Hunter Schafer learns that not all European getaways are particularly relaxing in the first trailer for horror flick Cuckoo.
Neon releases Tilman Singer’s feature in theaters Aug. 9. Cuckoo stars Schafer as Gretchen, a teen who gets more than she bargained for after accepting a job from Herr König (Dan Stevens) at a resort in the German Alps. Rounding out the cast are Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Greta Fernández and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey.
“How would you like to come work for me at the resort?” Stevens asks in the trailer. Later, Schafer wants to know, “Why did you bring us here?”
Singer (Luz) wrote and directed the movie that premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and also screened at SXSW. Thor Bradwell, Markus Halberschmidt, Ken Kao, Ben Rimmer, Josh Rosenbaum and Maria Tsigka serve as producers.

Hunter Schafer was among one of the standout performers in HBO’s hit series Euphoria. Among other rising actresses like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, she managed to hold her own in her acting debut with her role as Jules Vaughn. The show mirrored her own experiences as a trans woman and fans were impressed with the ease with which she essayed her role.

Another standout from the series was Angus Cloud who sadly passed away last year. Schafer recently reflected on Angus’ contribution to the show and the type of person he was in real life. Schafer had nothing but kind words to say about the late actor who left a special mark on the entire cast of Euphoria.

The first shot after the opening titles of Tilman Singer’s savvily conceived but undercooked Cuckoo is like a reverse angle of the opening shot of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Here, a family drives through beautiful but implicitly foreboding mountainous terrain. And we’re located in the cab of the car with Gretchen (Hunter Schafer), an angsty teen who’s been forced to relocate from her home in the U.S. to a relatively remote corner of the Bavarian Alps.
Steep, imposingly snow-capped, and dotted with romantic castles and high-end ski lodges, the Bavarian Alps are tourist magnets, and justifiably so. But this part of Germany was also a favorite of Hitler’s, and today it’s the heart of traditional conservativism in the country. Like Appalachia in the U.S., it’s a place a horror movie might take us to in search of scary people—except here...

With “Cuckoo,” German director Tilman Singer expands on the scope of his impressive 2018 debut (the demonic-possession-meets-therapeutic-improv exercise “Luz”) while retaining that film’s bird-flipping attitude toward unnecessary niceties like coherent plotting or narrative logic. Singer makes what ought to be his breakthrough with “Cuckoo,” an energetically outlandish fusion of stylish atmospherics, old-school reproductive horror and pro-switchblade advertorial. The profile of this highly enjoyable, unashamedly convoluted creepfest will be further raised by “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer’s terrific Final Girl performance and by Dan Stevens’ hilariously eccentric villain, the second recent showcase for Stevens’ excellent spoken German after Maria Schrader’s “I’m Your Man.” Few are the films and fewer are the actors who can get such sinister mileage out of a character’s insistently Teutonic, semi-sibilant mispronunciation of the name “Gretchen.”

Ornithologists will no doubt roll their eyes and scoff, “Who doesn’t know that?” But it was news to me that cuckoos, aside from inspiring those infernal kitsch clocks you want to smash once an hour, are also what’s known as brood parasites. That means they’re either too busy or too lazy or too evil to raise their own young, so they drop their eggs in the nests of other birds and let them do the parenting instead. Respect. German writer-director Tilman Singer folds that fascinating nugget of bird arcana into a reproductive horror scenario that’s more strange than coherent in his second feature, naturally titled Cuckoo.
There’s more than the seed of an entertainingly trippy freakout here, applying the peculiar breeding habits of the cuckoo to the demented plan of a self-described preservationist, bent on somehow or other building an assembly line of enhanced propagation using young “nestlings.

Kind of feel that Tilman Singer‘s sophomore feature has been dangling like a carrot in front of us since they teased the first film still (back in mid ’22) of fearful Hunter Schafer. The delay on Cuckoo probably has more to do with the fact that is dives into a animated sequences to go along with the 35mm live action it was shot in. Also featuring Jan Bluthardt, Jessica Henwick, Dan Stevens, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey and Marton Csokas, Cuckoo could be featured in Park City and then the Berlinale where Singer’s debut feature Luz (2018) premiered.

Chicago – Have you ever had such a bad case of déjà vu while watching a film that trying to remember where the familiar elements are from turns into a more enjoyable experience than actually seeing the film itself? If you haven’t, your quest for that kind of film is fulfilled by the incredibly forgettable “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.”
Rating: 1.5/5.0
Is it a long lost relation of the “Lord of the Rings” franchise? Yes, but probably a third cousin judging by the familiar, yet inferior approach. Does it cinematically play out like a typical, fantasy-based video game? You could probably give the audience each a video game controller and they would know what to do with it since more than a few of the climactic sequences have the same execution as a boss-level video game battle. Is the movie actually popular “Lord of the Rings”-based video game...

Director Guy Ritchie’s flashy take on the classic Excalibur legend is super-charged, pop Hollywood filmmaking, entertaining enough while it unspools but ultimately empty and somewhat forgettable. King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword traces Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. As a child, Arthur’s father Uther Pendragon (Eric Bana) is murdered, so his uncle Vortigern (Jude Law) seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur grows up the hard way in the back alleys and brothels of the city. As an adult he’s played by Charlie Hunnam, and once he extracts the mythic Excalibur from the stone, he is forced to confront his true legacy…and focus on his revenge against Vortigern.

Ever since Game of Thrones became a huge hit on television, there has periodically been an attempt to replicate that sort of work on the big screen. This week, the latest shot is taken by filmmaker Guy Ritchie with his origin story/potential franchise starter King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. In tackling another blockbuster, Ritchie is firmly entrenching himself in a world far removed from his smaller British gangster tales that gave him his start. Regardless of the quality of the film itself, it’s interesting to see an auteur take a hard right turn like this one in particular has. He’s attempting to replicate what’s working on HBO here with this origin story, which is easier said than done. The movie is a look at how the boy king Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) was robbed of his birthright and the lengths he’ll ultimately go to get it back.

Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword brings cockney swagger to British folklore, but in a very “Guy Ritchie” way that doesn’t jive with medieval hooliganism. Despite how those Monty Python boys once jested, Camelot ’tis not a silly place – in fact, it’s dreadfully serious and tonally ajar. Ritchie desperately wants to make a knights-and-mages RocknRolla, but stays too stern despite video-gamer digitization. How can such overwhelming mysticism be so pedestrian and drab? Maybe it’s the two-hour-plus running time? Or maybe the lack of evolved gangster coloring? Either way, “Ritchieisms” feel restricted by tight period bindings. All that, and I don’t see Charlie Hunnam as a fitting muse for Ritchie’s more charismatic tastes. Excalibur and all.

I don't know about you, but I'm pumped up for Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. I think it looks like it's gonna be an incredibly fun flick. I love what I've seen in the trailers and today we have nine clips from the film for you to watch with a total of over 10-minutes of footage. What I like about watching clips for movies is that they give you a great sense of what the movie will be like without all the bells and whistles of a trailer. You'll be watching about 10-minutes of the film total in the clips below.
I've been a fan of Ritchie's film work since Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. It's so cool to see how far he's come since then, and he continues to make great movies that tend to entertain the hell out of me. I love that...

When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But...

As the sun begins to shine outside, many film fans are looking forward to settling down in dark cinemas to enjoy the biggest and loudest films of the summer. In amongst the sequels, comic-books and car chases are a few interesting blockbusters including Guy Ritchie’s latest, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword – and some new character posters have been unveiled in lieu of its release.
Similarly to how the filmmaker re-energised Sherlock Holmes with a kinetic approach with lots of action, the new King Arthur film is Ritchie’s attempt to give new life to the legendary story with magic, mystery, action and huge elephants. Whether it will work in the same way remains to be seen but what’s for certain from the first few trailers is that this is unlike anything else this summer season.

What you need on a Monday morning is a new trailer for King Arthur. We’re serious. There’s nothing quite like a roaring ascension to pull the sword out of the your stone in the early morning. If Guy Ritchie made alarm clocks instead of films it would involve Jude Law turning up at your house to scream through your letterbox. This morning he’d be screaming the words New Trailaaahhhh.
Which is a roundabout way of saying there’s a new look at the latest big screen version of King Arthur. Ritchie’s take on Sherlock Holmes was a fun redressing of the Victorian detective with a playful use of kinetic camerawork, King Arthur looks no different. Looking closer at this trailer there’s all sorts of magic, mystical elements and massive elephants that seem to comprise every third film released in cinemas at the moment.

"I know your story... What kind of man would you have become...?" Warner Bros has revealed one final trailer for Guy Ritchie's new take on King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which opens in theaters in just over a month. Is anyone excited to see this movie? I feel like it's going to be forgotten so quickly. But maybe this footage will change your mind? Or maybe not. Charlie Hunnam stars as the new King Arthur with a cast including Jude Law, Annabelle Wallis, Katie McGrath, Eric Bana, Djimon Hounsou, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Tom Wu, as well as Aidan Gillen. Guy Ritchie's signature style (and action) seems to be the biggest selling point of this, but maybe there's something to the story, too. The elephants revealed in this are pretty crazy, reminds me of Lord of the Rings, which is probably the point. Will you be seeing this? Here's...

Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for Guy Ritchie's upcoming fantasy action film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The new trailer includes some more crazy fun footage from the movie and in the process offers us some more information on the story.
This film is definitely a unique take on the King Arthur legend that includes some fantasy elements and I think it looks awesome! I've always been a fan of Guy Ritchie's directing style and seeing that style being used to bring this story to life is pretty cool.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword looks like it's exploding with energy and judging from the trailers it's gonna be a wild ride!

Warner Bros. has just released a brand new trailer for its upcoming(and oft-delayed) fantasy action/adventure film “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” In Guy Ritchie’s new take on the classic Excalibur tale, Charlie Hunnam plays the leading role of King Arthur. In this new trailer, Arthur is forced to return to fight for what belongs to him, his kingdom, after pulling the sword from the stone — literally.

"Why does the sword reveal itself now?" Warner Bros has unveiled another new trailer for Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the new take on the legendary King Arthur story. As we know from the previous trailer, Ritchie's style stands out in particular, making this look a bit more unique than other versions of this story. Charlie Hunnam stars as the new King Arthur with a cast including Jude Law, Annabelle Wallis, Katie McGrath, Eric Bana, Djimon Hounsou, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Tom Wu, as well as Aidan Gillen. I really, really like this new trailer. The music is perfect, the way it's edited is exciting, I am totally sold. I don't know if it will be good, but this trailer definitely gets me hyped to see this. Despite facing delay-after-delay (a normally telling sign the studio doesn’t quite know what to do with a project), there’s a few factors that still have us anticipating King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Guy Ritchie brings more style than the standard directed-by-committee filmmaking that usually plagued tentpoles. Then there’s Charlie Hunnam, coming off of his most impressive role yet in James Gray’s The Lost of City of Z, as well The Young Pope himself, Jude Law.
Ahead of a release in mid-May, Warner Bros. has now revealed a new official trailer, which uses Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” as a backing track for the action. Ritchie clearly looks like he’s having bombastic fun here, so hopefully the film carries through with that tone. Also starring Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, and Eric Bana, check out the new trailer below.

I'm a big fan of the films Guy Ritchie has made in his career, and his next film, King Arther: Legend of the Sword, looks totally awesome! I know not everyone agrees with me on that, but I've thoroughly enjoyed everything that I've seen from it. Today we've got a new full trailer to share with you that features even more exciting new footage!
I love that the legendary story of King Arthur is being retold in Ritchie's signature wild, fast-paced style. I wasn't sure how exactly that would work when the project was first announced, but now I see Ritchie's vision, and I love it! This latest trailer teases some new footage of Arthur fighting with Excalibur, and it just looks so damn cool!
The movie looks like an absolute blast and it has a fun cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law,...

Guy Ritchie is about to deliver his own take on another English legend. Following his dalliance in Late Victorian London with Sherlock Holmes Ritchie and Co. are taking us back even further with Charlie Hunnam taking on the beard and mantle of King Arthur. Today a new trailer gave us a new look at what we’re to expect when the film is released on the 12th of May.
The song of the titular monarch has been sung often, however you can imagine that the director will bring his own sense of style and kinetic frenzy to proceedings. From what we’ve seen so far it has all this and more, with Hunnam providing a particularly grimy king.
Leaping into the fray with King Hunnam are Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Jude Law, Eric Bana, and Djimon Honsou. Hermione Corfield, recently seen in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, is one...

From nothing comes a king: Warner Bros. has today premiered the fantastical new trailer for King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, Guy Ritchie’s star-studded medieval reboot that repackages Arthur and the Excalibur myth for a modern-day audience.
Thrusting former Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam into the title role, Legend of the Sword has been pitched as the “extreme” version of the famous English yarn, chronicling Arthur’s trajectory from the streets to the throne. If there’s one major hurdle standing in his way, it’s Jude Law’s (The Young Pope) Vortigern, a power-mongering tyrant who not only murdered Arthur’s parents in cold blood, but also stole made off with his crown. What follows is a rip-roaring quest for revenge, as Hunnam’s fearless leader begins to grapple with the spellbinding powers of Excalibur and, ultimately, stage a revolt against Vortigern and everything he represents.

Warner Bros. released a brand new promo spot for Guy Ritchie and Charlie Hunnam's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. With Robin Hood: Origins in the pipeline with Taron Egerton it seems the myths and legends of England’s green and pleasant land are fair game and in fashion once more. Guy Ritchie, having taken Sherlock Holmes to dizzying new levels of pugilism rather than faithful pulchritude, is going back in time again. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is the full title for Ritchie’s take on the legend of Excalibur, and the new TV spot is truly something else.
Placing Charlie Hunnam in the lead role was a fairly astute move. The actor seems perfect for the grimy, full-bearded experience of becoming a king. In this new spot he is given the spotlight and runs with it, once with a neat shoulder-mounted camera. There is a whole host of ridiculous action shots, but we’ve come to expect a certain visual flourish from Ritchie. It seems he won’t disappoint.

It seems that Warner Bros. is beginning to step up their marketing campaign for Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which will deliver a brand new spin on the classic tale. Set to star Charlie Hunnam as the titular hero, it’s been a busy week for the upcoming blockbuster, what with new photos, a striking poster and now, a fresh promo hitting the web. It all paints a very promising picture for one of this summer’s most exciting films, and we’re certainly eager to see more from it.

Warner Bros. has owned Sdcc 2016 with their amazing trailer game! The new trailer for Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword was just one more feather in their cap! Check it out!
Guy Ritchie has taken the mysticism to a whole new level in the trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. It's almost got a Dark Souls feel to it, in a good way. What is interesting is that, it kind of looks like Arthur (Charlie Hunnam), inadvertantly, unlocks a barrage of magical creatures by pulling out Excalibur.
It's definitely a different take on the lore of King Arthur. Let's learn more with the official synopsis!
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city.

Though once set for a release this weekend, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword was delayed to next spring, and now we’re getting our first look at Guy Ritchie‘s action epic. Premiering at Comic-Con and now arriving, we have a first trailer for the film that follows Charlie Hunnam, in the title role, from the streets to a kingdom.
“He’s a little bit rough around the edges, but he’s basically a survivor. He’s a hustler,” Hunnam tells EW about his character. “He’s a street kid. There’s definitely a harder edge to him than people would imagine. It’s sort of classic Guy Ritchie stuff.”
Legend of the Sword also stars Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law, and Eric Bana, and you can see its trailer below:
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

On the eve of tomorrow’s panel presentation, Warner Bros. has lifted the lid on the first poster for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Guy Ritchie’s long-gestating redo of the age-old classic that finds Charlie Hunnam in the title role.
Clutching to the legendary Excalibur sword, it’s understood Hunnam will be part of the ensemble to feature at tomorrow’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, which is expected to occupy Hall H from 11:30am Pt. Bouncing off last week’s coverage coupled with today’s poster reveal, some form of teaser trailer is all but guaranteed, when we expect to lay eyes on an Arthur that is, to put it lightly, a bit rough around the edges.
After all, Ritchie offered a similar treatment to the inimitable Sherlock Holmes some years ago, infusing the actioner with rat-a-tat editing and rousing music. King Arthur represents a different kettle of fish,...
