Credit where it's due, Twilight's Child, unlike V.C. Andrews' Heaven Saga or The Landry Series, actually did things like remember to bring up those long abandoned siblings and pull on dangling strings that would typically leave us hanging.

Another juicy V.C. Andrews adaptation is coming to Lifetime. A four-part miniseries based on the Cutler series of novels premieres this July, with Stargirl’s Brec Bassinger in the title role.

The first episode in the miniseries introduced Dawn Longchamp, who has grown up in humble but loving circumstances. Her hardworking family includes her devoted father Ormand, as well as her older brother Jimmy. But Dawn’s world is rocked to the core when she discovers the people who raised her are not her real parents.
Once the truth comes out, everything Dawn knows and loves is ripped away from her. She’s forced to adjust to life with the Cutlers, a strange new family whose dark and twisted secrets change the course of her life forever.

Hot on the heels of their Flowers in the Attic: The Origin limited series, Lifetime’s dipping back into the V.C. Andrew well for a movie event based on the bestselling Dawn Cutler series. Stargirl‘s Brec Bassinger is confirmed to star as Dawn and Emmy Award winner Donna Mills (General Hospital) has signed on to star as Lillian Cutler.
The cast also includes Joey McIntyre (New Kids on the Block) as Michael Sutton, Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) as Ormand Longchamp, Khobe Clarke (Yellowjackets) as Jimmy Longchamp, and Fran Drescher (Indebted) as Agnes Morris.

Exclusive: Lifetime has begun production on four new movies based on V.C. Andrews’ Casteel Family book series, all for premiere on the cable network this year. They are among 75 films planned on the network for 2019 as part of an ambitious slate.
Last summer, under new A+E Networks CEO Paul Buccieri, Lifetime made a change in its programming strategy, putting emphasis back on original movies and using them as backdoor pilots over traditional series development.
