Although acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky stated that he would be directing an Elon Musk biopic at A24, this is not going to be his next movie, if reports are true. Namely, recent news suggests that Aronofsky is actually working on a crime thriller based on a book by Charlie Huston. The movie’s title is probably going to be Caught Stealing and as Empire confirms, the movie will star Oscar-nominee Austin Butler in the main role of Hank Thompson.
While speaking to Deadline, Aronofsky said the following about his upcoming project:
“I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”

Austin Butler's career is certainly on fire at the moment, between his scene-stealing role in Dune: Part Two and his small screen work on Masters Of The Air. So naturally, he's in demand. The actor has now landed another plum role, starring in Darren Aronofsky's next film, Caught Stealing.
The Whale's director has author Charlie Huston adapting his own novel, which follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a burned-out former baseball player whose neighbor lands him with a cat and a whole world of trouble. He's soon deep within the New York crime scene, running for his life and trying to figure out what he's truly gotten himself into.

Elvis and Dune: Part Two actor Austin Butler is to star in Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller, Caught Stealing.
Austin Butler has developed a taste for working with directors of a certain merit, and you can’t argue with the results. Since 2019, Butler has acted in films by Jim Jarmusch, Quentin Tarantino, Baz Luhrman (in his breakout role as Elvis Presley) and Dennis Villeneuve. The latter saw him take the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the recently-released Dune: Part Two, and there’s no arguing that he was able to take a relatively limited amount of screen time and produce an antagonist who will live long in the memory.
Next, Butler has The Bikeriders coming up, directed by Jeff Nichols. Then there’s Eddington with Ari Aster, not to mention those rumours regarding a role in Michael Mann’s upcoming sequel to Heat. It’s an impressive list and yet,...

Marking his first feature in five years, Election and Drug War director Johnnie To has quietly embarked on his next project. Although no official details have been announced regarding the title or plot, HK01 (via Frank Yan) spotted To filming a scene with Hong Kong pop star Anson Lo, who plays a driver in the film. There’ll surely be more to come, but it’s exciting to see one of our great directors back at work.
Darren Aronofsky has found his next film and star. Following The Whale, he’ll direct Austin Butler in Caught Stealing, Deadline reports, a sports crime drama scripted by Charlie Huston based on his own book. Austin Butler is continuing his auteur collaborations, this time partnering up with Darren Aronofsky.
Butler, who was Oscar-nominated for his breakout transformative “Elvis” role, is set to lead Aronofsky’s upcoming feature “Caught Stealing.” Novelist Charlie Huston will adapt his own work for the screen. Protozoa is producing the Sony crime thriller. The novel is the first installment of Huston’s Henry Thompson trilogy series.
“Caught Stealing” was originally set for an adaptation in 2013 with Patrick Wilson cast in the lead role, now occupied by Butler. The story follows Hank Thompson, a former high school baseball prospect turned alcoholic bartender who gets caught up in a treasure hunt through New York City. A sadistic police officer tries to outrun Thompson, hitmen, and mobsters to find the treasure. Alec Baldwin was cast as the cop in the 2013 iteration that was slated to be written by David Hayter and directed by Wayne Kramer.

Austin Butler may not be confirmed to be co-starring in Michael Mann’s Heat 2, but the Masters of the Air actor has now been reported to be set to be the lead in Caught Stealing. The former Disney and Nickelodeon child actor is capitalizing on his breakout film with roles in the recently released Dune: Part Two, where he plays the ruthless Feyd-Rautha. However, Butler hasn’t turned his back on smaller films, as he is set to co-star alongside Tom Hardy in Jeff Nichols’ period drama, The Bikeriders.

Coming off his creepy villain turn in Dune: Part Two, Austin Butler is lining up a new feature.
Butler will star in the crime thriller Caught Stealing, which hails from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. Sony has acquired the package, which is based on the book by Charlie Huston, and per the logline, it “follows Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s NYC.”

Butler rose to new levels of critical acclaim with 2022’s Elvis, the Baz Luhrmann biopic that earned Butler his first Oscar nomination. In Dune: Part Two, Butler earned a strong reaction for his work as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the psychotic villain who goes toe-to-toe with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Coming up, he has 1960s motorcycle drama The Bikeriders out in June.

Add DC’s Strange Adventures to the list of HBO Max projects that have recently been placed on the chopping block following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.
Writer and director Kevin Smith first shared on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast that the DC Comics series will not be moving forward at the streaming service. Sources have confirmed to Deadline that that is, in fact, the case.
Strange Adventures was given a green light for development, along with a Green Lantern-inspired show, in 2019. Green Lantern appears to still remain on track.
Smith, who was set to direct and co-write an episode of the series, said on the podcast that the episode was to have revolved around Bizarro and Jimmy Olsen.
“[Axing Strange Adventures] kind of made sense to me — nobody necessarily knows these characters, and it sounded like an expensive show,” Smith said on the podcast.

This article contains Moon Knight episode 2 spoilers.
Moon Knight Episode 2
So far, Marvel’s Moon Knight hasn’t exactly been as heavy on the Marvel Comics and MCU references as some of the other Disney+ shows have been. The first episode was a pretty standalone affair, and one which made it clear that it was departing from the traditional comics vision of Moon Knight in some pretty substantial ways.
But Moon Knight episode 2 drops a couple of interesting ones if you know where to look. They aren’t Earth-shattering, and they aren’t the kind that are going to change the face of the MCU, but if you’re a Moon Knight fan, there are some really fun nods in here.

It’s hard to explain Marvel’s Moon Knight on the best of days. The former mercenary-turned-vigilante can mostly be found after dark on the streets of New York City, protecting those who travel by night as the earthly avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. But the man behind the mask, Marc Spector, also has Dissociative Identity Disorder, which means that he can flip between alternate identities like that of ‘Steven Grant’ and ‘Jake Lockley’.
He’s a complex character who now has almost 50 years of comics under his belt. As a result, it can be a bit daunting if you’re looking for a way into his Marvel Comics history and aren’t sure where to start. Luckily, we’re here to help you as much as we can by isolating some of his best offerings to date!

Oscar Isaac is in talks to play Marc Spector, the lead superhero on upcoming Disney Plus show “Moon Knight,” according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Moon Knight is a fascinating character, because while on the surface he comes off like Marvel’s attempt to rip off Batman, his powers are actually magical, weird mystical abilities tied either to an ancient Egyptian god and the moon — or to his fractured psyche. More on that in a moment.
Created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin in 1975, Moon Knight debuted in Marvel’s “Werewolf by Night,” where he’s introduced hunting the title character before teaming up with him instead (the two have generally been allies ever since). Moon Knight’s story goes like this: his real name is Marc Spector, and he’s the Jewish son of a rabbi who fled to the United States from Czechoslovakia during World War II.

HBO Max will be home to Strange Adventures, a new anthology series starring Adam Strange set in the DC Universe.
Greg Berlanti, already the busiest man in superhero TV, if not all of Hollywood, isn't slowing down any time soon. With HBO Max continuing to unveil new shows in the leadup to its May 2020 launch, they're also going all in on their DC superhero live action shows. In addition to Doom Patrol season 2 and a new series called DC Superhero High (from executive producer Elizabeth Banks), they've enlisted Berlanti to create two new DC shows. The first is a mysterious Green Lantern project, and the other is Strange Adventures.
HBO says that Strange Adventures "will feature characters from across the DC canon" and the one-hour drama "will explore close-ended morality tales about the intersecting lives of mortals and superhumans." But they also promise that central to this is "about "Adam Strange,...

Friday evening’s Disney+ panel at the D23 Expo was wild, with new shows and movies introduced left and right — including no fewer than three new Marvel shows, all of which will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while “Ms. Marvel” and “She-Hulk” might grab the biggest attention from McU fans, the most immediately intriguing announcement, at least to us, was “Moon Knight.”
No disrespect to Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk as characters, of course — but they are logical choices to add to the McU. Moon Knight, on the other hand, is a super weird character and what his place might be in the greater McU isn’t clear at all. But this sort of oddball choice has worked out pretty well in the past for Marvel. Just look at Ant-Man, who was a similarly strange choice of headliner when his movie was announced years ago.

This review is based off a volume that collects Punisher: Trial of the Punisher #1-2, Bullseye: Perfect Game #1-2 and material from Daredevil #500.
It’s not very often that I get to review a trade paperback that’s an anthology in the purest sense, so I find myself most fortunate that this one – Punisher & Bullseye: Deadliest Hits – focuses heavily on one of my favorite Marvel characters, Frank Castle.
Before delving into the content itself, I can’t help but voice my bewilderment as to why the co-headliners were even paired for this compilation. I mean, this isn’t a Punisher vs. Bullseye book by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, Daredevil is the connecting thread here, as he does appear in each story in some capacity. In fact, they could’ve easily put his name on this book, which may have even boosted sales.
But, there are various factors to consider,...

After Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns, few creative types have had as big an influence over the current state of superhero TV than Brian Michael Bendis. Netflix's current line of Marvel Comics shows may as well be called the Bendis Cinematic Universe, since in the comics he co-created Jessica Jones, promoted Luke Cage from Marvel's C-list into the vital character he is today, and wrote one of the definitive modern Daredevil runs. (He also put Iron Fist into the Avengers, though it remains to be seen what comics influences his upcoming Netflix show will draw upon.) He's also co-creator of Powers, a comic about human cops who investigate murders tied to superheroes and villains, and an executive producer of the TV version, which is in the midst of its second season on the PlayStation Network. And during an appearance at the Atx Television Festival earlier this month, Bendis let slip...

Powers – the comic book show from PlayStation, with Sharlto Copley – got off to a shaky start. Thankfully, it improved over time…

Sony and PlayStation Plus will bring back the Powers comic book drama next year. There'll be a new showrunner needed, though…
Clearly, Sony were happy with how PlayStation Plus' first original series Powers (based on - but rather different to - the brilliant comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming) performed: they’ve just announced a second season for 2016.
Here’s Sony's statement: "The reception to Powers has been incredible and we are thrilled to have successfully launched a platform for original content with the PlayStation gamer in mind. We believe original content will continue to be a key pillar as we broaden the value proposition for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited for what’s to come with season two of Powers."
Interestingly, showrunner Charlie Huston has concurrently departed the show. Here’s his full statement:

Early in Brian Michael Bendis' career in comics, before Marvel gave him the chance to reinvent Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Avengers and the X-Men, he wrote a terrific autobiographical comic called "Fortune and Glory," about his struggles to get his early film noir-style comics adapted into movies. He runs through the usual inside showbiz stories of near-misses and ridiculous studio notes, but is also very open about how much he had to learn about the differences in writing for the page and the screen. (He's embarrassed to realize, for instance, that much of his dialogue is too dense to come out of the mouths of actors and sound natural.) Bendis has been on a much longer and more convoluted journey with "Powers," the comic he and Michael Avon Oeming created about a pair of human homicide detectives in a world overrun by superhumans, and which debuts today as the first...

Eisner-winning comic Powers is making its live action debut via PlayStation Network this evening, but how will it differ to the original?
The first run of the Powers comic, which picked up an Eisner award for best new series back in 2001, was subtitled Who Killed Retro Girl?. It saw detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim team-up for the first of many superhero-based investigations, the murder of Retro Girl. However, the upcoming TV show will be taking a different route.
“Brian [Michael Bendis, who wrote the comic] has said they never expected to do more than a half dozen issues because they didn't think anyone would buy it, so they killed Retro Girl right away,” said the show’s executive producer Charlie Huston.
“The weakness is, you are killing a huge hero in your world, depending on everyone talking about her and telling you how awesome she is to have an impact. […] Then we were like, ‘Why...

With all of the new series coming out in 2015, from Better Call Saul to iZombie to Westworld, it would be understandable if people had forgotten about Sony’s first original series Powers, but as this trailer for the series illustrates, you shouldn’t. Sony announced today that the show, which is a live action adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Icon Comics series Powers, will premiere on the PlayStation Network on Tuesday, March 10. “I’m happy to report that production has wrapped on all 10 episodes of Powers,” Bendis posted on PlayStation’s blog earlier today. “Under the skillful hands of our showrunners Charlie Huston and Remi Aubuchon (Falling Skies), our amazing directors, writers, cast and crew, the episodes are coming together beautifully.” The first three episodes of Powers will debut on March 10, with one episode per week after that, always being released on Tuesday. Sony has provided an update on the status of its PlayStation-exclusive superhero series, Powers, which is due to premiere on the platform on March 10.
Based on the eponymous comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the TV show will be headed up by Chappie star Sharlto Copley opposite Susan Heyward. In the series, they play two detectives — namely Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, respectively — who specialize in all things abnormal.
Sony’s original show will encompass ten hour-long episodes, with the first arriving on March 10. In effort to give PlayStation owners a taste of the action, the company is making the pilot episode free to everyone. As for the rest of Powers, users will have to own a PlayStation Plus subscription to view the remainder of the season, and it’s understood that anybody who already holds one of these subscriptions (priced at $50 for the year) can...

A new photo of the core cast members of PlayStation Network's "Powers," the first scripted series to be produced for the gaming console giant's live service, has gone online. The show's executive producer Brian Michael Bendis posted the photo on his Tumblr account this weekend.
The shot features Michelle Forbes as Retro Girl, Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim, Olesya Rulin as Calista, Eddie Izzard as 'Big Bad' Wolfe and Noah Taylor as Johnny Royalle.
David Slade, who set the tone for "Hannibal" with that show's premiere episode, also helmed the first episode of this. Showrunner Charlie Huston penned the first episode. Still no word as to when the show will be available, though it is expected very soon.

USA Today has posted the first official photo of Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as "Powers" lead characters Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim on the set of the Sony PlayStation Network series. "It's such a clever concept to try and imagine a real world where you actually have to deal with powers and how they impact society, and to do that through the lens of a cop drama," executive producer Charlie Huston told USA Today. Although "Powers" is based on the comic of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, Bendis said the television series would actually be a "different experience" than the source material. "My dream was for the show and the books to almost run in parallel universes as they explore the same themes," Bendis said.

The first season will run 10 episodes and will be produced by Sony Pictures Television...
