Central: You've been making films since you were a child... What's the enduring fascination for you?
Zack Parker: I don’t think it’s something I can necessarily pinpoint. I’ve just always had a connection to movies. Almost felt I understood them in a strange way. My parents divorced when I was pretty young. My mother worked, so I was just one of those generation of kids that grew up in front of the television. That was the world I knew.
My dad bought a small Hi 8 video camera when I was eleven, and I just started making little short movies with them.
