Vault director Tom DeNucci’s new film Johnny & Clyde is usually referred to as a “crime thriller”, but we’ve also heard that the story shifts gears to become a “balls-to-the-wall slasher/horror” flick. Since I have been a dedicated slasher fan since the 1980s, I’m looking forward to checking it out when it receives a theatrical and VOD release this Friday, May 5th. With the release just a few days away, a trailer for Johnny & Clyde has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Scripted by DeNucci and Nick Principe, Johnny & Clyde follows the two eponymous serial killers who are madly in love and on an endless crime spree. They have their sights set on robbing a prosperous casino run by crime boss Alana and her head of security.

If you’re a fan of heist films, I’ve got a trailer here for you to watch for an upcoming movie called Vault, which is set in the 1970s.
The film is said to be based on a true story, and it follows a group of small time criminals in 1975 “who attempt to pull off the biggest heist in American history – stealing over $30 million from the Mafia in the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island.”
The movie was directed by Rhode Island native filmmaker Tom DeNucci, and it looks like a pretty good film that I’ll most likely end up checking out. The movie stars Theo Rossi, Clive Standen, Chazz Palminteri, Samira Wiley, Don Johnson, William Forsythe, Burt Young, Andrew Divoff, Sean Ringgold, Vincent Pastore, Dorothy Lyman, and Chuck Zito.
The movie is set to be released on June 14th on VOD.

"Anybody crosses Raymond gets buried." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for a low budget, direct-to-vod heist thriller titled Vault, set in the 1970s and seemingly based on a true story (maybe but also maybe not?). Made by Rhode Island native filmmaker Tom DeNucci, Vault is about a group of small time criminals who attempt to pull off the biggest heist in American history -- stealing over $30 million from the Mafia working in the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island. The ensemble cast includes Theo Rossi, Clive Standen, Chazz Palminteri, Samira Wiley, Don Johnson, William Forsythe, Burt Young, Andrew Divoff, Sean Ringgold, Vincent Pastore, Dorothy Lyman, and Chuck Zito. This looks like a forgettable, wannabe Scorsese crime film that no one will watch. Nothing to worry about here, move along. When you think of high profile bank robberies, you don’t normally think of Rhode Island. The tiny state isn’t a hallmark for cinematic settings, but Vault is the exception to that rule. This film, opening this week, seeks to put Rhode Island on the map, at least when ti comes to gangsters and bank heists. It’s an intriguing idea, as this particular story is one most won’t have any clue exists. Alas, the execution here, while fine, never makes an effective case for its own existence. The movie won’t ever bore you, but at the same time, it rarely compels you either. The film is a crime tale, based on a true story. Taking place in 1975, it’s a depiction of what would become one of the biggest heists in American history. When we meet Deuce (Theo Rossi) and Chucky (Clive Standen), they’re just...

In the Netflix biopic “The Dirt,” Pete Davidson of “Saturday Night Live” fame portrays A&R exec Tom Zutaut, the man who signed Motley Crue to Elektra and Guns N’ Roses to Geffen, while veteran character actor David Costabile is manager Doc McGhee. They follow in a long and illustrious line of label executives portrayed on screen, ranging from critical and box-office hits like “Ray” and “La Bamba” to lesser-seen music pics like “Cbgb” and “The Runaways.” Here’s our list of 10 of the most memorable:

"Keep to yourself, mind your own business, because this is the last stop for you." A trailer has arrived for an indie crime drama titled Wetlands (not to be confused with the German sex comedy of the same name), which is hitting theaters in a few weeks. From first-time director Emanuele Della Valle, this stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (from Get Rich or Die Tryin', G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Thor: The Dark World, Trumbo, Suicide Squad) as a top cop from Philly who finds himself working in a precinct in the Wetlands, the no-man's land surrounding Atlantic City, New Jersey. There he mixes with locals before the infamous hurricane arrives and threatens to destroy lives. The full cast includes Heather Graham, Jennifer Ehle, Anthony Mackie, Christopher McDonald, Rob Morgan, Lauren Lavera, Sean Ringgold, Louis Mustillo, Tyler Elliot Burke, Pamela Dunlap, and Barry Markowitz. This looks solid, but not sure. Take a look.

There’s more than meets the eye to Netflix’s timely and thought-provoking Marvel series “Luke Cage,” which recently debuted to much fanfare, critical acclaim and maybe even temporary service outage.
Whether you’re one of the dedicated who have already binged all 13 episodes or are slowly savoring each installment, there’s plenty happening on the screen beyond the main action. Some of it may be obvious, such as when a street hawker in the first episode (selling DVDs of The Incident in “The Avengers”) refers to Tony Stark, “the blonde dude with the hammer, the old dude with the shield, the green monster and I don’t mean Fenway.”

Many of the references may not be so blatant though or of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it variety. Here’s a breakdown of just some of the fun references made that we caught on the first pass.

Hope you're nearly ready for some serious ass-kicking because Luke Cage is now only fourteen days out. We've started to see a handful of clips and promos in recent days, but now Marvel has gone ahead and started unveiling character posters for the upcoming season, which coincidentally bear a striking resemblance to the character posters used by sister shows Daredevil & Jessica Jones. We saw the official poster yesterday, and today, we have a brand new still from Marvel's next Netflix series Luke Cage! Canceled soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" have officially gotten the axe -- again.
Prospect Park, the company that promised to start an online network to re-launch the beloved soaps online, announced today that it has run into so many hurdles in trying to negotiate contracts for the soaps' new leases on life that it will be impossible to continue.
Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz of Prospect Park issued a joint statement with the news, saying, "After five months of negotiations with various guilds, hundreds of presentations to potential financial and technology partners, and a hope that we could pioneer a new network for the future, it is with great disappointment that we are suspending our aspirations to revive 'One Life to Live' and 'All My Children' via online distribution."

Fans eagerly awaiting "All My Children's" return in January (albeit in online form) should probably stop holding their breath -- new reports say that the beloved-but-canceled soap will likely not return until much later in 2012.
According to Variety, Prospect Park, the company that plans to resurrect "AMC" and fellow canceled soap "One Life to Live," which ends its 43-year run in January, has hit a wall in negotiations to bring both shows online and plans will need to be pushed back by several months.
While many "Oltl" stars have signed on to continue the show online, including Erika Slezak, Michael Easton, Ted King, Kassie DePaiva and Sean Ringgold, "AMC" actors haven't been as receptive. Only Cameron Mathison and Lindsey Hartley are officially in, with Susan Lucci declining the offer outright.

Sourcebooks Sells Early E-Installments of Days Of Our Lives Books
Sourcebooks is testing a new model in which it is selling early access to books connected with the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Although CEO Dominique Raccah said “very few” people have paid $9.95 to become members of the DaysInsider Early Access program so far, it’s “significantly more than we expected.”
The program launched earlier this month as a subscription-based Web site that gives fans early access to two new books in the publisher’s Days Of Our Lives series. The promotion coincides with the show’s 45th anniversary.
The creator-writer-executive producer of Lone Star, the short-lived and critically acclaimed 20th Century Fox Television show about a Texas con-man, still believes the series could air on cable television. “We have 6 completed episodes that function nicely as a mini-season and we’d love to find a home for that,” Killen told Speakeasy on the eve of this year’s Austin Film Festival and Conference, where he’s speaking this weekend and the Lone Star pilot will be shown.
