Crafted during a period of tumultuous uncertainty, Amaka Lin’s experimental dance short Stasis explores our relationship with time, nature and the unknowability of the future. As she mentions in our interview below, Lin drew from the eerie yet calming textures of dark ambient music when crafting the tone of her film. Watching it, you can see how that’s apparent in the sonic palette but it also comes through in the carefully choreographed movements of her performers, who convey an unsettled sense of being suspended in time. It’s also shot on 16mm which gives the short that added grainy texture to fully envelop the viewer in its perturbing atmosphere. Dn is delighted to present the premiere of Stasis and spoke with Lin who broke down the construction of her short’s tone, the benefits of shooting on film, and the aforementioned influence of both ambient and classical music.

Alicia Keys heads into the knockout round on season 14 of “The Voice” with the strongest team of the four coaches. That is not surprising given that she also had the best team before the battles began as her 12 artists had a whopping 29 chair turns during the blind auditions. At the end of the battle round, she had cut that roster in half and added two steals.
These eight artists merited 22 chair turns between them. Compare that to the rosters of the other coaches: six-time champ Blake Shelton (19 turns); rookie Kelly Clarkson (17 turns) and three-time winner Adam Levine (13 turns).
Keys pitted up her original 12 artists against each other in six battles. The winners of these — Johnny Bliss, Britton Buchanan, Sharane Callister, Terrence Cunningham, Christiana Danielle and Kelsea Johnson — move on to the knockout round. She used one steal to throw Miya Bass a lifeline after Adam Levine opted to keep Drew Cole...

Third time is proving to be the charm for Alicia Keys as a coach on “The Voice.” Our readers say she has put together a far stronger team than the other three mentors (rookie Kelly Clarkson and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton). She was spoiled for choice as the 12 artists that she brought into the battle round earned a whopping 29 chair turns during the blind auditions.
Keys could take only six of these contestants on to the knockout round, which kicks off on April 2. She also picked up two artists from other coaches after they lost their respective battles. Which of the eight artists on her team heading into the knockout round do you think could go all the way and win season 14 of “The Voice”?

In her third stint as a coach on “The Voice,” Alicia Keys is proving to be a fierce competitor. She put together a far stronger team than the other three mentors (rookie Kelly Clarkson and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton). The 12 artists that she brought into the battle round earned a whopping 29 chair turns during the blind auditions.
We are now halfway through this second stage of the competition. Keys has pitted eight of her dozen artists against each other in battles on March 19 and 20. The four winners — Johnny Bliss, Sharane Calister, Christiana Danielle and Kelsea Johnson — move on to the knockout round. Three of the four losers — Jamai, Shana Halligan and Megan Lee — saw their time on “The Voice” come to an end. The other artist who went down to defeat – Jordyn Simone – was thrown a rescue line by Levine.

The March 20 episode of “The Voice” was the second of four devoted to the battle round of the competition. Each of the four coaches — rookie Kelly Clarkson, the returning Alicia Keys and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — must pit pairs of their artists against each other in sing-offs. One from each duet will move on to the knockout round while the other is up for grabs. Each coach has two such steals, which means that 32 of the 48 artists will make it through these battles.
While Monday’s show had run for two hours, the March 20 episode was only an hour long. That meant that we only saw three of the six sing-offs in full. Not surprisingly, when we asked which of the battles was best, the three that were little seen ranked at the bottom of the poll results. The three that were screened in full all merited about...

‘The Voice’: Which of the three battles that didn’t air on March 20 did you most want to see? [Poll]
One of the most compelling components of “The Voice” is the battle round in which coaches have to select two of their artists to sing the same song and choose one of them to take on to the knockout round. Each of the four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — can throw two losers of other battles lifelines and take them on-board their team.
While we saw all six battles in full on Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” Tuesday’s show short-changed viewers by denying them the chance to see three of these match-ups. We didn’t get to watch the performances that won over the coaches. Sure, none of the artists who went down to defeat were stolen by any of the other coaches. But it would have been fun to see the whole song, hear the critiques of the coaches in full and judge for ourselves.

The second episode of “The Voice” devoted to the make-or-break battle round shortchanged viewers by only showing three of the six duets in full. While Monday’s show had run for two hours, the March 20 episode was only an hour long. That meant that we only saw three of the six battles in full.
As with the first night, the four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — paired up two of the 12 artists on their teams to do a duet. The winner of each of these battles goes through to the knockout round. Each coach can steal two of the 18 losers from the battles overseen by the other coaches.
The coaches were offered advise during rehearsals by four hit-makers: Clarkson had Hailee Steinfeld, by her side, Keys was counseled by Shawn Mendes, Levine turned to Julie Michaels, and Shelton brought in Trace Adkins.

Before we review the contestants who duked it out in Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 14 Battles, can we press “pause” for a hot second and just savor the awesome bizarreness of these particular rounds? We have two contestants labeled teammates singing a duet together. Only each one’s goal is not to do well for the team but for themselves. It doesn’t matter if they put forth the best duet they possibly can or sound great together, it only matters if they manage to outshine their partner. It’s even more bizarre than the Knockouts, in which the...

Alicia Keys returned as a coach on season 14 of “The Voice” fresh from a win. In her second stint as a mentor, she propelled Chris Blue to victory last spring. One of the keys to her success was choosing the right artists at each stage of the competition. This season’s battle rounds begin on March 19 and Keys must choose which six contestants on her team to take through to the next round, the knockouts. To assist her in making these tough decisions, Keys has brought in teen heartthrob Shawn Mendes as an advisor. He certainly understands the pressures facing these would-be stars.
We have done some digging and discovered the match-ups of the 12 artists on Team Alicia Keys. We recap these below, including the songs that each of these contestants performed in the blind audition episodes that brought them to this point in the competition.

Season 14 of “The Voice” just wrapped six nights of blind auditions and all four coaches now have their initial teams of 12. Which coach do you think has assembled the strongest roster of artists this cycle: rookie Kelly Clarkson, one-time champ Alicia Keys, three-time winner Adam Levine or six-time victor Blake Shelton? Vote in our poll below and then be sure to sound off on your favorite coach and artist in the comments section.
Each of these initial teams is comprised of a dozen artists from around the country who inspired at least one coach to hit their button and turn during the blind auditions. Next up are the battle rounds, where the coaches will pit pairs of artists against each other to determine who will advance and who’ll be sent home. It’s at this stage that the judges are allowed to steal three artists from their rival coaches.

Going into Night 4 of The Voice’s Season 14 Blind Auditions, I was thinking that Alicia Keys wasn’t kidding, like, at all when she told Kelsea Johnson that she was an unstoppable beast who had every intention of winning the show again, as she had with Chris Blue in Season 12. Ahead of Tuesday’s episode, her team was made up damn near entirely of singers that I either liked a bunch (Kelsea and Britton Buchanan) or flat-out loved (Johnny Bliss, Christiana Danielle and my current favorite, Jaclyn Lovey). Did the coach recruit any more real contenders on Tuesday? Read on and find out…...

Speakers discussed how platforms can offer differentials from terrestrial TV content.
Localising content and producing originals are key to developing Ott platforms in Asia, said speakers on a Hong Kong Filmart panel, ‘New Opportunities in the Explosive Growth of Online Entertainment’, today (March 14).
Meg Lee, Pccw’s assistant vice president, content management – digital media, explained that the company’s Viu Ott platform offers local-language content in most markets it operates in across southeast Asia, India and the Middle East. However, Korean dramas that it licenses from Korea’s major broadcasters seem to work almost everywhere.
Lee also said that Viu creates news and other information content around its Korean shows: “We believe demand for social media and short-form news content is growing and this allows us to build a closer connection with the fans.”
