His sterling performances in Vikram Vedha, Karuppan, Super Deluxe, Ka Pe Ranasingham, Seethakathi and Master have earned him the title of the invisible actor. Humble and down-to-earth, Vijay Sethupathi speaks to Subhash K Jha of his yearnings as an actor . You are making a transition from the south to Hindi cinema. Why do you see the need to do so when you have such a sturdy market in the south? I have done nothing! I never planned anything. Not my life, neither my career as an actor. Netflix has opted not to renew freshman Ya supernatural drama series Chambers, starring Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn, which hailed from Stephen Gaghan and Super Deluxe..
“Chambers will not return for a second season,” the streaming network said in a statement. “We’re grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing this story to us and to her fellow executive producers Alfonso Gomez Rejon, Steve Gaghan from Super Emotional, Winnie Kemp and Wolfgang Hammer from Super Deluxe, and Jennifer Yale. We’re also thankful to the tireless crew, and to our incredible cast, especially Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and talented newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose.”

KollywoodIt was earlier announced that the film would be a romantic flick. Tnm StaffTwitterThe teaser of Vijay Sethupathi-Trisha Krishnan starrer 96, directed by cinematographer-turned-director C Prem Kumar was released on Thursday. Interestingly, the teaser has no dialogues in it. There’s only instrumental music followed by vocals towards the end. The teaser begins with Vijay Sethupathi wandering around with a Dslr, swinging from a tree and clicking pictures in the rain. Another interesting aspect is that Trisha is seen wearing the same outfit throughout the teaser. Vijay Sethupathi, however, is seen in different looks. Trisha looks gorgeous and doesn't seem to have aged at all from her first film! Notably, the names of both actors appear together in the trailer, unlike the usual pattern when the male star's name appears before that of the female lead. It was earlier announced that the film would be a romantic flick. The first look poster was released to coincide with Valentine's Day last year. Vijay Sethupathi and C Prem Kumar have previously worked together in Naduvula Konjam Pakatha Kaanom. Last seen in Malayalam film Hey Jude, Trisha has Mohini, Garjanai, Sadhuranga Vettai 2 and 1818 slated for release. Vijay Sethupathi too has multiple releases including Junga, Seethakathi, Chekka Chivandha Vaanam and Super Deluxe. It was earlier revealed that the film’s title signifies the year 1996. Also, the film will feature Vijay Sethupathi in three different ages of his life - 16, 36 and 96. Vijay already played a 50-plus character in his first production Orange Mittai. In Soodhu Kavvum, too, he played a character quite older than his real self. In a recent media interaction, Vijay opened up about the project and heaped praises on his co-star. According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Vijay said: “Trisha is punctual in coming to the shooting locale every day and is so focused. She gives her best in understanding the needs of the character. She is extremely devoted to the profession.” The film’s music is by Govind Vasantha of 100 days of Love fame. Mahendiran Jeyaraju and N Shanmuga Sundaram have done the film's cinematography while R Govindaraj has edited it. Produced by Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises, the film’s release date is yet to be announced. Watch:...

Known for their bizarre political satire that always keeps the internet guessing, Super Deluxe is backing Vicente Fox’s bid for president of the United States. The former Mexican president previously poked fun at Donald Trump with this video explaining why Mexico would never pay for his “stupid fucken wall,” and he has returned with a message sure to strike fear in Trump’s cold heart. Fox is announcing his official candidacy for president, and unveiled a shiny new campaign website.
His platform? Anyone would be better at the job than Trump, so it might as well be him. “Donald, you suck so much at this job,” says Fox in a painstakingly measured baritone. “If they ever do a Mount Rushmore for shitty presidents, it will just be your bloated, orange head four times.”

Brandon Rogers is ready to give viewers another look at a demented kids show. Rogers, a YouTube star whose HotBananaStud channel has more than three million subscribers, is ready to unleash the second season of Magic Funhouse, which will premiere on the Fullscreen streaming service on August 24.
Magic Funhouse stars Rogers -- who also serves as the show's director and writer -- as Arlo, the over-the-top host of a public access children's TV program. Arlo's loud, colorful outfits match his language, and the activities he engages in on the set of his show are often criminal. Nonetheless, he's back for more, as a preview clip posted to the Fullscreen YouTube channel lets us know:

In a trend that has the Internet scratching its head and crying from laughter, the words of Gop leaders like Donald Trump and “Infowars” host, Alex Jones, are being turned into hipster anthems. On Friday, the Los Angeles-based entertainment company, Super Deluxe, posted a video to its YouTube and Facebook accounts with the caption, “This is what Alex Jones’ rants would sound like as a Bon Iver song.” (Bon Iver is an American indie-folk band known for ballads like “Skinny Love” and “Holocene.”) A male singer — identified by Super Deluxe as Nick Lutsko — ironically croons the spitfire rants of Alex Jones.

A perfectly innocent and heart-warming cartoon on the internet triggered me today. It depicted a young girl reminiscing about playing video games with her older brother, and how they eventually got their old gaming systems out of storage to play again. By the time I'd swiped through all the panels, my phone screen had become blurry with my tears.

Digital producers cheered last year when the Television Academy expanded its short-form programming categories. But then they saw the nominees and winners.
Most of last year’s short form contenders didn’t come from digital-first producers or platforms, but came from traditional networks and talent. Adult Swim’s “Childrens Hospital” led all nominees, followed by the History channel’s “The Crossroads of History” and AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462.”
“Childrens Hospital” ultimately won the Outstanding Series category, which included just one independent contender: “Her Story,” about two transgender women living in Los Angeles. Besides “Crossroads of History” and “Flight 462,” the two other nominees were behind-the-scenes looks at popular TV shows: “Hack into Broad City” and “UnREAL The Auditions.”
In the short form nonfiction or reality series, another marketing series won, FX’s “Inside Look: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”

For those feeling conflicted by both mourning the loss of “Bored to Death” while tiring of neurotic male protagonists, your dream series has arrived. The amateur Brooklyn detective comedy gets a radical spin in “Bkpi,” a delightfully wacky new short form series from writer/director Hye Yun Park. The series, which is produced by Super Deluxe, is in the middle of a triple-header festival run, playing La Film Festival, Outfest, and Frameline all in the span of a few weeks.

The series stars Park, Dina Shihabi (“Madam Secretary”), and Celine Justice as three badass, working-class women of color who start a private investigation firm to solve minor crimes affecting their Brooklyn neighborhood. But this isn’t some tired parody of hipster Brooklyn filled with beards and skinny jeans; the world of “Bkpi” looks much more like the actual Brooklyn than anything you’ll see on television currently.
“I could not bare to watch another white-washed portrayal of Brooklyn where wealthy millennial hipsters hash out their lives, while working class people witnessing the gentrification of the borough are sidelined to store keepers with funny accents,” said Park. “I wanted to shatter that misrepresentation and have 3 strong, independent women of color stomp around Brooklyn, giving no fucks and claiming their powers.”
Mission accomplished. The experience of watching “Bkpi” is akin to that of watching “Wonder Woman,” albeit on a much smaller scale. It is utterly thrilling to see a group of strong women kicking ass and getting shit done, all while cracking jokes and taking care of their neighbors and each other. Park is an energetic and charismatic ringleader, rocking a shaved head and cracking dirty jokes. It’s refreshing, but also a bit disorienting (in a good way) to realize just how rare images like this are.

Park is no stranger to the short form series, having produced two seasons of the wryly self-mocking “Hey Yun,” a play on her name. She also had a viral hit with “First Kiss NYC,” where she invited total strangers to kiss on camera. The sweetly mesmerizing short reveals so much about human vulnerability, and the imaginary barriers we put between ourselves and others. It clearly struck a chord: It’s been viewed nearly 8 million times on YouTube and was picked up by Jill Soloway’s Wifey TV.
The cast and crew of “Bkpi” were 95% women, many of whom were queer and trans women of color. “It was the first time I experienced a synergy from having the humans behind the camera reflect the humans on camera,” said Park.

Donald Trump is a poet, and we didn’t know it. As of today, the Potus can add “lyricist” to his resume thanks to his love of Twitter. The entertainment company Super Deluxe masterfully strung together a series of President Trump’s most memorable thoughts that he reduced to 140 characters… and then they set them to music. The result: a two-minute, 41-second anxiety-filled song. It starts with an into, setting up the song’s mood — that of a man who was sworn in as president, but “the victory hasn’t stopped him from whining on Twitter about the public’s response to the election.

As our Sundance Film Festival coverage from this year winds down (see our completewrap-up), we’d be remiss not to give some credit to one of our favorite shorts from the festival, as well as the opportunity to dive into the history of the program in Park City by watching 120 shorts from years past.
One highlight in the shorts program at Sundance this year played in front of the feature Deidra & Laney Rob a Train: Deer Squad, from Kelvin Pena, Super Deluxe, and directed by Pipus Larsen, Kenneth Gug, and Scott J. Ross of Public Cinema Club. The short offers a weird, wonderful, and specific kind of storytelling. Pena, a teen living in rural Pennsylvania, befriends a crew of deer that frequent his backyard. A 90’s comedy classic meets the remake of a 70’s sci-fi cult hit in Funny Or Die’s latest exclusive, “City Slickers in Westworld.” In a premise so brilliant it’s a wonder no one thought of it earlier, Billy Crystal and Daniel Stern reprise their “City Slickers” roles to appear as hosts in “Westworld,” HBO’s hit sci-fi thriller series.
Directed by Ron Underwood, 1991’s “City Slickers” is a Western comedy about Mitch Robbins and Phil Berquist, two New York City yuppies who head out West to herd cattle. The movie was a major box-office success, and even earned Jack Palance an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1992.

“Divergent” star Shailene Woodley is comfortable in fictional dystopian societies, not so much with the potential collapse of American democracy as we know it. In a new video released by Funny or Die, Woodley joins other A-listers who share her concerns about the “alternative constitution” that seems to have found its way into Donald Trump’s tiny hands. And Susan Sarandon, Constance Wu, Amber Heard, and Lizzy Caplan and many more are there to back her up.

2016 was no fun. Famous people died, extremist movements consumed the globe, and we lost Harambe. As these horrible 12 months come to an end, some YouTube content creators have taken a moment to give the previous year the send-off it deserves. Here are seven videos that are helping us say "good riddance" to 2016.
7. 2016, in 5 minutes by Vox
For those of you who slept under a rock this year, we should probably start with a video that recaps all the ways in which the previous year went wrong. Vox's 2016 recap isn't perfect (it's very U.S.-centric, for starters), but it's a well-made look back at the events that have grabbed headlines since January.

Of the seismic cultural shifts that occurred in 2016, Hollywood finally embracing web series may be a tiny victory. But try telling that to the creators (a more succinct term for the writer-director-producer-actors thriving in the medium) who have turned their scrappy little web series into big-budget television deals.
Like Issa Rae, creator of the long-running YouTube series “Awkward Black Girl,” who just received a Golden Globe nomination for her new HBO show, “Insecure,” a vibrant comedy that puts black women front and center.
Or Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld, the married co-creators who successfully adapted their web series, “High Maintenance,” for HBO. The stoner comedy that raised the bar for online storytelling preserved its indie charm; the six episodes of elegantly-woven vignettes held true to the spirit of the first online episodes, as each revealed little surprises in the lives of believable characters.

Media giant Turner and Snapchat parent company Snap, Inc. have forged a new partnership by which Turner will bring additional content to Snapchat's Discover platform. The deal also calls for coverage of Turner’s premium sporting events on Snapchat, and for the two companies to work together to develop original shows.
These originals will come from Turner’s buzzworthy portfolio of series and brands, according to a release, including TBS, Adult Swim, truTV, Great Big Story, and Super Deluxe. And while Turner’s CNN network already operates a channel within Snapchat’s Discover section of premium publisher content, a new Bleacher Report sports channel -- which is already available in international markets -- will launch in the U.S. on Jan. 4. At the same time, Turner said its CNN Discover channel would expand to include more daily content.

Super Deluxe Had The Best Live Streamed Electoral Map Of The Election, Drawing Over 22 Million Views
On Election Night, American on the right side of the aisle responded with celebration; meanwhile, on the left, the mood tended toward despair. In order to echo the sentiment felt by half the country, Turner-owned comedy platform Super Deluxe went live on Facebook with an “election map” that showed the American nation in flames. That gag proved to be an immense success, drawing 22 million views across a four-hour broadcast.
The crackling inferno on Super Deluxe’s feed -- an Election Night Yule Log of sorts -- struck a chord with the anti-Trump crowd. The stream received 1.6 million reactions, including 800,000 likes, and its viewers left more than 160,000 comments. At its peak viewership, more than 69,000 people were simultaneously tuned in, and by its conclusion, 247,000 people had shared it with their Facebook friends.

In the golden age of television, the New York Television Festival is quickly becoming the place to find the next crown jewel. Now in its 12th year, the festival continues to grow each year both in scope and prestige, boasting a record number of submissions, artists, and industry participation.

Since the breakout success of “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp has become one of the most original online filmmakers working today. His latest project, “David,” released this month on Super Deluxe, is a dark comedy about a man who learns he only has five weeks to live.
“David” stars Nathan Fielder (“Nathan For You”) as the title character, and Jenny Slate (“Obvious Child”) as his ex-wife. On the surface, this star power is wasted behind the robotic inflections and blank stares that create the eerie tone in “David,” but creating such an idiosyncratic world is no easy task. It takes precision and clarity of vision to fully realize and sustain a unique aesthetic.

In an interview with Filmmaker Magazine, Dean Fleischer-Camp described the tone of his 2014 web series “Catherine” as “The New Banality.” With “David,” he adds yet another gem to his self-described banal canon.
The five-episode series premiered yesterday on Super Deluxe and stars Nathan Fielder (“Nathan For You”) as David, a recently-fired divorcee, as we learn from an uncannily accurate Tarot reader (Sally Berman). David’s vacantly concerned psychic tells him that he has a “black stone, like a rock, growing every minute” in his chest. If he doesn’t get rid of it, his body will de-compose in five weeks — hence the five episodes.

Since announcing its official launch back in June, Super Deluxe has managed to carve out a space for itself in the crowded world of web comedy by offering a strong slate of original programming. The Turner-owned destination’s latest release is David, a five-episode web series directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp and starring Nathan Fielder.
David tells the story of its titular figure, portrayed by Fielder. In the first episode, a psychic tells him that a black stone is growing in his chest, giving him only a few weeks left to live. The follow four installments give us a glimpse of David’s life, and let’s just say this won’t be the most uplifting web series you watch. The tone of David is as bleak as it gets, but there’s plenty of deadpan comedy to be had, and Nathan For You fans will know that Fielder excels at that sort of humor.

The Youtube channel has found viral fame with its chopped-up videos of the Us Presidential candidates, and is making satire great again in the process
In a Us election cycle of unprecedented absurdity, much of 2016’s best political comedy has simply allowed the candidates to speak for themselves. Satirist Vic Berger regularly takes unedited comments by Donald Trump and amplifies their lunacy with the aid of hyperactive visual editing and the odd airhorn sound effect. Film-maker Mike Diva’s recent viral video Hillary Clinton: Meme Queen satirised the former secretary of state’s desperation to appeal to young voters by having a lookalike instruct them to “Pokémon Go to the polls”. Believe it or not, the line was a direct quote from a recent Clinton stump speech.

Ghosts generally get a bad rap in popular culture. Sure, there are a few nice ones, like Casper, but they’re the exceptions to the rule. Like house guests who have long overstayed their welcome, most ghosts linger in this earthly realm, often hanging around the places where they spent most of their time when they were alive. Maybe they have unfinished business here; maybe they’re just being dicks. Who knows? Either way, they cause a great deal of trouble for the living, as depicted in films ranging from Poltergeist to Ghostbusters.
But it doesn’t have to be that way: Maybe ghosts have something to offer humanity beyond a few cheap scares. Super Deluxe has recently launched a news series of animated shorts called Advice From Ghosts in which the spirits of some notable folks from history come back to this world, not to chase teenagers away from...

Last year, Turner delighted old-school web comedy aficionados when it announced the return of Super Deluxe, a comedy destination that delivered a year of quality programming before being folded into Adult Swim in 2008. Now, the new Super Deluxe has officially launched, according to a press release from Turner.
While the comedy hub's launch is only now being made official, its official YouTube channel is already home to nearly 250 videos, all of which have been uploaded over the past seven months. This library has already scored more than 50 million views, with several videos -- particularly those related to the 2016 election cycle -- rolling up several million hits on their own.
Turner wants to maintain the hot streak Super Deluxe has experience since its rebirth, and it hopes an assortment of sketches, web series, and animations will keep viewer interest high. A sizzle reel posted to the hub's YouTube channel gives visitors an idea of the content to come. If I had to guess, Super Deluxe looks like it will land somewhere between Adult Swim and Above Average.

Straight Outta Compton was one of the best movies about the creation of music I've ever seen, and along with Beasts of No Nation, the film was one of the poster children of the recent #OscarsSoWhite protest. Strong cases could be made that it should have been nominated for Best Picture and at least Best Supporting Actor for Jason Mitchell (Eazy-e), but that didn't happen. So Super Deluxe decided to recut a new trailer for the movie to show what it needed to be like in order for it to be a major Oscar contender (light spoilers and Nsfw language ahead):
Yep, that'd pretty much do it.
