- Dimitris Rontiris was born in 1899 in Piraeus, Greece. He was a director and actor, known for I persiani (1967), Annoula's Dowry (1917) and Electra (1962). He died on December 20, 1981.
- One of the greatest Greek theater teachers and stage directors of the 20th century whose precious legacy also included internationally acclaimed performances of plays of Henrik Ibsen (such as "Hamlet" and "King Lear" with Alexis Minotis and Aimilios Veakis in the title roles respectively) and, in the widest part of his distinguished career, ancient tragedies.
