Pairs means two!
Pardon us if we quote The Cutting Edge like mad, but the Winter Olympics awarded the pairs’ figure skating medals on Nbcsn and NBC Wednesday night, and the whole thing put us in a Moseley/Dorsey kinda mood.
Sadly, no one attempted the Pamchenko during the free skate competition at South Korea’s Gangeung Ice Arena. But the evening did provide plenty of drama, with several couples landing in the top three slots immediately following their performances… only to be bumped by the competition one or two routines later.

The top figure skating pair teams in the world came together in PyeongChang on Tuesday night for the 2018 Olympic Games’ pairs short program.
Going into the event, all eyes were on Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim, the sole U.S. pair team at the Olympics.
The two-time U.S. national champions had already picked up a bronze medal in the team event, for which they skated both the short and long programs. But for Tuesday’s short program, the couple — who began skating together in 2012 and married in June 2016 — was considered a bit of an underdog team. They’d...

Fifty Shades of Grey may seem like a bit of a risqué inspiration for a competitive figure skating routine, but it appeared to work like magic for the French pairs team of Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres.
The duo recently performed a stunning program to The Weeknd’s “Earned It” from the movie’s soundtrack at the Isu European Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 26. Between lifts, throws, and other elements performed with startling precision, the pair managed to emote a sexy modesty fitting for both the venue and the film. James’ dress even...

Warning: Don't keep reading if you'd like to remain unspoiled as to the pairs figure skating results from the 2014 Winter Olympics. The competition will be part of NBC's primetime broadcast Wednesday (Feb. 12), starting at 8 p.m. Et/Pt.
It was expected that the gold medal fight in pairs figure skating would come down to the German pair of Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy and the Russian pair of Tatyana Volosozhar/Maksim Trankov (pictured above), but two costly falls by the Germans let the Russian pair take gold and dropped the Germans down to bronze. Another Russian pair, Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov, earned silver.
The U.S. pair of Marissa Castelli/Simon Shnapir finished in ninth place and the other U.S. pair of Felicia Zhang/Nathan Batholomay came in 12th, both respectable skates for the Team USA pairs.

Warning: Don't keep reading if you want to remain spoiler-free on the figure skating results from Tuesday (Feb. 11). They will be part of NBC's primetime coverage this evening starting at 8 p.m. Et/Pt (hosted by Matt Lauer, as Bob Costas has been sidelined with an eye infection).
With the team figure skating competition complete at the 2014 Winter Olympics, the skaters are looking to their individual competitions. Kicking things off Tuesday was the pairs short program -- short and long programs are combined to determine the medal standings.
The Russians dominated the pairs short program, earning the first and third spots with a German pair in between. The U.S. pair of Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir (above) finished in 9th place, but they scored a 67.44, which was more than three points higher than the same program scored in the team competition. Warning: Don't keep reading if you would like to remain spoiler-free for the team figure skating opening competition, the men's short program. It will be featured in primetime Thursday (Feb. 6) on NBC.
The men launched figure skating at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Thursday with the short programs that will count toward the new team figure skating event. The scoring is done the same way as in the individual competition, but then for the team score, each man is ranked 1-10, with first place earning 10 points, second earning nine points and so forth.
U.S. skater Jeremy Abbott (above, left) wasn't the favorite to finish first, but he was expected to do fairly well. That's not what happened. He earned the lowest score he's received in competition in years after a fall and then turning a couple triple jumps into a double and a single.

Taking a page from the hallucinatory “what if” stories in the vein of Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s “Normal Again,” tonight’s Sgu gave us “Cloverdale”, a character study into the mind of Lt. Matthew Scott after he’s been attacked by a hallucinatory flesh-eating organism, propelling him to a small town named Cloverdale where he’s about to marry Chloe.
The show starts with Scott coming home to Cloverdale with Greer to meet his “father” Col. Young and his future “brother-in-law” Eli. Before he reaches them, Scott is hit by a car driven by Brody. Other shipmates in this fantasy include Dr. Volker, who is the town’s pharmacist; Vanessa James, Scott’s ex and a barmaid at Brody’s; Tj as a paramedic; Col. Telford, who is the town sheriff; and Dr. Rush, who is the pastor presiding over the wedding.

Sgu gave us a double tap to the face with two revelations tonight. Bear with me while I bandage my face from the onslaught I just endured…
The Keys to Destiny’s Command
Rush awakes from a nightmare of Lucian Alliance torture. He goes to the console room, where he berates Dr. Park before going on a ‘walk.’ Said walk leads him to a door, where he cautiously enters a code and the door opens to reveal…
The bridge of the ship.
As Rush marvels at his newfound discovery, he’s accompanied by an apparition of his dead wife Gloria, who pretty much says what’s on Rush’s (and the audiences’) mind.
“You’re not going tell anyone… are you?”
Son of a…
Rush begins to speculate that the Destiny has some greater purpose than what he originally thought. Gloria entertains, and sometimes counters, Rush’s thoughts, which drives the ‘good’ doctor mad.

Justin Bieber isn't just popular with tweens and Twitter, but on Bet as well.
The Bieb is nominated for Best New Artist for the 10th annual Bet Awards, which will take place Sunday, June 27 on Bet, hosted by Queen Latifah.
Giving Bieber a run for his money are Melanie Fiona, Nicki Minaj, Wale and Young Money.
Drake has the most nominations overall, but Jay-z (who killed it during the Betty White "Saturday Night Live" episode) and Minaj also got five noms apiece.
Drake has four of his own nominations (Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, collaborations: two for "Successful" and one for "Forever") and three as part of Young Money.
Hov has five nominations: Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Viewers' Choice, Video of the Year and two collaborations -- "Empire State of Mind" and "Run This Town." And Minaj has her own five. Besides the Best New Artist we mentioned before, she's also...

In Best New Artist category, Bieber will go head-to-head with Melanie Fiona, Nicki Minaj, Wale and Young Money. After performing at the World Series, headlining a 9/11 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden and being named MTV News' Hottest Mc in the Game, it's no surprise that Jay-z received the most nominations for the upcoming 2010 Bet Awards.
The Brooklyn Mc scored nods in the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration ("Empire State of Mind"), Video of the Year ("Empire State of Mind" and "Run this Town") and Viewer's Choice categories to lead the way with five nominations, it was announced Tuesday (May 18).
Teen heart throb Justin Bieber picked up a surprise nomination for Best New Artist, his only recognition. "That was not a joke," Bet executive Stephen Hill said, laughing in response to the singer's nod.

Sgu delivered an episode that equally balanced the phenomenal with the cringe-worthy, but the overall product proved to be another great episode as Sgu enters the second half of it's 1.5 season.
Life Kinda Moves On…
As Col. Young gives the crew of the Destiny a speech on the importance of rationing due to the ship being in between galaxies and the loss of Lt. Scott, Eli, and Chloe, he gets a call from Dr. Rush to add more fuel to the drama. The Destiny has been shutting itself down to conserve energy, because it knows that it probably won't make it to the other galaxy in full power. Womp, womp, wooooommmmmmmp….
A meeting is held with Col. Young, Dr. Rush, Camile, Drs. Brody and Volker so they try to come up with a solution to their newfound problem, because while the Destiny can drift to the next galaxy, they won't live to see the day.

After hearing that this week's episode of Sgu was going to feature a backstory for Greer, one of my favorite characters on the show, I felt that it was going to be a great hour of Sgu on the scale of last week's "Human". Now after watching it, I should smack myself for not following my own rules on the Hype Machine. Was the episode terrible? Hell no. Was it as good as "Human"? Not quite. Was I satisfied with what I learned about Greer? Yep, just wanted more of it. Instead, what started out as two story lines (the Destiny looking for the offworld team and the offworld team themselves) turned into four, maybe five. In short, there was a lot going on, but not enough on Greer, who got the 'spotlight' treatment this week. In the end, it was damn good episode. I'm through yakking for now. Time for the recap!

Last night's Sgu bounced back with one of the best episodes of the series to date. We finally found out what makes Dr. Rush tick, and the answer gave me a new view of the 'mad' doctor that might change everything. Meanwhile, an offworld team is in peril. I mean Real peril.
The Set Up
Rush awakes in his bed… No, not his bed on the Destiny, but his bed at home. No, he's not using the communication stones, but this is a flashback. He stares adoringly at a woman laying beside him and I presume this is his significant other, Gloria (guest star Louise Lombard). He gets up, immediately writes some notes in a notepad and leaves the room.
Gloria appears in the kitchen, noticing that Rush is acting weird. She reminds him of a doctor's appointment, to which Rush says he can't make it to. This hurts Gloria.

Ok, I might be the only person who was conflicted by last night's Sgu episode, "Faith". Conflicted in a sense of 1) trying to figure out why the people were drawn to this planet, 2) why the mystery of the obelisk wasn't solved, and 3) how many people actually stayed behind to basically die a lonely death. I am getting ahead of myself, but is there anyone else out there who understands my incertitude, please let me know?

After a too long hiatus, Stargate Universe returned to television screens last night and boy did it bring a load of baggage with them. Wanted aliens? Got 'em. Wanted a solution to the crazy cliffhanger from last fall/winter? Got 'em. Did Young get what was coming to him? Read the recap to find out.
The Set Up
Life on the Destiny has somewhat returned to normal, but that doesn't mean that Young is feeling good about himself over abandoning Rush. Tj tries to get Young to talk about his problems, but he doesn't want to. Camile Wray has already made it up in her mind that Young left Rush behind, which Young denies only because he knows that Camile doesn't have any solid proof except the thick animosity between the scientist and the grunt. Oh, and the fact that Camile is still power hungry doesn't help her case either.

Tonight's Sgu ended with a whimper of a shocker and the Rush vs. Young feud came to a head and bursted like a disgusting pimple. I will just get right to it.
The Set Up
After finding an other delicacy besides the slop the crew of the Destiny have been eating, it is revealed that Spencer has not reported for duty. Greer goes to Spencer's quarters to see what's up and finds Spencer's brains on the wall and Spencer dead on the bed.
Uh. Oh.
Greer phones in the death to Col. Young and Camile and when they get there, the arguing and finger pointing starts. Camile wants to know why Spencer even had access to a gun (hello, he's a military officer!!?!), but when Young declares that Spencer was trained to operate one, Camile states that Spencer was not stable and it could have been anyone else dead. How did you like the Sgu-Kino Vol. 1 webisode recaps? Well, if you loved them here goes Vol. 2 like I promised. After one of the most bizarre hours of Sci-Fi TV that I have ever seen (tonight's Sgu- "Time" episode), I feel in the mood to explore more of the Destiny. How about you?
Let's begin with webisode 11!
Webisode 11 – Kino Race
Riley and Eli race two Kinos and nearly takes off Camile's head in the process. Or I think it was Camile… Hey, they got to have fun somehow, right?
Webisode 12 – Covered Kino
Vanessa James gets ready to take a steam shower and spots the Kino watching her. She rightfully covers it up. I bet it was Riley, that weasel…
Webisode 13 – "Variety"
A scientist and Chef Airman Becker create formulas to make different flavors for food, for instance, banana. Chef Becker asks if there is any chance they could make chocolate,...

An offworld adventure?! No Way! That was my first thought when the first frame of Sgu came across my screen tonight.

The show opens with the crew coming through the gate unto a dense jungle area. The whole scene is seen through Kino Vision!!!!
Eli works the nerves of just about everyone since he is playing with the Kino and not working on stuff, which is kind of messed up with most of the soldiers walking around looking 'cute' and not lending a hand. Eli comes across Tj and soldier laughing extremely hard and figures it's about him. The group finds some fruits, but don't know if they are edible. Oh you knew it was coming. Here I was, innocently studying the last episode of Sgu (Darkness), pen in hand, scribbling notes for further intelligent discussion when Blamo!, out came the Boobs. And not just any boobs. Gone was the tension I was experiencing contemplating the poor lost castaways, marooned and airless, followed by lightness and now on a smack-down course with a big ball of fusion. Instead, it was chest high closeup shots of a really magnificent Sci-Fi rack courtesy of the lovely and talented Canadian beauty Julie Anderson playing Vanessa James. I now have tension of a different sort. I have dug through the mighty data vault here at SciFiCool to bring you more delightful sights of the beautiful and gifted female cast members of Stargate Universe. Enjoy them below.

Dark Rising thinks it’s really funny. It’s not. Not so much a horror/comedy but a fantasy-esque/comedy with a monster, the film drowns itself in a lot of contorted wacky faces, broad shoulder shrugs, silly runs and musical cues that only emphasize how flat the punchlines have fallen.
The movie follows Jason (Landy Cannon), who has just been dumped by his high-school sweetheart Jasmine (Vanessa James) after having dated her forever. Jason has a plan, though: He and his jerky best friend Ricky (played by Jay Reso, a.k.a. WWE wrestler Christian) are going camping with Jasmine and her friends Renee (Julia Schneider) and Marlene (Haley Shannon); along the way, he can win her back. The problem is that Jasmine and Marlene are now more than just friends, and although Jason has dreamy hair, there’s no way he can contend with gratuitous lesbianism. Meanwhile, Renee...

Ah, to aspire to B-movie status and nothing more. Gone are the expectations of special effects, production values or even really having a plot. On the other hand, it leaves plenty of room for a movie full of comical interactions and out-of-this world setups that audiences just go along with. Dark Rising takes all these B-movie benefits and just piles on the cleavage, the fantastic plots and men in demon costumes. Lesbians? Yup. Scantily clad babes? Uh huh. Nonsensical greatness? A little bit of that too.
Jason (Landy Cannon) is just another one of those sad sack guys who can’t accept that his relationship with a girl has ended. He mopes around and pines non-stop about how great things were while his friend Ricky (Jason Reso) tries to convince him otherwise.
Meanwhile, Jasmine (Vanessa James), Jason’s ex-girlfriend, is busy buying a book on witchcraft with her two friends...
