Bob Iger bought himself time by extending his contract through 2026. But the Disney CEO still has a lot to juggle when he addresses Wall Street on Wednesday.
Normally a punctilious diplomat, Iger sent a shockwave through his company and the industry when he all but put Disney’s broadcast and cable networks up for sale by telling CNBC they “may not be core.” He’s on the hunt for strategic partners to take ESPN fully direct-to-consumer. And there’s still the Hulu deal he has to clinch with Comcast.
It all adds up to a heady moment and a heavy burden for the two-time CEO. On his first stint, he reshaped Disney by adding to it with acquisitions: Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Fox. Now he may have to subtract. The hard choices may end up being which ball to drop.
Challenges abound outside of these strategic dilemmas. Investors have raised concerns...

The 2023 BAFTA TV Awards are here with the red carpet just kicking off in London where the British version of the Emmys will be hosted by comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett. Usually, this event is paired with a classically grey and gloomy British sky despite being held annually in May. Today, however, the red carpet is shining brightly in the Spring sun as those of us here in the media center at the Royal Festival Hall, where this year’s TV BAFTAs are held, swelter at our laptops.
Down on the red carpet, Michelle Visage and Clara Amfo welcome viewers and guests alike as the first stars of this year’s awards begin to trickle in here in Waterloo, just beside the London Eye. There is a real mix of stars in attendance today. There are British TV presenters including “Strictly Come Dancing” judge Motsi Mabuse as well as...

Ahmedabad, May 6 (Ians) Gokulam Kerala Fc registered the biggest-ever win in an Indian Women’s Football League (Iwl) 2023 final-round game with a 14-1 thumping of Kahaani Fc at the Shahibaug Police Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
In other matches of the day, Misaka United shared the spoils with East Bengal, Mumbai Knights Fc returned to winning ways against Sports Odisha while Hops Fc registered a commanding win against Mata Rukmani Fc.
The day belonged to two-time defending champions Gokulam Kerala, who registered a thumping victory.
After seeing their record 21-match winning streak come to an end with a goalless draw against Misaka United on Thursday, Gokulam Kerala were again shocked when Kahaani took an early lead courtesy of a Ranjana Chanu own goal.
But after Sandhiya Ranganathan equalised in the 18th minute, there was no stopping the Malabarians. Goals from league top-scorer Sabitra Bhandari, Shilky Devi and Indhumathi Kathiresan put Gokulam 4-1 up at half-time.

Never before in the field of entertainment was so much owed by so many to so few. The comedians who appear on Taskmaster are brave souls willing to expose the inner workings of their minds for the sake of dumb fun (and a boost in tour and book sales).
Taskmaster is a great leveller that celebrates both genius and failure. There’s nowhere to hide. You can start off in week one as a famed intellectual, by week eight you’re the man who couldn’t successfully hide an aubergine. Exude cool as a stand-up on stage in your professional career? Try to maintain that composure while competitively throwing wet teabags into a mug and let’s see who’s the cool guy now.
It’s a show that rewards originality, unique thinking and commitment to absurdity and laughs. All of the contestants below demonstrated that and more, earning them...

Romesh Ranganathan has opened up about struggling with suicidal thoughts in his late teens and early twenties.
Appearing on the Diary of a CEO podcast, the stand-up comedian spoke candidly about contesting the “horrific” voice in his head, which had been at its strongest earlier in his life.
Describing the “really challenging” time, Ranganathan said: “I’ve got loads of memories of reacting really badly to things irrationally, over-the-top reactions. I didn’t do very well in my A Levels… and then when the A-Level results came, I was like, ‘This is the end. I can’t carry on.’
“I was thinking about taking my own life regularly. There were loads of times during that period when I thought about it and I’d fantasise about it… I’d spend time thinking about it.”
He continued: “That was the toughest time and then as I got older, I still had the same issues,...
