Surj Das is an award-winning screenwriter and director who earned his BFA in Film & TV from NYU, and his MFA from USC. Born and raised in The Bronx, his Asian American background and the diversity of cultural influences in New York City have informed Surj's unique voice as a storyteller, which he has utilized to great effect in countless scripts and films.
Surj has won The Launch Pad Competition, earned placement on The Hit List and Young & Hungry List, and participated in the CAPE New Writers Fellowship and Pearl Studio's Artist in Residence Program for Screenwriters in Shanghai, China. He was a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and Universal Studios Writers Program, and won both the screenwriting and directing awards at NYU's First Run Film Festival.
Surj has also worked as an editor for PBS and MTV, a script analyst at Mandalay Pictures and Mirabai Films, and has written feature film projects for Sony Pictures and Ed Helm's Pacific Electric Picture Company among others. He is represented by UTA and Romark.
