Very sad news came Wednesday with the revelation that Stephen Boss aka “tWitch,” has passed away at just 40 years old. The dancer first came to prominence after he was runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, which led to his eight years as the DJ, dance-in-residence, and eventual executive producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He met his wife, Allison Holker on Sytycd Season 7, and they married in 2013, sharing three children together. In Season 17, he served as a judge on the long-running dance series, alongside Leah Remini and JoJo Siwa. In honor of his years of incredible work onstage, here are some of tWitch’s most memorable performances on the show. His First Audition on So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 His Second Audition on Sytycd Season 4 “Mercy” with Katee Shean — Season 4 “Dreaming With a Broken Heart” with Kherington Payne — Season 4 “Ukrainian/Russian Trepak” with Joshua Allen...

Stephen “tWitch” Boss, an all-star competitor on “So You Think You Can Dance” and longtime “Ellen” DJ, has died by suicide. His wife confirmed his passing Wednesday morning in a statement to People. He was 40.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” said Allison Holker Boss. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
She continued, “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time...

In the most recent season of the popular reality dance show So You Think You Can Dance (Sytycd), Executive Producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe called Nakul Dev Mahajan – The King of Bollywood and that was a well deserved compliment. The choreographer has been part of the show since season 4 in 2008, where his first number thrilled audiences and has gone down in Sytycd history as one of the best routines and a defining moment of the show. It is now 10 years later, 11 seasons later and 30 routines later and Nakul still has the passion, the drive and the excellence to bring Bollywood to America and the audiences and judges love it!
In this very in-depth conversation, Nakul and Stacey look back at his career presenting Bollywood dance on Sytycd. Indulge us and get lost in the dance; you will not regret taking that step!

Only eight contestants remain on So You Think You Can Dance‘s Season 14 roster, and it seems they’re willing to do anything to stay in the competition: Get tied to a chair! Dance in a pile of garbage! Wear strange blonde wigs! (Whoops, sorry. That was just Vanessa Hudgens.)
Monday’s episode of Dance also delivered some major nostalgia for the Fox series’ glory days, back when 20 amateurs would make it to the live shows and pair up with one another for two months of remarkable growth. (Nigel, if you miss it so much, please make it a thing again.

(S07E12) We already know at least one dancer who'll be in the Bottom Three this week on 'So You Think You Can Dance': standout Alex Wong, who was injured during rehearsals.
New rules dictate that contestants who cannot dance are automatically put in the Bottom Three. While I have no doubt that fans would save Alex with their votes, whether he can continue on the show is definitely in question.
"If he can't appear next week, he is automatically out of the competition," a solemn Nigel Lythgoe announced, adding it would be heartbreaking if Alex, who's been killing it all season, had to be cut -- especially since he gave up his position at the Miami Ballet to be eligible. Asked if it hurt, Nigel related that Alex had told him, "Only in my heart."

A pall was cast over So You Think You Can Dance last night after it was revealed that Alex Wong hurt his leg while rehearsing a Bollywood routine with Adechike Torbert.
He could not perform last night.
Best case: He'll recover and perform next week. Worst case: Alex ruptured his Achilles tendon and is Dfy. Sad. He's in the bottom three tonight automatically either way.
Given his popularity, and the fact that fans will sympathize with his injury, we'd say there's little chance he'll be voted out, especially if there's a chance he's on the mend.
If he can't perform next week, however, then he's out for good. Cross your fingers that scenario never comes into play and wish Alex Wong a swift and thorough recovery.
Your Top Eight Dancers: (from left to right) Lauren Froderman, Jose Ruiz, Kent Boyd, the injured Alex Wong, Ashley Galvan, AdeChike Torbert, Robert Roldan and Billy Bell.

"So You Think You Can Dance" injuries have often been the bane of the competitors' existence, but all-star Allison Holker is the one being sidelined this time around.
The 22-year-old contemporary jazz dancer had announced on Twitter she was sitting out from the show for one week, and was kind enough to take time from her recovery to tell Zap2it the details of her rib injury.
"I'm feeling okay," she says, "disappointed obviously that I'm not going to be able to dance this week, but it's completely understandable why. Pain-wise, it really hurts, it does, but more than anything I feel bad that I'm not dancing. I have to tell you I've had some really major injuries. So this would only rank at a 4 or a 5 [on a scale of 1-10]."
Holker sustained the injury two weeks ago during her performance with Adechike Torbert two weeks ago for the "Listen to Your Heart" dance number by choreographer Mandy Moore.

"So You Think You Can Dance" has had its first sidelining injury of the season, but at least it's not a competitor.
All-star Allison Holker, who's consistently wowed the audience and overshadowed her partner this season, is out for the week due to an injury.
"Hey guys I have to sit this week out of #sytycd I hurt my ribs but I'm gonna rest and heal and I'll be back by next week!!" she tweets. She recently paired with Kent Boyd for a jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore.
Although she'll be missed, at least another fan favorite, Season 4's Katee Shean will return, most like to sub in for Holker.
Judge Nigel Lythgoe tweets, "the rumour is true that Katie Shean is on this week's #Sytycd. Happy 234th birthday America. Do I have to leave the Country tomorrow?"
And then adds, " Doh!! Sorry Katee Shean will be on #Sytycd along with Nyjel Lithgo.

"Glee" has been keeping Lauren Gottlieb busy before she returns as an all-star on "So You Think You Can Dance."
The 21-year-old dancer is one of the members of Vocal Adrenaline, the show choir nemesis of William McKinley High's underdog glee club New Directions. In Tuesday's (June 1) episode "Funk," our heroes get discouraged after seeing Vocal Adrenaline kicking butt as usual, so it's up to Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) to raise their morale.
Although Gottlieb enjoys being the villain on "Glee," the actors' heartbreaking performances sometimes make it hard to play the bad guy.
"It's crazy and we love it because we're all together, so we just ham it up all day," she tells Zap2it. "But it's really sad to look over when we're shooting a scene with the main cast and Lea Michele is almost in tears. It's really sad. I'm definitely not that person to just stand...

Sassy Lauren Gottlieb is back on "So You Think You Can Dance," and she's more excited than before.
"It's really, really nerve-racking, and I think it'll bring back all those old feelings from the past," the dancer tells Zap2it about returning as an all-star partner to the Top 10 finalists.
"I think looking back on the show, being 18-years-old, it goes by really fast. From one day to the next you have to jump into a new skin. But this time, it's a little bit different. We don't get judged and we don't get voted off, which is amazing."
Gottlieb, now 21, isn't exactly sure how the new format will play out, but she's hoping not to feel overly responsible for how the contestants fare under her mentorship.
"It's a duet, it's a partnership," she says. "So if something goes wrong -- knock on wood right now -- I would totally feel responsible for it.

"So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe made a stunning announcement on Monday (March 29), outlining the major changes coming to the dance series this season: Not only will there be just 10 finalists chosen in Vegas, but those finalists will be partnered with a new "Sytycd" alum each week of the competition.
Lythgoe promised to reveal which of the show's "all-stars" have signed on to return via Twitter and he wasn't lying.
"I am thrilled that representing the various dance genres of Popping, Locking, Krump etc in the All-Stars Dance-Pool from Season 4 is Twitch," Lythgoe tweeted Tuesday morning.
No surprise there, considering Stephen "tWitch" Boss -- who is starring in the upcoming "Step Up 3D" and "Stomp the Yard 2" films -- was easily one of the most likable and talented contestants ever to grace the "So You Think You Can Dance" stage and was clearly...

It’s no secret the holiday season wreaks havoc on all of our diets! We’re sick of this vicious cycle, so we asked some of the fittest people we know – the dancers from our fave reality shows – how they keep their fabulously toned bodies during the overindulgent holiday season.
We weren’t surprised when pretty much everyone had one answer in common: Dancing, of course!
“Dancing is a great workout and you don’t even realize it while you’re doing it,” raved Dwts‘ ballroom dancer Anna Trebunskaya.
Her hubby, fellow Dwts hoofer Jonathan Roberts, agreed. “Try ballroom! It’s a great way to stay fit and have fun!”

It will be one hair-rising event of "Glee" next week when McKinley High gets into competition with the other Glee Clubs. Now, if this is true, this is going to be a pretty surreal experience for you So You Think You Can Dance fans.
SYTYCDism reports that three of the dancers from Sytycd's fourth season--Katee Shean, Kherington Payne and Comfort Fedoke--will show up in a future episode of Glee. Now that's one for cross-promotion, huh? Nothing's confirmed yet, but the word is they'll be appearing as "juvees" on episode 13, "Sectionals", which airs December 9. Or, as it obviously implies (and as all of us gleeks know), when New Directions competes in sectionals.

While everyone else was interested in the off-stage drama of the un-fianced Maksim and Karina from Dancing with The Stars, the only thing about the Emmy dance routine we cared about was the plethora of So You Think You Can Dance alumni. Backing the Dancing with the Stars (ex)couple were Season 4 alumni Mark Kanemura, Katee Shean, Joshua Allen, Season 3 (and Abdc's) Hok Konishi and Dominic Sandoval, as well as Season 1 and fellow Quest Crew member Ryan Conferido. The routine was even choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance choreographers and occasional guest judges, Tabitha and Napoleon.
And fear not, if you happened to miss the sizzling routine, we've got the video for you.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of chatting with Katee Shean from Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance and star/instructor for the new So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit DVDs.
Katee and I talked about how she became involved in the DVDs, the difference between teaching dancing to a DVD audience rather than dancers, and the surprising work out that left her so sore she was barely moving the next day. She also took the time to tell me about her thoughts on Season Five, returning to So You Think You Can Dance for the 100th episode, and that little thing called an Emmy nomination. ...

Full disclosure: I'm a rabid So You Think You Can Dance fan. Every summer for the past four years the talent on display on this show simply blows every other reality competition out of the water. So much so, that one can even overlook the nagging, hetero-cheerleading presence of producer Nigel Lythgoe on the judging panel.
Nigel's peculiar obsession with the masculinity of male dancers aside, Sytycd raises your standards when it comes to dance. I mean, once you start watching this show it is awfully hard to sit through an episode of Dancing with the Stars.
Sytycd is now in its fifth season, and every year we wonder if they can assemble dancers talented enough to stack up against previous season standouts such as Travis Wall, Danny Tidwell, Neil Haskell, and a host of others.

So You Think You Can Dance struts its stuff back onto Fox this Thursday for its fifth season (with a sixth already in the works), and can we just say, yay! It feels like forever since we last heard a proper Mary Murphy squeal. Brace yourselves for this—season five has taken it to yet another level and is bringing out the best dancers ever. We know that seems impossible after last season (hello, remember Joshua Allen and Katee Shean?). Plus, we've heard it all before on every other reality competition show, but for some reason, we're inclined to believe the folks at Sytycd—probably because it's been proven to be true with each new season. We were lucky enough to catch executive producer-judge...
