The third Night At The Museum installment hits theaters this weekend with one of Robin Williams‘ last performances, plus amusing turns by several series regulars, as I say in my video review above. The cast is led by Ben Stiller as the nightwatchman dealing with lively exhibits at the museum, played by Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Steve Coogan, Rebel Wilson and Ben Kingsley with a terrific performance by Downton Abbey alumnus Dan Stevens as a gung-ho knight.
Veteran comedy helmer Shawn Levy directed from a script written by David Guion and Michael Handelman, from a story by the pair and Mark Friedman. Producers are Levy and Chris Columbus. Fox is handling distribution.
Are you going to see the film? Watch my review and let us know.

Actress Ellen Burstyn has signed on to make her feature directorial debut on the character drama "Bathing Flo" inspired by the life of Thruline manager-producer Danny Sherman.

Chris Columbus has a reputation for throwing his producing weight behind dramas that delve into history, including The Help and The Butler. He is now turning his attention to a true-life Holocaust refugee story, starting development on Exodus 47.Mark Friedman is adapting the script from John Grauel’s autobiography. Grauel was a Baptist minister who was aboard the steam ship Exodus 47 on a mission to help deliver Holocaust survivors to freedom shortly after World War II. The ship loaded 4,5000 refugees at the French port of Sète but was turned back near Palestine. The refugees ended up in internment camps in Cyprus, but their story ended up playing a major role in the creation of Israel in 1948. “I am really excited about the chance to bring Exodus 47 to the screen,” Columbus tells Variety. “I find it astounding that this particular and very real version of the Exodus story has never been turned into a movie.

NBC has lucked into good timing: “Believe,” its new drama from J.J. Cuaron wrote “Gravity” with his son, Jonas, and hopes to be closely involved with the NBC series he created with Mark Friedman. Also read: NBC’s Jennifer Salke...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the first announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on NBC.
The Peacock did not have a good year. Only one of its new shows, "Revolution," was a true hit. Another, "Chicago Fire," got renewed by the skin of its teeth whilst the fate of a third, "Hannibal," remains uncertain.
None of last year's new comedies survived, neither did two mid-season dramas, which leaves the network with some big holes to fill. Three dramas and three comedies will debut in the Fall ahead of three more dramas and two comedies mid-season. Two further dramas and a comedy are presently unscheduled.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't become series including the high-profile Charlize Theron-produced drama about the Hatfields and McCoys, the Bruckheimer-produced...

The new fall season is closer than you think, and NBC has released their full schedule. Apart from reality favorites The Biggest Loser and The Voice, they are mixing things up quite a bit.
Take a look at a complete preview of the shows coming your way, and mark your calendars. It looks good for NBC this year, and while I’m not sure all of these look like winners, I think you’ll find at least a couple that you’re really going to like.

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).
Check out my choices for the best prospective pilots NBC and CBS have ordered, and come back tomorrow to see my picks for ABC and Fox:

Exclusive: Warner Bros TV is exploring casting of key roles in its high-concept drama project from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams. The project, tentatively titled Believe, already has a pilot production commitment. It is not unusual for studios to do preliminary casting work on high-profile projects before a formal green light, especially those with a strong, hard-to-find lead whose casting can make or break a show. Wbtv is doing the same with the lead in its potential Wonder Woman origin series at the CW, Amazon. Directed by Cuarón and written by him and Mark Friedman, Believe is about a girl in possession of a great gift/powers — which will come into their own in seven years– and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down. The breakdown, released this week by casting director April Webster, is searching for the young lead: 10-year-old Bo,...

NBC must be feeling pretty good about their new Bad Robot produced series Revolution because they’re ready to team-up with J.J. Abrams again on a new sci-fi premise, this time from the mind of Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).
Warner Bros. TV and Abrams’ Bad Robot will produce, with Cuarón directing from a script co-written by himself and Mark Friedman. The high-concept series will center on a girl who has special powers of some kind that will fully come to fruition in seven years. She is placed under the protection of a man recently sprung from prison who will attempt to shield her from those trying to hunt her down.
Sounds kind of like the plot for Cuarón’s Children of Men, except with more of a sci-fi tinge to it. That’s fine by me. I loved Children of Men, and...

Ben Stiller has dived into the Black List from last year and is attached to direct Help Me Spread Goodness, a screenplay by Mark Friedman, which was included on the aforementioned list of the best unproduced screenplays of 2008.
The story follows a banker in Chicago who is duped by email spammers into giving away his son’s college and then travels to Nigeria to confront those who have wronged him.
It sounds like an interesting project, but I can imagine the key will be Stiller finding the right tone for the story. Care must also be taken, it seems to me, not to make the story too serious given the current climate of Wall Street distrust.
Stiller himself is currently also attached to The Trial of the Chicago 7, previously under the control of Steven Spielberg, which tells the story of the protests and subsequent trials at the 1968 Democratic Convention in the city.

Ben Stiller's next feature film project will be "Help Me Spread Goodness". The 43-year-old funny man has been set by Participant Media to inject some comedy into the upcoming drama with him serving behind the lens as the project's director.
This project won't be Stiller's first. He has been credited as the helmer of several movies, including 2008's "Tropic Thunder". For the project, the Greg Focker of "Meet the Parents" series is expected to bring the story of a Chicago banker who gets swindled in a Nigerian Internet scam, into production when he is finished directing "The Trial of the Chicago 7".
Beside being tapped as director, the actor who will soon be seen in "Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian" will also produce the project with Red Hour partners, Stuart Kornfeld and Jeremy Kramer. Nonetheless, it isn't clear whether he will star in this proposed movie or not.

The script, about a Chicago banker who gets swindled in a Nigerian Internet scam, was written by Mark Friedman and developed by Participant Media’s Jonathan King and Ricky Strauss before they took it to Stiller. While the project is meant to be entertaining, it sheds light on current issues in Nigeria and other African countries, fitting the Participant Media mandate to make films that compel social change. Stiller, who last directed Tropic Thunder, is also attached to helm The Trial of the Chicago 7, the Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama that Stiller took over after Steven Spielberg exited as director.
