Succession was a big winner at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 7 with the fourth and final season winning Best Television Series – Drama as well as in acting for Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen. On the same evening, series executive producer and director Mark Mylod opened up about Season 4’s biggest episode, “Connor’s Wedding,” during a screening at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City as part of Curator’s Choice 2023. The installment otherwise known as Logan Roy’s (Brian Cox) death episode was screened for attendees first, and then Mylod spoke. (Credit: David M. Russell/HBO) There Was No Blocking When it comes to composing shots as a director, blocking is used to help determine where characters will be as a scene is filmed. Rehearsals help with the blocking process, but according to Mylod, that wasn’t a priority in shooting this episode,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Succession Season 4, Episode 10, “With Open Eyes.”] After a rollercoaster fourth season, Succession finally closed the curtain on the Roy family’s fascinating story, answering the long-lingering question, which was, who would take over for Logan (Brian Cox), especially following his death earlier in the season. Well, it would seem that Season 2’s “thank you for the chicken” scene between the late patriarch and his son-in-law would have a greater symbolic resonance than anyone may have anticipated because it was Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) who came out on top. While the episode began with Shiv (Sarah Snook) believing she’d be named CEO following Matsson’s (Alexander Skarsgård) acquisition of Waystar, which ultimately did go through, she learned partway through the episode that the Gojo lead had a different boss in mind than her. (Credit: David M. Russell/HBO) It wasn’t until a family gathering at Logan’s house, where...

Succession may be all about the Roys, but a pivotal election is up on the agenda for this week’s installment, “America Decides,” airing Sunday, May 14, and the stakes are high. With the fate of Waystar Royco in the balance as Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) attempt to blow up the deal with Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), Shiv (Sarah Snook) is seemingly working against them, keeping her best interests served to move forward with the acquisition. But could these opposing stances also have an impact on the siblings’ views of election night? (Credit: David M. Russell/HBO) It’s obvious that Shiv and Roman are on completely different sides with her vouching for the Democratic candidate and Roman vying for the Republican candidate, Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk), who viewers met last season and have since popped up on other occasions in Season 4. Meanwhile, it would seem that Kendall is...

Following breakouts to the Norwegian mountains and Hollywood Hills, “Succession” found the walls of a single Manhattan location closing in again for Episode 7, titled “Tailgate Party.”
While not quite as claustrophobic as the season’s fourth episode, set entirely in the late Logan Roy’s penthouse, this presidential election eve shindig at Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Tom Wambsgans’ (Matthew Macfadyen) high-rise triplex is even more emotionally fraught. Shiv’s brothers Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) maneuver to block the sale of family media empire Waystar to goofy Swedish online mogul — and unwelcome guest — Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), while trying to put out smaller fires that the looming election and their own incompetence have ignited. It all leads up to the five-and-a-half minute, knockdown dragout fight between Shiv and Tom that we’ve been waiting for since Season 1.
Maybe they should have just barbequed off the back of...

Spoiler warning for Succession season 4, episode three, “Connor’s Wedding,” written by creator Jesse Armstrong and directed by Mark Mylod.
During the fourth and final season of Succession, fans were treated to another wedding episode, making for a third lively Roy family gathering filled with events that tend to overshadow the marriage at hand.
“There’s a lot more going on during Connor’s wedding than just the wedding. It’s a very complicated episode,” Alan Ruck told Et, while J. Smith-Cameron added, “It’s not what you expected. That’s all I’ll say.”
“It’s one of my favorites,” Nicholas Braun said, noting there’s “an incredible storm” taking place the middle of it. And boy, they weren’t kidding.
Not long after the episode started, the focus on Connor’s (Ruck) nuptials to Willa (Justine Lupe) quickly shifted when the series took a shocking and unexpected turn...

It may not be easy to see someone else working with the team in Special Agent Maggie Bell’s (Missy Peregrym) absence, but at least it’s a familiar face? Beginning with the April 26 episode, Shantel VanSanten is coming back in a recurring capacity as Special Agent Nina Chase as FBI heads towards its Season 4 finale (May 24), TVLine reports. Special Agent Omar Adom “Oa” Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) is the one down a partner, but the team does shuffle about and she’ll be working with the others — Stuart Scola (John Boyd) and Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Turner) — as well. David M. Russell/CBS That should make things interesting for Scola, given their history (as fans learned when VanSanten first appeared in April 12’s “One Night Stand”). “I’ve changed,” Scola told Nina at the end of the episode. “Let’s have dinner.” She said no, but he insisted, “I just...
