Another Game of Thrones Prequel Nears With Lead Director Attached - Main Image
After House of the Dragon, another Game of Thrones spinoff is progressing. Owen Harris of Black Mirror fame has been announced as the lead director of the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Some of Harris’s directorial credits include acclaimed episodes of the anthology series Be Right Back, San Junipero, and Striking Vipers. He also helmed the first episode of Jordan Peele’s revival of The Twilight Zone and made his big screen debut in Kill Your Friends (2015) starring Nicholas Hoult.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, about the improbable partnership of Ser Duncan the Tall or Dunk, described as a young, naive, yet courageous knight, and his squire Egg. The story will be set a century before the events of Game of Thrones...

Game of Thrones was a major hit for HBO, regardless of whether you liked the ending or not, and it is still regarded as one of the best series of all time, especially within the fantasy genre. Game of Thrones was a phenomenon back when it first aired. The HBO series, based on George Rr Martin’s novels, would go on to enthrall fans for years, making fans fall in love with Westeros (not with its inhabitants though). It all seemed to be going well, until, well…, Season 8 happened. The fandom, which couldn’t contain its excitement for the culmination of the series, was not to be found after the finale of the show aired. HBO knew they had messed up, and they are now taking steps to set things right, including hiring Black Mirror director, Owen Harris.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms has found one of its directors.
Owen Harris, who has directed episodes of Black Mirror including the San Junipero episode, will helm three of the episodes for the Game of Thrones spinoff.
It comes as HBO revealed that the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight novella will feature six episodes. This is fewer than the first seasons of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Some breaking news from Westeros: The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has added a major talent from Black Mirror to serve as its debut season’s lead director, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Owen Harris has boarded the HBO drama as an executive producer and will also direct the first three episodes, establishing the directorial vision for the series. Harris is best known for helming two of Black Mirror‘s finest episodes — “Be Right Back” and the widely acclaimed “San Junipero.”
In addition, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ episode count has now been revealed: The first season will be six episodes, making for a tighter opener than the 10-episode first seasons of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The run time seems appropriate given Knight is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight rather than one of his 900-page epic novels.

Last year when Betty Gilpin was filming Mrs. Davis, the Peacock dramedy about a nun who vows to destroy a powerful artificial intelligence, people were barely even talking about ChatGPT — it was, as Gilpin described, “niche.” Now, as audiences binge the show, it’s the topic on everyone’s mind. “As a parent in real life, I think a lot about our dependence on the internet, and I do think it’s natural for humans to want a workaround to risk,” she says. “But it’s also tampering with the things that make us human.”
In the series, Gilpin plays Sister Simone, who, while attempting to enact her revenge on the bot known as Mrs. Davis, gets caught up in ancient religious conspiracies (she is, essentially, searching for a riff on the Holy Grail). The actress has thought a lot about the consequences of a more technologically advanced world and...

When “Mrs. Davis” director and executive producer Owen Harris read the pilot script for the Peacock limited series, he had one response. “I sent an email straight back to my agent saying, ‘What the f–k have I just read?’” Harris tells Gold Derby in our Making of “Mrs. Davis” video roundtable exclusive interview. “And then I quickly followed it up with, ‘But I love it. It’s amazing. We have to do this.’ And I think that sort of everyone had a similar reaction.”
Co-created by Damon Lindelof and Tara Hernandez, “Mrs. Davis” is a show that defies easy classification. Broadly, it’s about a nun named Simone (Betty Gilpin) who is tasked by an artificial intelligence program called Mrs. Davis to find and destroy the Holy Grail in exchange for the elimination of Mrs. Davis itself. The very premise of “Mrs. Davis” all but encouraged the Peacock show’s creative team to embrace their pop culture influences. Co-created by Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, “Mrs. Davis” is about the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence algorithm and a nun named Simone (Betty Gilpin), who the computer programs tasks with its destruction by sending her on a quest to find the Holy Grail. “Algorithms love cliches,” Wiley (Jake McDorman), Simone’s ex – who happens to lead a group of male resistance fighters like he’s “Fight Club” figure Tyler Durden – says at one point.

[This story contains major spoilers to the finale of Mrs. Davis.]
Mrs. Davis made a promise from the beginning that Simone, the heroic nun at the center of the genre-jumping story played by Betty Gilpin, would destroy the titular algorithm of the series. And after eight wild episodes, the show delivered on that promise.
The finale of the Peacock series from co-creators Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof is titled “The Final Intercut: So I’m Your Horse,” a name that was given by the algorithm created in the writers room to generate episode titles. (In their own quest to tackle the looming conversation around AI, the writers confronted the technology first-hand by developing their own algorithm, feeding it scripts and outlines, and then asking it to name the eight episodes.) Finale director Owen Harris thinks the title is genius. “It’s disconnection with the story is what that title is about,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It says pretty much everything...

Finale director Owen Harris thinks the title is genius. “It’s disconnection with the story is what that title is about,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It says pretty much everything...

This article contains spoilers for Mrs. Davis episode 8.
It’s perfectly natural for a director to develop a niche. What’s rarer, however, is for a director to develop a niche as specific as Owen Harris has. After getting his start helming episodes of TV shows like Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Misfits, the London-born director entered the dystopian world of Black Mirror to helm three of the often cynical show’s most reasonably cheerful installments.
By the grueling standards of the long-running sci-fi anthology, Harris’s three episodes: “Be Right Back,” “San Junipero,” and “Striking Vipers” are positively saccharine. San Junipero in particular is often fondly remembered as “That one Black Mirror with the happy ending.” Getting to explore the brighter side (or at least less dark side) of technology was no accident for the director invested in human-centric storytelling.

“Mrs. Davis” may be one of the most surprising and unconventional new series of the spring — and now it’s making a surprising and unconventional move in the Emmy race as well. As the Television Academy deadline for category submissions ends today, Peacock has decided to make a last-minute shift and move the series into the limited/anthology series categories.
Betty Gilpin stars in “Mrs. Davis” as Simone, a sometimes nun who takes on her nemesis, the artificial intelligence being known only as “Mrs. Davis,” and strikes a deal with the algorithm — which promises to shut down if Simone finds and destroys the holy grail. This exploration of faith and technology comes from executive producers Tara Hernandez (“The Big Bang Theory”) and Damon Lindelof (“The Leftovers”).

Plot: “Mrs. Davis” is the world’s most powerful Artificial Intelligence. Simone is the nun devoted to destroying Her. Who ya got?
Review: It takes a lot to catch me off guard. I have seen countless movies and television series over the years that have been billed as shocking or revolutionary, game-changing, and even unlike anything that has ever been seen before. Few of these have actually delivered on the hyperbole used to market them, but every now and then, I am truly surprised by the originality that is still possible. Mrs. Davis is one of those series that truly earns the distinction of being unlike anything else ever made. With the distinctive creative talents of Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof behind the scenes, Mrs. Davis echoes the satirical brilliance of Terry Gilliam’s Brazil with a modern technological flair for a hilarious, action-packed story and thought-provoking series about faith,...

Betty Gilpin goes up against Mrs. Davis — the most popular algorithm in the world — in the trailer for her new Peacock series.
In the first official footage of the sci-fi comedy from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, the Glow and The Hunt star makes her introduction as Simone, a nun who is given the lofty task of locating the Holy Grail and ends up taking on the all-powerful artificial intelligence known as “Mrs. Davis,” who put Simone on her lofty quest.
In the trailer (above), a skeptical Simone is told she is the only person on the planet who can fulfill the quest of locating the Holy Grail. Along the way, she decides to take a path of resistance. “Mrs. Davis is all knowing and all powerful. She not only knows you are coming for her, but she wants you to,” Gilpin is warned.

You are not a robot, and a computer is not your boss. “Mrs. Davis” is here to remind you of that. Peacock’s upcoming sci-fi dramedy got an exciting and funny new trailer on Tuesday that will make you want to smash your phone and throw it in a river to free yourself from the tyranny of the algorithm.
“Mrs. Davis” stars Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Sister Simone, a nun whose calling is to fight for humanity against the titular Mrs. Davis, an all-powerful artificial intelligence with nefarious intentions. It’s all too easy for it to get humans to hand over their free will. Mrs. Davis is it, not her; it’s important to avoid anthropomorphizing a computer program, as characters remind each other in the trailer. “Don’t give it a name,” an angry Australian man tells Simone. “No one calls Facebook ‘Doug.’”

Sci-fi writer Damon Lindelof has made quite the name for himself since he's arrived on the scene, tackling incredibly popular material such as the hit show "Lost", Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel "Prometheus," and most recently HBO's brilliant sequel series "Watchmen." Should anyone still be on the fence about Lindelof's talents after some high-profile misses like "Cowboys & Aliens," "Star Trek Into Darkness," and 2015's "Tomorrowland," well, I implore you to check out his work on "The Leftovers," which has earned him the benefit of the doubt for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
The next item on Lindelof's agenda, however, appears both of a piece and miles apart from his previous output. Peacock suddenly seems like the belle of the streaming wars ball, riding high off the success of Rian Johnson's "Poker Face" series. Now, the streaming service is partnering up with Lindelof on its most out-there premise yet.

Prepare to be amazed — but first, prepare to be really, really confused. When it comes to boggling the mind, Emmy-award-winning writer-producer Damon Lindelof is nothing if not consistent. His latest venture might be his weirdest yet: "Mrs. Davis" is a quaint little Peacock series about the epic battle between the world's most powerful Artificial Intelligence and the nun devoted to destroying her.
The series hails from Lindelof and Tara Hernandez ("The Big Bang Theory"). Hernandez showruns the series and co-writes with Lindelof, and the two creators executive produce with directors Owen Harris ("Black Mirror: San Junipero") and Alethea Jones ("Evil"). It's one hell of a creative team, backed by a solid cast: Betty Gilpin (of "Glow" fame) stars as Simone, the nun who will hopefully save the world. Other cast members include Jake McDorman ("Dopesick"), Andy McQueen ("Station Eleven"), Margo Martindale ("Cocaine Bear"), David Arquette ("Scream"), Elizabeth Marvel ("The Dropout"), and more.

Betty Gilpin starred in the thriller The Hunt, which was co-written by Damon Lindelof, and now she and Lindelof have teamed up again for the Peacock streaming service series Mrs. Davis, which is set to make its premiere on April 20th. On the heels of “Poker Face,” Peacock is back with another hotly anticipated, highly promising dramedy that’s something like a high-end version of a broadcast procedural. Spiritually minded sci-fi series “Mrs. Davis” comes to the streaming service on April 20. Peacock released the series’ first teaser trailer on Wednesday.
The teaser features a number of people all over the world handing other people airpods and saying, “She wants to talk to you.” The call is coming at an inconvenient time for some of these people, like a comedian during her set and a bride during her wedding, but everyone is ecstatic to hear from this mysterious lady. At the end of the teaser, the letters “AI” briefly appear on a black title screen, then the rest of the title flashes into focus: “Mrs. Davis.” That’s her. If there’s one thing that Damon Lindelof is known for, it’s making really great shows that can also get really, really weird. And based on the latest teaser released Wednesday, his new Peacock show “Mrs. Davis” looks like it might be the “Leftovers” and “Watchmen” creator’s most oddball project yet.
Co-created by Lindelof and “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” writer Tara Hernandez, “Mrs. Davis” stars “Glow” alum Betty Gilpin not as the title character but as Simone, a nun who is dead set on defeating the title character, who happens to be a powerful Artificial Intelligence program slowly taking over the entire world. Peacock released a teaser trailer for the new Damon Lindelof series “Mrs. Davis,” introducing the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence of the same name.
In the 30-second clip, no footage from the actual series is shown. Instead, various people around the world walk up to another person – in a town square, at a wedding, in the middle of a stand-up comedy show – and say, “She wants to talk to you.”
The “she” in question is Mrs. Davis herself, in the form of an AirPod-like earpiece. After accepting the earpiece, which they always do, the people look thrilled, shocked and/or excited.
The high-concept series from the creator of “Lost,” “The Leftovers” and “Watchmen” stars Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Simone, a nun whose mission is to destroy Mrs. Davis. Jake McDorman (“Dopesick”) and Andy McQueen (“Station Eleven”) co-star in what has been described as a “wildly original and genre-bending journey.

Peacock has announced the release date for Mrs. Davis, the new drama series executive produced by Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof.
The series, which stars Betty Gilpin, will premiere with four episodes on April 20. The remaining four episodes will debut weekly on Thursdays.
Mrs. Davis is described as “an exploration of faith versus technology — an epic battle of biblical and binary proportions.” Gilpin plays Simone, a nun who goes to battle against an all-powerful Artificial Intelligence known as “Mrs. Davis.” She will star alongside Jake McDorman, who plays Gilpin’s rebellious ex, who also has a personal vendetta against the Algorithm.
Peacock also released a first look at the series on Wednesday, showing Gilpin and McDorman presumably throughout their mission to destroy Mrs. Davis. One of the photos can be viewed above, and the rest are below. Additionally, the streamer has shared a message from the AI herself, which you can read below.
