Aragorn might be the main focus of the film
While the new The Lord of the Rings film is titled The Hunt for Gollum, it might not be entirely about the Ring-corrupted creature.

5 Unsung Heroes of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Main Image
The Lord of the Rings trilogy tells the epic quest of Frodo to destroy the One Ring in Mordor and save Middle-earth from the threat of the Dark Lord Sauron. Though he’s the only one capable of bearing the Ruling Ring without succumbing to its dominance, he doesn’t do it alone.
Sure, the story focuses on Frodo and the other main characters, but several others have come to his aid to ensure victory.
From the more minor roles whose achievements are often overlooked to the warriors who have made great sacrifices to face Sauron’s armies, here are the top five unsung heroes of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

5 Sexiest Characters in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Main Image

Middle-earth is filled with many fascinating characters, and here are the top five sexiest who rule them all.
There’s a reason The Lord of the Rings trilogy is heavily regarded as one of the greatest and most influential film series of all time, and it’s easy to see why.
For one, its critical and financial success stems from perfectly adapting J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. However, the attractive people in this fantasy world make the experience more worthwhile.
Who doesn’t want to see gorgeous men swinging their swords in their charming cloaks or women bravely fighting the enemies while their hair and gowns are enticingly flowing?...

In 2001, Liv Tyler debuted as Elf maiden Arwen Undómie in the feature film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, directed by Peter Jackson.
Co-starring with Cate Blanchett, she reprised her role in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, the second installment of the series, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the last installment.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth mythology includes several epic and powerful love stories. Aragorn and Arwen are probably the best known thanks to the Lord of the Rings films, plus Sam and Rosie get married at the end, and the extended editions also feature Éowyn and Faramir’s relationship, though that one was a bit rushed even in the books. But book fans also know the stories of Tuor and Idril, Elwing and Eärendil, and the rather more tragic story of Aegnor and Andreth, among others.
The love story that meant the most to Tolkien himself, though, was the story of Beren and Lúthien, which was directly inspired by the writer’s own life.
The story of Beren and Lúthien is one of very few stories about the First and Second Ages of Middle-earth told, in a brief and summarized form, in The Lord of the Rings itself. Fuller versions can...

When adapting any great work of literature, or even one that is just mid, filmmakers and visual artists will be forced to make changes big and small for any myriad of reasons. Sometimes it is due to the economy of storytelling in a truncated form—such as the famous example of Scarlett O’Hara’s number of children shrinking from three to one in Gone with the Wind. Other times, the changes are made because the requirements of a visual medium shifts the structure of the story; like showing the massacre at Hardhome by ice zombies in Game of Thrones instead of simply reading about it in a letter. There are even times when the filmmaker wants to put a modern spin on the text. This would be how every Dracula now is a sexy rock star god.
But then, dear reader, there are times when the filmmaker or screenwriter sees...

It is well known that The Lord of the Rings is a very long book, so long that the original publishers insisted on dividing it into three volumes. And so it is hardly surprising that not every character in the book made it into the major screen adaptations directed and produced by Peter Jackson, and often with good reason. Many of them do not need any special mention; there’s no need to list every Orc that did not get individually named or every minor Hobbit character at Bilbo’s birthday party.
However, some of the characters who did not quite make the cut could have made great additions to the screen versions, if only time had allowed. Here are characters who did not make it into the films, but who we’d love to see have their day on the big screen, or if anyone ever makes a long-running...

It is pretty well known among fans that George R. R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire books upon which Game of Thrones is based, has a double-edged relationship with J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings. On the one hand, like every other fantasy author of the 20th and 21st centuries, Martin has been heavily influenced by Tolkien and is more than happy to say so. He has spoken many times about his love of The Lord of the Rings and how he thinks Tolkien did what he wanted to do brilliantly, and the debt he and other fantasy authors owe Tolkien.
On the other hand, Martin has also talked about the ways he writes differently from Tolkien, and the questions he likes to ask about the story presented...

Artificial intelligence mashups of Lord of the Rings, Pixar and Wes Anderson are amusing novelties, but how long before the robots are generating whole screenplays – and can we be sure they’re not already?
When the robots finally conquer Earth, it seems one of the first things they will be coming for is your slightly scratched boxset of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. And why not? Who wouldn’t want to see Frodo and his gang reimagined by AI “film-makers” in the style of Wes Anderson or Pixar?
Well, as it turns out, most of us, even if the animated versions of our favourite hobbit adventurers are pretty cute. Over on Instagram, you can now find the “cast” of Pixar’s take on Lord of the Rings, thanks to an AI named Midjourney. I do wonder if a few Disney Animation stills were fed into the machine by mistake,...

More and more screen adaptations of the works of Jrr Tolkien are in development these days. In addition to Amazon’s The Rings of Power, a prequel series set during the Second Age of Tolkien’s Middle-earth, Warner Bros. Discovery announced in February that new films are also in development. The first will be an animated movie called The War of the Rohirrim, set 183 years before The Lord of the Rings and telling the story of a legendary king of Rohan called Helm Hammerhand, owner of the great horn at Helm’s Deep, which was named after him. We can only speculate on what else Wbd might have planned — the love story of Aragorn and Arwen, told in the Appendices to The Lord of the Rings, is surely ripe for a film adaptation and would probably be our first choice.

How do you follow up the most quintessential epic in all of fantasy? That's the multimillion dollar question that the new "The Lord of the Rings" movies under Warner Bros. Discover and Embracer Group now have to figure out, but they're far from the first to seek a magical solution to this riddle in the dark. Ever since director Peter Jackson's definitive trilogy proved that audiences would respond to an adaptation of some of the densest and nerd-friendly material in fiction writing, it's always been a matter of time before someone else came along and figured out a way to squeeze some more juice out of this cash cow.
Clearly, creative approaches to this conundrum widely differ. Upon acquiring the television rights to Tolkien's writings, Prime Video moved forward by looking to the past -- the very distant past, in fact, setting their prequel story thousands of years before...

Making an interconnected shared universe of spinoff movies from Lord of the Rings is a terrible idea. Barely 10 years after Disney supersized Star Wars—unleashing the current glut of movies and shows so generally mediocre that even Liam Neeson, star of The Phantom Menace, seems wizened when he notes Disney has “taken away the mystery and the magic of the series”—it seems another beloved fantasy trilogy from decades ago is about to get oversaturated by a studio determined to capitalize on every last ounce of popular IP from when you were young.
Warner Bros. Discovery is now actively developing spinoff movies from Peter Jackson’s beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy that concluded nearly 20 years ago.
This attempt to mine the franchise’s nostalgic appeal has already begun thanks to Amazon’s divisive The Rings of Power television series. However, that show is based merely on some of Tolkien...

Rivendell is one of the most beautiful places in all of Middle-earth, and Lego will be bringing the Elven sanctuary to life with their largest Lord of the Rings set. Based on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings franchise, the Lego set boasts a whopping 6, 167 pieces, which places it among the top ten biggest sets Lego has ever produced. Check out a handful of photos below!
“The building set is decorated with foliage that creates the feeling of being deep inside the Rivendell forest and includes magical details including an elven forge, Elrond’s cluttered study, the Shards of Narsil, plus paintings and statues from the history of Middle-earth,” reads the official description. “It also comes with 15 minifigures to bring favorite scenes to life. The minifigures have detachable legs, so you can seat them around the table to recreate the iconic Council of Elrond scene.”

Brace yourselves, Middle-earth hive: Lego has just unveiled one set to rule them all. After years of not doing much with the Lord Of The Rings license, 2023 is seeing a fresh deluge of building-brick sets based on Peter Jackson_ – to life.
The (potentially) bad news is, it costs over £400. The good news is, if you have that kind of money to spend on a giant toy set, it comes with over 6000 bricks, 15 minifigures, and all kinds of incredible details from one of the trilogy’s most spellbinding settings. In the set, you can build Elrond’s council, Frodo’s bedroom (should you also want to recreate the slow-mo Hobbit reunion from the end of Return Of The King), the elven tower, and the lush leafy exteriors of the elvish stronghold. It is a pretty astonishing construction, and by far the biggest Lego take on Lotr yet.

Although epic stories like J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings are often associated almost exclusively with the realm of nerdy men, female fantasy fans have long embraced and loved his work. His likable, unabashedly good heroes, his overt rejection of toxic masculinity, and his embrace of universal themes like love, sacrifice, and hope as the greatest powers of every age, are all things that speak to very different ideas of strength and leadership than many sprawling fantasy tales of its ilk. Plus, there’s no overt sexual menace and even the most seemingly badass warriors are allowed to be emotionally vulnerable with one another. What’s not to love?
Unfortunately, female fans have also had to train themselves to overlook the glaring flaw at the center of Tolkien’s work, and almost all the adaptations that have come from it: How few women are present. And while Prime...

When The Two Towers was released in December 2002, it was fairly common knowledge among J.R.R. Tolkien fans that screenwriters Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens had initially planned on putting the character of Arwen at the Battle of Helm’s Deep. It would’ve been a major change to the books. And more than just consider the concept, Jackson even filmed scenes with actor Liv Tyler there in complete armored regalia. And even now, several eagle-eyed YouTubers have spotted moments in the final cuts of the film where Tyler can just about be seen on screen from a distance.
However, the filmmakers changed their minds, and Arwen was removed from the sequence while action scenes were reshot. In fact, Arwen’s entire character arc in the film was altered, a decision that was greeted very positively by a large number...

In recent weeks Amazon has released a flurry of casting news for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two. We have names of 15 actors who will join the Middle Earth cast: Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, Nicholas Woodeson, Sam Hazeldine, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch. But details about their roles are scarce.
The only specific character information that accompanied the casting updates was the shocking news that Hazeldine (“Peaky Blinders”) will be taking over the role of orc-daddy Adar from Joseph Mawle. With showrunner Patrick McKay previously teasing elder elf (and ring bearer) Cirdan the Shipwright arriving next season, that still leaves 13 new roles shrouded in mystery.

Spoilers for episode 6 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
Love comes to Middle-earth! In episode 6 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," all that tension between Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) has finally resulted in a smooch. That's pretty chaste as today's TV series go, but the glances and stares between these two have practically melted the screen. This series is full of longing and stares that seem to mean much more than words. Let's examine Bronwyn and Arondir, and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and, well, a couple of people.
High fantasy -- the subgenre that is epic in its scope, often set in another world, and often filled with elves and other such creatures -- can often eschew the sexual side of things. Not always, as anyone who has read Sarah J. Maas novels can tell you, but often. Instead of jumping into bed,...

Darkness is everywhere, even within our heroes. War has devastating effects, no matter how righteous the cause. And victory always comes at a cost, especially when the threat seems vanquished. Every major character in the latest episode of "The Rings of Power" learns these lessons the hard way, though none more so than the last. The shocking ending to episode 6 snatches defeat from the jaws of victory for our good guys, dealing a major blow to what seemed like a resounding triumph and overturning the very ground beneath our feet.

This Lord of the Rings article contains spoilers for The Rings of Power.
Five episodes in, we finally have a pretty solid idea of where most of The Rings of Power‘s plotlines are going. Galadriel, Halbrand, and the people of Numenor are sailing to Middle-earth to stop the rise of Sauron in the Southlands. Meanwhile, Arondir and Bronwyn will need to find a way to defend the watchtower of Ostirith from Adar’s impending Orc attack.
Evil stirs beyond the world of man, too. The Harfoots continue their migration through Middle-earth, the Stranger in tow. Is he good or evil? The jury’s still out on whether he’ll ultimately turn out to be Gandalf, Saruman, or Sauron himself, but Nori and her people will undoubtedly find out in the coming weeks, especially now that the menacing Dweller — who we’re pretty sure is Sauron — has learned of the Stranger’s existence.

Four episodes in, it’s clear The Rings of Power is playing many of the same notes that Peter Jackson did back in the early 2000s. Like in the award-winning film trilogy, Sauron is the main villain, a forbidden romance between a human and an elf is the central love story, an heir to the throne of man in Middle-earth is running from his destiny, and Gandalf (we assume) is hanging out with Hobbits. Mind you, some of this repetition is just the way J.R.R. Tolkien‘s legendarium works, like the way Aragorn and Arwen‘s story and a similar tale from the First Age mirror each other in the books. But that certain beats on the show feel instantly recognizable to nostalgic movie fans is likely no accident, either. And as the show progresses, the Second...

Warning: slight spoilers follow for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
If there's one thing that connects all the disparate fandoms — at least, the small and annoyingly vocal branches of each of them — it's passionate disdain for any complicated female character. Strategic, overwhelming backlash has become par for the course in science fiction and fantasy, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the girlies have always gotten the brunt of it. More than enough internet ink has been spilled about this topic, especially with the recent (but long overdue) pivot to more inclusive storytelling. Amazon series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has been a major godsend on the fantasy front, with no shortage of complex women to love. Front and center, though, is Morfydd Clark's dauntless Galadriel.
As most likely know already, Clark is delivering a very different take on the...

Episode 4 of The Rings of Power featured numerous references to Elrond and Galadriel’s fathers, but with most of their activities having happened in the First Age, which the series isn’t allowed to adapt, the explanations around them were a bit vague. So who exactly were they, and how are Elrond and Galadriel likely to feel about them by the time of the series?
Elrond does give Durin a basic outline of his father’s story in their conversation in “The Great Wave.” He says that his father “single-handedly sailed to Valinor and convinced the Valar to join the war and vanquish Morgoth.” As a result, “the Valar lifted him beyond the bounds of this world to forever carry the evening star across the sky.”
The Valar are the Powers of Arda; essentially, they are gods,...

When it comes to the most entertaining Easter eggs and tidbits sprinkled throughout "The Lord of the Rings," there are a handful of time-honored traditions that fans have passed down and made sure to turn into endearing memes. Did you know that Viggo Mortensen broke his toe after kicking a helmet? How about the fact that Sir Christopher Lee was the only cast member to actually know J.R.R. Tolkien? Oh, and then there are all the various cameos by director Peter Jackson throughout the trilogy.
But even the most knowledgeable viewers may have missed a specific fun fact that has linked every single live-action Tolkien adaptation together. Of all the talent that have participated in various Middle-earth stories over the last two decades, only a sole individual has left their fingerprints on each and every one on-camera. No, it's not mo-cap actor extraordinaire Andy Serkis or even director Peter Jackson,...

The soundtrack for Amazon Prime’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is out now, and the titles of the tracks are a pretty interesting collection that might offer us a few hints about what we’ll see in season 1 of what Amazon hope will be a several-season series.
The score itself is really rather lovely and sits very nicely alongside Howard Shore’s scores for the six Peter Jackson movies set in Middle-earth. Bear McCreary, the composer for Outlander, is a great choice for this job. His Outlander score incorporates Scottish and Celtic folk music beautifully into a fantasy drama score, as you might expect for a series about an 18th century Highland community. This makes him a perfect match for The Rings of Power, as Howard Shore was heavily inspired by Celtic music in his work on the films. Shore has written the main theme for the new series,...

The "Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy gave us many things. It gave us proof that you could make a high-fantasy movie that felt grounded, epic, and universal without being very corny. It gave us an unadaptable book adaptation that paved the way for other shows and movies like "Game of Thrones," "Dune," and "The Sandman." It also gave us incredible sets and designs that set a standard for how fantasy would look on a grand scale.
And it also gave us one of the best broships in modern cinema history in Legolas and Gimli. Alone, they already are two of the coolest characters in the trilogy. Together, their banter, knack for competition, and camaraderie makes for a legendary friendship that shows people of vastly different backgrounds. And yet, while the films spent a not insignificant amount of time in the company of elves, dwarves got kind of neglected outside of Gimli.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is an ambitious undertaking for Prime Video, but the series is already off to a good start. A blend of old and new ideas, "The Rings of Power" forges its own path to Middle-earth by introducing a set of original (and quintessential) protagonists in the large-scale, overarching narrative. This strategy includes the involvement of several distinct storylines, one of which features a romance between the Silvan Elf Arondir (Ismael Crus Córdova) and a very familiar-looking human, Bronwyn.
The concept of an elf-human relationship is nothing new to "The Lord of the Rings", but the Prime Video series looks to tackle it from the jump. And in doing so, the show cast an actress that is more than prepared to carry the torch of that dynamic. No stranger to television, Nazanin Boniadi portrays the human character Bronwyn in "The Rings of Power.

One does not simply walk into Prime Video’s new Lord of the Rings adaptation – not without a little refresher course, at least.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to debut on the streaming service in September, and is widely reported to be the most expensive TV series ever made.
You can read The Independent’s review here.
Rings of Power is set during the Second Age, many centuries before the events of Jrr Tolkien’s main Lord of the Rings story, which was adapted into an Oscar-winning film trilogy by Peter Jackson in the early 2000s.
The series introduces a whole host of new characters into the mix, as well as a few familiar ones, such as Elrond (played in the series by Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark).

Before Karl Urban was in "The Boys," he played characters who love swords and shields as much as Billy Butcher loves killing supes. There's his role as Skurge in "Thor: Ragnarok" and as Éomer in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, as well as the box-office dud "Pathfinder" or any of his various appearances in the Riddick films as Vaako. The reason for Urban's casting in this niche probably has something to do with the two television series that make up a large part of his early career: "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess."
Although Urban first appeared in "Hercules" as Cupid in the season 3 episode "The Green Eyed Monster," he's better known for the recurring character Julius Caesar in the spin-off "Xena". The actor also played two other guest roles in "Xena": the father-drugging psychopath Mael and the nomadic human Kor.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was an incredibly successful movie in its time. It was the only film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy to win win eleven Oscars, including Best Director and Best Picture, and it set all sorts of box office records while out-performing the two previous entries, which is a rare feat. Grossing 1.1 billion total, it’s generally recognized as one of the most successful and popular genre movies of all time. Nevertheless, there is one thing it is absolutely notorious for among fans and casual moviegoers alike: It has too many endings.
Or does it?
It’s true that the movie takes some time to wrap up the story after the climactic showdown at Mount Doom and at the Black Gate (with nearly everyone else). But we’d argue that as the culmination of more than nine hours of story-telling,...

With Amazon’s The Rings of Power series coming out very soon, there’s been a lot of talk about how faithful – or otherwise – the series is to Tolkien’s lore. But what exactly does it mean to be faithful to a book? We all know that no TV or film adaptation can simply take a book and put it on screen. For one thing, everyone imagines something slightly different, and for another, what works in a novel does not necessarily work on screen.
For every BBC 1995 Pride and Prejudice, which as close as any adaptation to taking the words of the book and filming them, there’s a Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which ends up feeling slow and awkwardly paced by sticking doggedly to the source material. Even Pride and Prejudice...

It’s increasingly rare to be surprised by a new movie’s existence entirely, particularly when it’s connected to an established IP. Studios inundate audiences with advertising in an effort to remain at the forefront of their minds while fervent fans dig up every crumb of information from the second a project is announced, leaving precious little to the imagination by the time a film hits the screen.
Blair Witch‘s covert reveal, The Cloverfield Paradox‘s unannounced release, and Split‘s connection to Unbreakable are recent examples that, regardless of the reception to the films themselves, generated buzz thanks to the element of surprise. Five years ago, writer-director Adam Green pulled off a similar achievement with Victor Crowley, the fourth installment in his Hatchet franchise.

It’s safe to say that online fan reactions to The Rings of Power, Amazon’s upcoming prequel series to The Lord of the Rings, have been mixed. While some are excited to see more of Tolkien’s world brought to life, other fans are less enthusiastic about the changes to Tolkien’s stories and the amount of original material that’s been written to expand Tolkien’s brief notes about Middle-earth’s Second Age.
After a couple of teaser trailers, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s first full trailer (see below) dropped today and it shows that this prequel series has the potential to be an awesome addition to what we might call the Tolkien Cinematic Universe. Here are just some of the reasons the new trailer has us excited.

“The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy became one of the most popular movie trilogies ever and one with the most accolades. All the world knows the story of this epic drama from Middle-earth. The trilogy won a staggering seventeen Oscars and had thirteen other nominations. Now, an Amazon Prime Video series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s work is coming out on a huge budget, so we wonder, can “Lotr: The Rings Of Power” succeed like the trilogy?
It’s doubtful that “Lotr: The Rings of Power” will have similar success as the trilogy. The cast members are not as well-known, and the characters are different, so nostalgic fans might miss the old crew. Still, it has a colossal budget and great source material, so it might surprise us all.
