Blazing a trail in 1995, Hackers tackled web culture on screen before the internet really took off. The cyber-thriller helped kick-start the career of a major Hollywood A-lister and swiftly became a cult classic thanks to its Hacker Manifesto.
As Hackers celebrates its 20th birthday today (September 15), here's what happened to the six stars who made up the cyber-punk crew.
Angelina Jolie
Hackers handle: Acid Burn
In 1995, Jolie was a fast-rising 20-year-old actress with Cyborg 2 and some big music videos (including Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz and The Lemonheads) on her CV. New York Times critic Janet Maslin was non too plussed about Jolie's performance, saying of her character: "Kate stands out. That's because she scowls even more sourly than [her co-stars] and is that rare female hacker who sits intently at her keyboard in a see-through top."
Now, the 40-year-old is an Oscar-winning superstar with humanitarian work spanning more than a decade and...

We asked some of our writers what their top 5 games of 2014 were, and have since compiled them into five parts. They will be released every two days, with each writers top 5 counting down through successive entries. These are our writers’ top choices.
1) Dark Souls II (Mike Worby)
Following in the footsteps of its divisive forebears, Dark Souls II is an incredibly challenging and endlessly atmospheric action-rpg. Now, with three expansions under its already sizable belt, Dark Souls II is about the most bang a player can expect for their buck for this gaming year, and even though it lacks the power and punch of the original Dark Souls, it has enough new elements and content to easily justify itself. A brutal and beautiful ride, Dark Souls II is an easy pick for my favorite game of the year.
1) The Wolf Among Us (Tariq Ashkanani)

Could January 2015 be the best January ever? January is traditionally the dump month, when last minute Oscar hopefuls gain steam and studios fill multiplex screens with movies they'd prefer not to have on their permanent records. But that's all changing thanks to an overloaded release schedule. Today, if a studio has a good movie, it makes more sense to put it out when someone has time to actually see it then stack on top of industry-approved seasonal dates. A radical practice. Take "Black Sea," a submarine thriller starring Jude Law. Based on the first trailer, it's a claustrophobic ticking clock drama with a little bit of pulp ("How much Nazi gold is in that sub?" "$182 million!") and a lotta bit of Scottish accents. It's not bombastic enough to go toe-to-toe with the "Avengers 2," nor does it have the inherent prestige factor to duke it out with Harvey Weinstein during the October-through-December window.

The New York Film Festival starts today, and with it critics and industry members will get their first look at Gone Girl and Inherent Vice, leaving only a few studio tent poles remaining throughout the fall. They’ll also get a renewed look at Mr. Turner, Foxcatcher, and Birdman, so expect those to be back in the conversation soon.
One of the most interesting barometers for predicting the race is Movie City News’ Gurus ‘O Gold chart, a poll of all the Oscar pundits to determine the top contenders to win. They made their picks before the festivals and now after them, and they’ve got Boyhood perched atop the pedestal with the sight-unseen Unbroken, Interstellar and Gone Girl rounding out the Top 10.
This week however, all the previous week’s ranking contenders are gone from the charts in this slow week between festivals. They’ll be back with a...

Quentin Tarantino, during his Cannes Film Festival press conference (watch it here), mentioned an email chain he was a part of where he and some friends discussed what they believed to be the ten most exciting directors working today. Among those listed he said only David Fincher and Richard Linklater where in everyone's top ten, he wasn't sure why Pedro Almodovar wasn't on everyone's list and he also qualified what he believed it meant for a director to be the "most exciting". Here's how he put it: "I think what that means is, you feel that their best work is still in front of them. That's what makes a filmmaker exciting, that's what makes you anticipate a new movie coming out. Because the new movie could be their best one. From this day on that will be the new barometer from which they're judged. We could be wrong, and their...

Since Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi Robopocalypse is postponed indefinitely, and things moving slowly on the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, Chris Hemsworth has been trying to figure out what to do next and he’s attached to the Warner Bros. adventure In the Heart of the Sea. But let’s go back to the beginning of the story and take a moment to focus on Michael Mann – the filmmaker hasn’t helmed...

Three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood has been designing costumes for some of the most elaborate Hollywood productions for the better part of three decades. Perhaps best known for her singular collaborations with director Tim Burton (another of which, "Dark Shadows," is currently in theaters), she has made her career working with seasoned directors like Jonathan Demme, Michael Mann, Andrew Niccol and Rob Marshall. But for "Snow White and the Huntsman," Atwood found herself working with debut feature director Rupert Sanders on a large-scale endeavor bursting at the seams with design elements. And she came away impressed with the the first-timer's ability...

The model-turned-actor has upped his game since Step Up to work with Touching The Void director Kevin Macdonald. But is Hollywood ready for his dream project as an addict?
Film legend Joan Crawford once remarked that "Hollywood is like life, you face it with the sum total of your equipment." A very quick Google search for actor Channing Tatum (and countless have before me), reveals his Hollywood equipment to be an aesthetically pleasing arsenal of pouting, topless shots; a thin, white shirt flapping in a mysteriously ever-present breeze, revealing a six-pack that rivals Brad Pitt in his Thelma & Louise physical heyday. A model for Abercrombie & Fitch in his pre-movie star days, it's easy to see why the world would want to pin him down like a big-armed butterfly, to insist his sole life equipment remain that of a male Megan Fox. Tatum, however, has other plans. "Well, I hate saying I have a plan,...

Get your swords and sandals ready – there’s a legion of historical epic movies on the way. Here’s Ti’s round-up…
Since Ridley Scott resurrected the swords and sandals genre with Gladiator in 2000, the historical epic has grown more and more popular. With massive budgets, thousands of extras and battle scenes that try to top each other year after year, the historical epic has become a regular feature in cinemas over the last ten decade, with Troy, Kingdom Of Heaven, Alexander, Robin Hood, Mongol, 300, King Arthur, The Last Legion, Pathfinder, Beowulf, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and Clash Of The Titans all vying for our attention.
This year is no different, and with Michael Mann rumoured to be directing an adaptation of Bernard Cornwall's account of the Battle of Agincourt, Sharpe, it looks set to continue. We've already seen the likes of Robin Hood, Solomon Kane, Centurion, Clash Of The Titans,...

Ever since being cast in the lead role in Avatar Sam Worthington's name has been the source of entertainment news. At first it was monthly, then weekly and now you can hardly go a day without a Sam Worthington casting rumor, which is almost guaranteed to be followed up by a casting confirmation.
Following his Avatar casting he moved into a supporting role in Terminator Salvation followed by the lead role in the Clash of the Titans remake. At one point he replaced Tom Cruise in The Tourist opposite Charlize Theron only to drop out and be replaced by Johnny Depp (not bad company there). He's said to be starring in the remake of the Danish thriller, The Candidate at Summit Entertainment, he's signed on to play the lead role in Alex Proyas's Dracula Year Zero and today it was announced he'll star in the New York detective...

Check out our gallery of 20 Tarantino movie and movie poster faves, our look at the original 1978 Inglorious Bastards, our guide to the film-geek references in Tarantino's Basterds, and our Quentin Tarantino final exam. Imagining Hollywood -- and the world beyond it -- without Quentin Tarantino No one divides moviegoers like Quentin Tarantino. Those who are in his corner love his infectious cineaste enthusiasm, his references to obscure B-movies, and his pop culture-drenched, rat-a-tat-tat dialogue. The haters find his movies too long, too talky, and too ... well, just too much of everything. But just for a second, try to imagine Hollywood without him. It's harder than you think. Ever since the video store clerk-turned-world famous auteur unveiled 1992's Reservoir Dogs, his influence has rippled out and...
