Tell us how you really feel, Karl. German fashion designer—and more notably, the head designer and creative director for Chanel—Karl Lagerfeld was a guest editor for Metro Paris today, and took it upon himself to give his (very frank) two cents on different topics...like Adele and her figure. Oh, but she wasn't his only target. The 78-year-old's opinion on Adele was brought up when asked about his thoughts on new American singer and songwriter Elizabeth Grant, or better known by her stage name—Lana del Rey. Lana Del Rey pursued a career in music to make more friends. The 25-year-old has admitted that a huge part of the reason she went after fame was so she could find companions in the industry, and hoped that she would gain a bigger support network by targeting those who knew she was talented. "I wanted to be part of a high-class scene of musicians. It was half-inspired because I didn't have many friends, and I was hoping that I would meet people and fall in love and start a community around me, the way they used to do in the '60s. Del.
Rey.
Three little words which, over this past year, have come to gain a gravitas beyond their minute stature. This album – Del Rey’s debut – is then a full stop at the end of a story that the build up, the hype and the controversy have been writing for her. And yet, given the full stop, the story isn’t over yet.
Lana (Elizabeth Grant) came to this release riding inside a snowball that started rolling with the appearance of Video Games online, and its subsequent release. That self-made promo of found footage and recordings, introduced the world to Lana’s mix of classic Hollywood, high-class, glamour and a grittier blue-collar Americana and when it appeared online it quickly caused a storm. Most importantly though, it also introduced her music.
Regardless of everything else that surrounded this snowball, adding to it on its way,...
