Giant Drag
- Soundtrack
Giant Drag is an American indie rock duo from Los Angeles, California formed in 2003 by singer and guitarist, Annie Hardy, and drummer and keyboardist, Micah Calabrese.
The pair considered hiring a bassist to join the group, but Calabrese began performing bass using a synthesizer with one hand while drumming with the other. While the decision to perform dual roles limited his drumming performance, it soon became a stylistic element of the band's sound.
Giant Drag issued their first EP, "Lemona", in 2004 via Wichita Recordings while their debut album, "Hearts and Unicorns", was released the following year through Kickball Records (a subsidiary of Interscope). After issuing the single "This Isn't It" in 2006, Interscope dropped the band from their label. Undeterred, they went on to release their second EP, Swan Song, in 2009. Shortly after, Calabrese chose to leave the project, while Hardy continued to record material for their second album, "Waking Up Is Hard to Do", which was self-released in 2013 through their own label, Full Psycho Records.
In 2020, Annie revealed she had written and recorded a third Giant Drag album with former Klaxons singer, Jamie Reynolds, in London. To date, Hardy continues to release new Giant Drag music via the group's official Bandcamp page.
