There are two sides to every story, but nothing is ever really black and white, good versus evil, or even Jedi versus Empire.
Disney+ animated series “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire,” the follow-up to 2022’s “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi,” centers on the rise of the Galactic Empire. The six-episode show follows two warriors on divergent paths, set during different eras: After losing everything, young Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) navigates the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance, per the official synopsis, while former Jedi Barriss Offee (Meredith Salenger) does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies.

Lucasfilm has revealed the first teaser trailer for "Star Wars: Tales of the Empire." Though not exactly a season 2, per se, this serves as a follow-up to 2022's acclaimed "Tales of the Jedi." That show was a series of animated shorts that focused on two interwoven tales of Jedi at crucial times in their development, namely Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku before he fell to the dark side. Similarly, this new series will be focusing on two different figures within the Empire: Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee. Check it out for yourself above.
This trailer offers a lot for hardcore "Star Wars" fans to dig into. We're going to be learning a lot more about Morgan Elsbeth, who fans of "Ahsoka" will be familiar with. We're also going to get more of Grand Admiral Thrawn in his younger years. Meanwhile, "Clone Wars" and prequel fans are going to dive deeper with Barriss Offee,...

“Ahsoka” Season 2 is in development with creator Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm has confirmed.
The news came with the reveal of the new “Star Wars” film “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” directed by Jon Favreau, which was unveiled Tuesday morning.
“‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among those in the works,” the announcement said.
“Ahsoka,” which aired its Season 1 finale on Oct. 3, starred Rosario Dawson as the fan-favorite Jedi, who’s trying to save the galaxy from Grand Admiral Thrawn, a new threat after the fall of the Galactic Empire. He's been helping to shepherd the Star Wars universe on the small screen for years now –– stepping up further following the launch of The Mandalorian, and Dave Filoni is now being recognized for his hard work. The man who began his journey as a mentee of George Lucas, bringing Clone Wars to screens, has been made the Chief Creative officer at Lucasfilm.
“Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm,” Filoni tells Vanity Fair. “In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.”
The new position will see him work more closely with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy and head of development Carrie Beck, overseeing not just the TV galaxy but also the movies. "In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on," Filoni says.

Dave Filoni, who has overseen “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Rebels,” “The Mandalorian,” “Ahsoka” and is the master of all things in a galaxy far, far way, now has a new role as Lucasfilm: chief creative officer. He still holds the title of executive vice president, which he received in 2020.
Filoni announced his chief creative officer title in an interview with Vanity Fair on Tuesday. He was already an executive producer of all live-action “Star Wars” shows on Disney+ and had been tapped to direct a film weaving together all of the TV storylines, but he will now take a more involved role with the future of “Star Wars.”

Dave Filoni, who has been one of the most steady voices in "Star Wars" over the last 20 years, has just been given a much larger role at Lucasfilm. The man behind "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" has been named chief creative officer at Lucasfilm, meaning he will have a larger hand in guiding the future of the franchise. His role has been gradually increasing during the Disney+ era but now, Filoni will be working more closely with the top brass at Disney to steer the ship.
The news was revealed in a new piece by Vanity Fair, which details Filoni's journey, particularly centered around this year's live-action series "Ahsoka." Filoni has been working on the franchise for 20 years dating back to his days developing "The Clone Wars" with George Lucas. He has since been a major part of "Star Wars" over the last decade and change following Disney's...

Dave Filoni is expanding his footprint in a galaxy far, far away. The longtime Star Wars force has been named chief creative officer at Lucasfilm.

Filoni will now be involved in the early development on Star Wars projects, working with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and head of development Carrie Beck.
The move comes as Star Wars is at an inflection point. While it has been successful on the small screen, helping power subscriptions on Disney+, it has struggled to get films off the ground. The world of "Star Wars" animation has always been kind of separate from the live-action one; from Genndy Tartakovsky's "Star Wars: Clone Wars" offering a more mythology-focused take on the Jedi, making them demi-gods of Ancient Greek myth rather than monk warriors, to Dave Filoni's work on "The Clone Wars" convincing George Lucas to be hands-on with "Star Wars" animation and (along with "Star Wars Rebels") introducing a lot of lore in the form of fantastical concepts like the Ghosts of Mortis and the mystical World Between Worlds.
But that has changed in recent years, with filmmakers such as Rian Johnson and Jon Favreau referencing or outright bringing animated characters and elements over into their live-action "Star Wars" projects. Indeed, the most important "Star Wars" titles to be at least aware of right now are all animated, in no small part due to the importance of the character...

Disney+’s new lengthy trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka provides our first look at a live-action Thrawn. Lars Mikkelsen provided the character’s voice in the animated Star War Rebels series and reprises his role in the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise.
In an interview with EW, Mikkelsen offered a short description of Thrawn.
“He’s a top strategist,” said Mikkelsen. “He’s always seven paces ahead of anybody else. And ruthless, of course. But only when it’s needed, actually. I think he thrives also with the creativity of the surroundings. I mean, he’s not using people in a bad way. He’s using their creativity to reach his goals.”
Rosario Dawson leads the cast in the titular role. The series also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.

Disney+ has released a new trailer for the upcoming “Star Wars” series, “Ahsoka,” providing fans a look at the series’ villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn.
It was announced in April at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention, that Lars Mikkelsen would be set to reprise his role as the “Star Wars” villain and embody the character in the live-action series. Thrawn was originally created by author Timothy Zahn as part of a series of 1990s Star Wars novels chronicling the events following 1983’s “Return of the Jedi,” and he quickly became a fan-favorite character.
However, after Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, Thrawn’s character was removed from the official “Star Wars” canon. Then in 2016, Dave Filoni revived the character and brought him back into a galaxy far, far away after adding him to the “Star Wars Rebels” animated series. Throughout the show, Mikkelsen voiced the character.

Disney+ hasn't had a great year.
Several shows have been delayed.
The reaction to The Mandalorian and Secret Invasion hasn't been as strong as expected.
Could Star Wars: Ahsoka be the project that moves the needle in the right direction for the streaming service?

The latest trailer for Disney+’s Star Wars series Ahsoka ups the action.
The two-minute clip released Tuesday showcases Rosario Dawson as the titular Jedi while also expanding the focus from an earlier teaser to include both more battle scenes and a longer look at Dawson’s co-stars, who include Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Jedi-turned-mercenary Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, who made her debut in season two of The Mandalorian, states early in the trailer that she’s looking to stop Thrawn from becoming “heir to the Empire.” Winstead’s character convinces Ahsoka to find Sabine and enlist her in the coming fight.

“Star Wars: Ahsoka,” the latest series in Disney+’s ever-expanding “Star Wars” empire, has been given an August 23 release date and a teaser. The TV spot, which is available to watch now, will air on Wednesday during the NBA Finals’ Game 3.
The footage featured in the commercial was first revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April and a trailer that followed. But what’s odd about this TV spot is what it excludes — the teaser that was shown during Celebration also included revelation of Thrawn’s face, which was only shown in-house. Also, the original teaser showed several scenes of the Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll.
Stevenson, who passed in May, had previously spoken to TheWrap about his excitement about joining the project, saying, “you pinch yourself.” Despite the late actor’s enthusiasm for the project, he does not appear in this first TV spot.

The first trailer for the new “Star Wars” series starring Rosario Dawson, “Ahsoka,” was unveiled at Star Wars Celebration in London on Friday, and unlike the footage shown from “The Acolyte” and “Skeleton Crew,” this one’s actually online for all to see.
Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano made her live-action “Star Wars” debut in the second season of “The Mandalorian,” but was originally introduced in the animated “Clone Wars” and “Rebels” series. Wielding double lightsabers, she quickly became a fan favorite. Before joining up with Luke Skywalker and Grogu in “The Mandalorian,” the former Jedi Knight was a protégé of Anakin Skywalker prior to him turning to the Dark Side.

"The Mandalorian" season 3 cameo of a hulking furry Lasat, Garazeb Orellios (voiced again by Steve Blum), excited "Star Wars Rebels" viewers. But the sighting also may have disillusioned fans who are already wary of Star Wars falling deeper into the referential everything-must-be-connected pit — not unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and this connection could have further fractured the identity of "The Mandalorian" show more than it already has. At the same time, it could have given fans more hope to see the "Rebels" cast in the upcoming live-action series "Ahsoka." The power of this cameo is that it can make Star Wars fans (myself included) feel many emotions — even hope and dread in the same space.
It also might have reminded "Rebels" fans that the CGI cartoon didn't do justice to the Garazeb (or Zeb) character. When "Rebels" closed out its final season in 2018, the Lasat probably got the most questionable...

One of Disney+’s biggest hits right out of the gate is the Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. It was the big launch title when the streaming service made its debut back in November of 2019. This March will mark the return of the adventures of Din Djarin, along with his cuddly companion, Grogu. According to Collider, to celebrate the phenomenon of the Lucasfilm series, Disney+ has announced a special linear airing of the first episode of the first season.
The first episode is set to be simulcasted on Friday, February 24, at 8 p.m. Est across ABC, Freeform, and FX. Season three is a hugely anticipated return after the debut of the spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett, and the Star Wars extended universe shows that would also dawn the library of the streaming service, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor.

The trailer for the third season of Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian drew a record 83.5 million views in its first 24 hours after premiering Jan. 16 during the NFL wild card playoff game.
That’s easily the top showing for a Star Wars Disney+ series, according to Disney. The trailer debuted online after it appeared on the TV broadcast. Previously, a trailer for Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi attracted roughly 58 million views.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian launched on Disney+ in November 2019 and quickly became the streamer’s flagship series (“Baby Yoda,” aka Grogu, in particular became an overnight cultural icon). Season two followed in late 2020. The series has spawned multiple spinoffs, including 2022’s The Book of Boba Fett, and the upcoming Rosario Dawson-led series, Ahsoka.
According to the logline for season three, “The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
