CollegeHumor, the Iac-owned online comedy brand, has launched a pay subscription service dubbed Dropout that it says will offer longer-form uncensored content for between $4 and $6 per month.
The mixed-media platform -- which is currently available on the web, with native apps to roll out for both iOS and Android later this year -- will include original series and other visual storytelling mediums like chat stories and digital comics. Members will also be able to communicate with show creators and one another via a dedicated channel on Discord -- a popular voice and text service that is popular among online gamers.
At launch, Dropout's programming slate includes a second season of Lonely And Horny from CollegeHumor standouts Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld, and a reboot of the Honey Boo Boo-inspired Precious Plum -- which has been renamed See Plum Run -- from Josh Ruben and Elaine Carroll. Troopers, a...

Is it even possible to get crazier than CollegeHumor’s YouTube channel? Apparently, the company thinks so, as it just announced the launch of its weirder new channel, CH2. Aimed at creating experimental sketches, CH2 will do everything CollegeHumor’s main channel does but with a more alternative flair. According to a release, part of CollegeHumor’s reason for launching CH2 is to encourage the development of and give a home to “quirky passion projects” from both familiar and new names in comedy. This angle is already reflected in some of the first videos to be uploaded, like Elaine Carroll’s “Big Boned Cheerleaders” about the intimate connection between those sturdier cheerleaders who always end up as the base of the pyramid formations. "Some of the most popular series and characters throughout CollegeHumor's history have originated from taking risks and trying new things," says Sam Reich, founder of CollegeHumor and President of Big Breakfast,...

Abby Elliott is officially leaving SNL, and so begins the show’s meticulous search for a new cast member. Or SNL could just hire one of the five comedians we chose for them below! Weeee! What a time saver! Seriously though, seeing as how SNL hired the hilarious Kate McKinnon immediately before Kristen Wiig‘s exit (and Andy Samberg shan’t be returning in the fall), it only stands to reason the show will be bringing in some new faces soon. Maybe some of the faces can be…these faces?
1. James Adomian, @JAdomian
The fact this Last Comic Standing alum isn’t already on SNL boggles our minds. If you’ve ever heard him during his frequent guest spots on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, you know having James Adomian around is like having Paul Giamatti, Jesse Ventura and/or Alan Rickman in the room with you, without all the...

With "Saturday Night Live" featured player Paul Brittain departing earlier this season, there's a little room on the roster for some fresh meat. Now, a new report from Deadline says that comedian Kate McKinnon will fill Brittain's shoes as a new featured player starting with the April 7 episode, hosted by Sofia Vergara.
According to Deadline, McKinnon, along with Jessica Joy, Lauren Lapkus and Elaine Carroll, have all tested for "SNL" honcho Lorne Michaels in recent weeks, but McKinnon made the cut and will debut soon. NBC has not commented officially on the matter.
It makes sense that Michaels is looking to add more women to the cast, since both Kristen Wiig and Abby Elliott could leave the show at the end of the season.
McKinnon comes from New York's Upright Citizens Brigade theater, and was a cast member on Logo's "Big Gay Sketch Show." She also has the distinction of...

Saturday Night Live bosses are reportedly on the hunt for more female stars amid uncertainty over Kristen Wiig's future on the show. Kate McKinnon of The Big Gay Sketch Show is to make her debut on the April 7 episode of the NBC series, which will Jessica Joy (The Playboy Club), Lauren Lapkus (Are You There Chelsea), Elaine Carroll (Very Mary-Kate) and three male performers have also taken screen tests in front of SNL creator Lorne Michaels, (more)...

With several members of the cast expected to depart at the end of this season, "Saturday Night Live" is recruiting reinforcements. Deadline.com reported on Wednesday that seven performers have auditioned for "SNL" creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels in the past several weeks, and one has already been hired as a featured player for an episode of the long-running NBC sketch show this season.Kate McKinnon, who has been performing sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York since 2008, will make her "Saturday Night Live" debut on Saturday, April 7 in an episode hosted by Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"). Jessica Joy ("The Playboy Club"), Lauren Lapkus ("Are You There, Chelsea?") and Elaine Carroll ("Very Mary-Kate") have all reportedly auditioned for the show, as well.In addition to her Ucb experience, McKinnon starred in three seasons of "The Big Gay Sketch Show" on Logo TV and has provided voiceover.

Only four members of Saturday Night Live's thirteen-person cast are female, and two of those — Kristen Wiig and Abby Elliott — may not be much longer for the series, as each has been booking extracurricular projects (though Elliot just fell out of the Fox pilot she'd booked a starring role in). With that in mind, Deadline reports that Lorne Michaels has been auditioning new women for the sketch show, and Big Gay Sketch Show veteran Kate McKinnon will join the cast for the next new episode. Other comediennes who've been in the mix include Jessica Joy, Lauren Lapkus, and Elaine Carroll, and yes, the latter is from your favorite web series Very Mary-Kate, and yes again, Michaels still seems unable to find a single funny black woman. Maya Rudolph guest appearances only go so far, guys.

Exclusive: With the future of its biggest female star, Kristen Wiig, up in the air, NBC’s Saturday Night Live is moving to add reinforcements. I hear that in the past several weeks, seven comedy performers tested for SNL honcho Lorne Michaels, including the following four ladies: Kate McKinnon (The Big Gay Sketch Show), Jessica Joy (The Playboy Club), Lauren Lapkus (Are You There Chelsea) and Elaine Carroll (Very Mary-Kate). I hear one of them, Ucb’s McKinnon, will make her debut on SNL‘s next show next Saturday hosted by Sofia Vergara. It is unclear if Michaels would try out more new performers this season in preparation for locking in the cast of NBC’s late-night sketch comedy series for next season. As for Bridesmaids star Wiig, whose contract is up at the end of the season, a final decision about her future on SNL is expected in the summer.

In order to show it commiserates with its target demo and the nauseous feeling college coeds get when they’re amped up on too much caffeine, too many study drugs, too little sleep, and study habits that are better defined as cases of chronic procrastination, the crew at CollegeHumor stays up all night one day a year during your typical college finals season and creates videos. The Fourth Annual CollegeHumor All-Nighter ended at 9:30Am Est Friday morning. It began at 9:30Pm Est Thursday night with a live broadcast of the CollegeHumor show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Over the course of the next 11 or so hours, the crew at CollegeHumor uploaded no less than 10 videos featuring the online destination’s regular cast plus special guest appearances from Elaine Carroll, Chris Gethard, Ben Rodgers, Jon Gabrus, Elephant Larry, BriTANick, and CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen. There's a rash of new content heading toward the Web. Two new episodes of Lionsgate's first web series from producer Hud:sun Media’s Max Benator and creator Todd Goldman, the raunchy animated Trailer Trash, debuted exclusively on Hulu this week (clips below). The hope, always, in this transmedia age, is to capture enough attention from viewers that the real revenue producing venues--television and movies--come calling. Also online this March are a new Michael Cera CollegeHumor.com web series Bad Dads and a new twist on gender-bending, The Girls on Film (videos below). The dark comedy series Bad Dads, which launched March 2, showcases new comedy work from Cera, who is supported by Will Hines (Upright Citizens Brigade), Elaine Carroll (Very Mary-Kate), and Brian Gallivan (Sassy Gay Friend). ...
