Ranvir Shorey while being a celebrated actor has also had his fair share of reality television, his close proximity to the participants of reality television, apparently, compelled him to sign up for his latest film Blue Mountain.
“It is a rather myopic view if people think reality television is only what they see on the television. What we see is the journey of the winners, the journey of the kids who have done well and succeeded, but there are thousands of those who participate and don’t win. It is their crushed dreams that compelled me to sign Blue Mountain. A film about a journey of a small town boy into the world of reality television. It is not easy being those kids, and with the film I took that journey with them. It is this side of reality television that needs to be showcased. When I read the script,...

The second zombie film of the year, Go Goa Gone, is a reunion of sorts for co-directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk, along with music directors Sachin-Jigar after their sleeper hit, Shor in the City.
The film immediately has us hooked with its wicked dialogues, addictive score, and Saif as the bleached Boris. If the trailer had us salivating for more zombie kills and wisecracks, then the promos for Slowly Slowly and Khoon Choos Le have us amped to see these songs in action. Sachin and Jigar are coming off a very strong year with their songs as the redeeming feature in I, Me, aur Main and along with their fantastic album for Abcd. Sachin and Jigar display their versatility and sense of play on a crazy album like this where they let loose on the dubstep and electronic loops. The duo always seems ready for a challenge,...

!In an exchange of creativity and performance exposure, Rise of the Zombie, India’s first zombie origin film has come up with a novel idea to work with some of India’s leading independent musicians. This was an effort to develop the soundtracks of the film without being labelled under any banner.
Ace musicians and performers namely Suraj Jagan, Aditi Singh Sharma, Luke Kenny, Caralisa Monteiro, Arfaaz & Anuraag and Ankur Tewari have contributed lyrically, vocally and musically to the film. Mizoram’s leading rock band, Boomerang, have also composed and sung the song a rock song for the film. Grammy award winning Indian-born composer, Biddu, has re-mastered his own track ‘Aao Na’ from the 80′s for the film. The soundtrack also features a Swedish song by Sofia Jannok of the same nationality to graciously have her track to be used in the film.

One of the most exciting releases of 2013 has to be Remo D’Souza’s Abcd – AnyBody Can Dance, which is India’s first 3D dance film. Sachin and Jigar certainly deliver their best work with this album, showcasing their versatility and delivering a consistently brilliant selection of tracks. Each track gets you immediately hooked and even more curious to see how it will be picturized onscreen.
We start off with a bang with, Shambhu Sataya, a rollicking Ganesh devotional song that packs the punch with its loud percussion, and drums that line the track. Shankar Mahadevan opens the track with a soothing shloka, that gives way to the thumping dhols and nagadas. The interplay between Mahadevan and Vishal Dadlani raspy vocals make this a loud treat. The bridge is one of the most interesting parts as it features the chorus rapping the shlokas, which works so seamlessly. The track is energetic and deeply layered,...

Film: "Inkaar"; Music Director: Shantanu Moitra; Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire; Singers: Shantunu Moitra, Swanand Kirkire, K. Mohan, Suraj Jagan and Monali Thakur; Rating: ***1/2 - Rock dominant.
The chemistry between Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh has already upped the ante for upcoming film "Inkaar", which sees Sudhir Mishra uniting with his muse yet again. Musically speaking, the album has only five tracks composed by Shantanu Moitra, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire.
The soundtrack kicks off with "Darmiyaan", which begins as a rock track with guitar riffs. However, it takes an interesting turn as the vocals are introduced in.

It is arguable that Suddhir Mishra’s Inkaar may not have scope for music, but over the years situational tracks for non-musical features have proven to be musically appealing, the likes of Shor in the City and Shanghai being proof of it. Therefore, Inkaar cannot be readily dismissed.
The musical-lyrical duo of Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire (3 Idiots, Parineeta and Munna Bhai series) are at the helm of Inkaar. The soundtrack compromises of five tracks and features the musical talents of Suraj Jaggan (‘Sadka Kiya’ – I Hate Luv Storys and ‘Afatoon Ke Parindey’ – Ishaqzaade), Swanadand Kirkire amongst others.
The album commences with Darmiyaan, a pseudo-sufi sung by Swanand Kirikire. Its beginning suggests a sufi/rock fusion and therefore once anticipates a promising start to the album but ‘Darmiyaan’ falters. Lyrically, the track is sound but vocally and musically it favours the unremarkable. Kirikire’s performance, arguably intended to be raw...

Amit Trivedi is truly one of the most innovative music directors ever, but even the new mavericks have off days. The Ekk Main aur Ekk Tu Ost may have divided the fans as it carried more populist sound than the usual Trivedi we are used to, but it was certainly a new sound that you either liked or didn’t. Bouncing back, Trivedi composed the music to Ishaqzaade, which has made headlines everywhere for the exciting leads Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. With a rustic setting, and a leading man to look out for, the promos certainly got us hooked with the gritty music. Trivedi is always a trendsetter, and after this soundtrack, we are sure to have a dubstep wave soon. I do not like it at all, but leave it to Trivedi to change my mind!

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!

Playback singers are the unsung heroes of Indian Cinema (no pun intended). This year, for the very first time, Bollyspice would like to congratulate the following 10 male playback singers for their outstanding work in Indian Cinema in 2011.
10. Mika Singh
No one does a mass entertainer quite like Mika Singh and 2011 was no different with crowd-pleasing hits like like ‘Desi Beats’ (Bodyguard), ‘Dhinka Chika’ (Ready), ‘Saj Dhaj Ke’ (Mausam), ‘Pyaar Do’ (Thank You), ‘F.A.L.T.U’ and ‘Hero’ (Desi Boyz).
9. Shankar Mahadevan
Shankar Mahadevan began the year with a brilliant desi/urban mesh-up, ‘Rola Pe Gaya’ (Patiala House) and followed through with thought provoking ‘Der Lagi’ (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and ‘Roshni’ (Aarakshan). However, it was the obscure ‘Chand Pal Ke Humsafar’ (Mod) that was the most impressive.

Yash Raj Films are synonymous with love stories, and with their second release from newly launched youth division Y-Films, the production house stick to what they know best: a story about love.
A romantic comedy set against the backdrop of social networking, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge tells the tale of two losers, Vishal (Saqib Saleem) and Preity (Saba Azad) who fake their online identities in an attempt to get the attention of drop dead gorgeous Malvika (Tara D’Souza) and rockstar Rahul (Nishant Dahiya). What they do not realize, is that the person they hate most in the real world, just happens to be the same person they have fallen in love with online.
So, the premise for the season’s most screwed up love story, is: Rahul loves Malvika. And Malvika loves Rahul. But Rahul is not Rahul. Rahul is Vishal. And Vishal loves Malvika too. But Malvika is not Malvika either.

After a glimpse of the arresting background score from Dum Maaro Dum, Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale have teamed up as music directors for Neerav Ghosh’s Soundtrack. The film is an official remake of the cult hit It’s All Gone Pete Tong about an Ibiza DJ whose chaotic lifestyle coincides with him going deaf. The original had a rollicking soundtrack of club hits by Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode, and others. Teaming two of the most popular remix and chill out artists the expectations are bound to be huge for this album. Does it succeed expectations?
The album hits the ground running with the awesome Atomizer sung by Gaurav Raina and Karsh Kale. Opening with a gritty guitar hook and launching into loud ganpati drums, with 80’s synthesizers layering the track. Although Disney Motion Picture Studios is best known, of course, for its animated movies, the company has always sought to expand its creative interests. Recently, Disney has slowly been making its way into the Indian film industry by producing several unique projects making one Telugu and two Hindi films. The Telugu film Once Upon a Warrior (Anaganaga O Dheerudu) was a special effects-filled fantasy adventure, then there was the very well received Hindi film Do Dooni Chaar, which stars Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and the other Hindi film Zokkomon (touted as the first Indian child superhero movie). All three were released on DVD this week in the Us and Canada and for the first time ever Indian films, (Zokkomon and the other two aforementioned Disney World cinema films) were also released on several platforms including iTunes, Amazon and pay per view channels on the same day as their DVD release.

One of the films that many have on their I must go see this in the theater on July 15th list is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Why? Well, take Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, add in Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin, plus it is all mixed together by the direction of Zoya Akhtar and what do you get? We are thinking a great movie. Of course, a great movie has to have fab music and Znmd has that in spades as well and Dil Dhadakne Do is placed right on top of the song list. It serves as an ideal starter with the crew throwing in everything they have. Nice punchy beat, some guitar chords and Suraj Jagan, Shankar Mahadevan and Joi Barua on vocals gives this song the whole Rock On treatment.
Check out the gorgeous scenery of Dil Dhadakne Do! We are not just talking about how cute Hrithik,...
