Netflix’s list of new releases for June 2024 look suspiciously like last month’s.
That’s because the biggest item on the schedule is Bridgerton season 3 once again. The final four episodes of Bridgerton‘s third season will premiere on June 13. Polin fans everywhere, rejoice! Other TV items of note this month include the third and final season of Sweet Tooth (June 6), Worst Roommate Ever season 2 (June 26), and That ’90s Show Part 2 (June 28).
Bridgerton aside, Netflix’s original movie options this month might be even more impressive than the TV slate. Richard Linklater’s Hitman, which stars Glen Powell as the titular assassin, premieres on June 7. That will be followed by documentary Black Barbie on June 19, the Jessica Alba-starring Trigger Warning on June 21, and romcom A Family Affair on June 28
Here’s everything else coming to Netflix this month. Note that Netflix marks its international offerings with that respective country’s two-letter country code.

Over the past decade, Black Mirror has revolutionized science fiction on the big and small screen. Modern sci-fi is down-to-earth and realistic – stories about the future warn the audience that humanity will pay a high price for the immense development of technology.
The best episodes of the series and a dozen of its clones scare us with the introduction of social ratings, strengthening the capabilities of VR, and even raising children in capsules. Science fiction, as it was interpreted by the writers in the mid-twentieth century, has simply disappeared.
The animated film Mars Express, which was shown for the first time in Cannes to great acclaim, is the classic science fiction that is not limited to a fantastic convention, but imagines an entire new and unusual world on the screen.
What is Mars Express About?
In the year 2200, human detective Aline and her robot partner Carlos investigate a series of strange incidents.

Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympian who went to prison for killing his model girlfriend in their residence in 2013, has been relegated to sweeping floors since he was released from prison in January 2023.
In 2012, the 37-year-old athlete achieved national acclaim as the first double amputee to participate in the Olympics, where he earned commendation as a symbol of triumph over adversity. However, within six months, Pistorius’s life took a turn when he shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, multiple times through a bathroom door. He claimed that he had mistakenly perceived her as an intruder during his subsequent 2014 murder trial.
Pistorius’s ammunition was specifically designed to cause as severe harm as possible, as was revealed during the trial, which led him to an initial conviction of culpable homicide and a five-year prison sentence in 2014. After the prosecution appealed, his sentence was extended to 13 years and five months.

Some movies just don't seem to age, and "Blade Runner" is one of them. Aside from the fact that the film is one of the most influential sci-fi flicks in cinema history, thanks to the efforts of director Ridley Scott and his production designer Lawrence G. Paull, the 1982 classic remains one of the most stunningly realized films ever made. The immersive world of Scott's dystopian sci-fi gave the impression, as Christopher Nolan once put it, of a "whole world outside the frame of the scene." That's made even more impressive when you consider the production team had a limited VFX budget and constructed most of the sets and visual effects practically.
In other words, "Blade Runner" doesn't look a tad dated even more than 40 years after its debut. Alas, the same can't be said for the cast. The sad truth is that, despite Joe Russo celebrating the inevitable rise of...

Oscar Pistorius, the former paralympic star from South Africa who was convicted in 2014 for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been granted parole which will start on January 5.
Pistorius, who earned the nickname “Blade Runner” due to his carbon-fiber prosthetic legs, experienced a dramatic downfall from his position as a celebrated paralympic champion to a convicted killer in a highly publicized trial that garnered worldwide attention around a decade ago. Pistorius fatally shot Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
Initially, Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison in 2014 for culpable homicide by the high court. However, in late 2015, South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal upheld an appeal by prosecutors and found him guilty of murder. As a result, Pistorius was sent back to jail for six years in 2016, which was less than half of the 15-year minimum term sought by the prosecutors.

Pistorius was initially convicted of manslaughter for Steenkamp’s death and was released after serving one year of a five-year sentence. That conviction was later overturned by a South African appeals court and he was then convicted of the more serious charge of murder and handed a six-year sentence. In 2013, Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius, 36, killed his girlfriend of four months, Reeva Steenkamp, 29, on Valentine’s Day in their South African home. In 2016, he was jailed for 13 years and five months.
As per South African laws, prisoners are eligible for parole after serving a majority of their sentence, and after ten years behind bars, Pistorius began the process to apply for parole.
According to Steenkamp’s family lawyer, Tania Koen, “I can confirm that parole has been denied, they will reconvene in a year to reconsider him again and we don’t know the reasons yet [for the denial]. I’ve just received a call from the parole board… It is a huge sense of relief for June [Steenkamp].”

When I thought about it, I found other dismaying evidence to back this up.

Amazon has picked up “Pistorius,” a four-part documentary about the South African runner who killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Originally made as a feature-length documentary, Amazon will roll it out exclusively around the world on Prime Video as a series. The project was made by director Vaughan Sivell over three years.
Pistorius shot and killed Steenkamp in her home in Pretoria, South Africa, in the early hours of Valentine’s Day 2013. Sivell secured access to key players in the subsequent trial, which saw Pistorius jailed and prompted controversy and worldwide media attention.
A noted Paralympian, Pistorius became the first amputee to compete at the Olympics. His conviction for killing Steenkamp was amended in 2015, from culpable homicide to murder, and his prison sentence extended after scrutiny by South African lawmakers in the wake of the trial. He is currently in prison.
Sivell’s previous documentary work includes a film about boxer Joe Calzaghe.

This comic-ironic remake of the old TV show never quite thrums into life, and contains a few horribly misjudged moments
Here comes yet another addition to the “ironic film remake of a beloved 70s/80s TV series” genre, which is starting to look as dated as the shows it purports to send up. Updating the cops-on-bikes action drama of the same name, ChiPs stars Michael Peña in the old Erik Estrada role of Ponch, a sex-addicted FBI agent who is tasked with rooting out police corruption by going undercover in the California highway patrol unit. There he’s paired up with idiot-savant rookie Jon Baker (Dax Shepard, also the film’s director), whose guilelessness is counterbalanced by a remarkable gift for riding motorbikes. Soon the pair are on the trail of a dirty cop (Vincent D’Onofrio, entirely wasted in a gruff, underdeveloped role), bickering and blowing stuff up as they go.
