Few country songs have had the success of Lady A’s classic 2009 hit “Need You Now.” The song was a massive hit at its time, peaking at number-two on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming one of the most digitally downloaded songs ever. Its success translated into four Grammy wins, including Record and Song of the Year. However, no other country song has won the top categories since, despite hits like Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road,” and Dan and Shay’s “Tequila” being nearly as successful in recent years. What made “Need You Now” beat the odds for its win, and when can we expect another country song to take top honors?
First things first, we need to look at country’s history in Record and Song of the Year. Five country songs...

In the spring of 2017, Hayley Williams moved into the first home where she’d ever lived alone. Earlier that year, she had finished recording After Laughter, her fifth album with Paramore, and broken up with her longtime partner, New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. “Half of me was very drawn to the romanticism of this artist who has had success but now is living in this small cottage by herself, and there’s these huge fucking spiders and bats,” Williams says, laughing over tea at the Bowery Hotel in New York.

Dancing With the Stars' Trio Night was full-on fun!
With special appearances from past winners, like reigning mirrorball champion Rashad Jennings and season one winner Kelly Monaco, there was a tremendous amount of talent in the ballroom during week eight of the dance competition show.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one dancing duo -- Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke -- before the five other couples were announced that they'd be advancing to next week's semi-finals.
Now, Et's breaking down all the memorable choreography moments from last night's performances!

Victoria Arlen's Dancing With the Stars journey hit a painful bump in the road when she found herself in agony hours before the live show.
During dress rehearsal for Monday's quarterfinals, Arlen and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, were practicing their Argentine tango when the former Paralympic athlete suffered a painful spasm in her ribs.
"A spasm is just, like, the worst pain known to man. It's like an extreme form of paralysis," Arlen told the DWTS cameras in a behind-the-scenes look at the frightening incident, which aired before the couple took the stage.
The pain and fear were particularly potent for Arlen, whose participation in this season of the reality dancing competition is nothing short of a miracle.

Twentieth Century Fox rediscovered the sizzle that's been missing from the annual CinemaCon convention on Thursday , kicking off the company's presentation with a samba-tinged rap performance from “Rio 2” featuring Ester Dean, B.o.B and lots of showgirls before launching into a summer slate filled with big-budget sequels to its “X-Men” and “Planet of the Apes” franchises. Lawson's Andy Brown has said that he would love to be a coach on The Voice UK.
Since Jessie J announced that she would be leaving the show, a number of performers have been linked to the programme, such as Paloma Faith and Rita Ora.
Brown has now told the Daily Star: "I think it's a brilliant show.
"Not only do I watch The Voice but I obviously have an interest in that sort of thing, because I've been singing, writing songs and playing guitar since I was a kid."
He added: "Anything I can do to help up-and-coming musicians is great. If I was approached I'd love it."
Lawson are set for a Top 5 single this weekend with 'Brokenhearted' ft B.o.B., and will be performing at T in the Park today (July 13)
The Liverpudlian said: "Festivals aren't a typical Lawson audience so it's a great opportunity to make new fans.

Frank Ocean's album may currently be the most buzzed about disc in music, but Target isn't interested. Billboard reports the discount retail giant announced it will not sell Channel Orange, claiming the decision was a reaction to iTunes' one-week exclusive. Many are wondering, however, if the move was actually inspired by the fact that Ocean recently came out.
Ocean's first studio album hit iTunes after the R&B singer's surprise appearance on Tuesday's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," a full week before previously planned. Of course, this meant that brick and mortar retailers would lose out on that first week's sales.
The brand has a complicated history with the Lgbt community. Target first faced a strong backlash after donating $150,000 to Mn Forward, a group that was backing Tom Emmer's gubernatorial bid in Minnesota. Emmer was known for being especially conservative and not supporting equal rights for Lgbt citizens. At the time,...

We love the internet. For all the trolls (and other, way scarier things) out there on this series of tubes we call the interwebs, there are things like this guy's TV theme song medley, the Charlie Bit Me kid or the dramatic prairie dog.

Even if you haven't heard Jessie J's infectious, bouncy summer jam "Price Tag," you are probably familiar with some of her songs. "Party in the U.S.A."? Yeah, she co-wrote the Miley Cyrus hit. And, of course, Jessie J is the house artist for this year's VMAs, the capper to a year that saw her finally release her long-gestating debut, Who You Are, which included a tune she originally wrote for Rihanna, the raunchy "Do It Like a Dude."

Predictable they were not, and this year's Grammys were actually more reminiscent of a live variety show than an awards presentation. With only ten statues presented during the show's entire three and a half hour run, (the first hour yielded only one, which went to Train for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group), the show's format has morphed into what some would call a televised concert of live performances and tributes, with an award or two thrown in for posterity. Truth be told, only a handful of top honors were announced on air, with the vast majority of winners revealed prior to the show's live broadcast. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards (TV) opened with a tribute to Aretha Franklin, who watched from home due to recent health issues. The homage to the Queen of Soul featured Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams, and Martina McBride performing...

Welcome to the 53rd Grammy Awards, which will be featuring appearances and performances from some of the biggest names in music. Those names include Eminem (who leads all nominees and who could make history this evening), Lady Gaga (fresh off the premiere of her new single "Born This Way"), Rihanna, Drake, Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green, Justin Bieber (who is currently in a knock-down, drag-out box office battle with Adam Sandler's "Just Go With It" for the coveted first place spot), Muse, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and Bob Dylan (just for good measure). It promises to be an eventful, historic night, and the MTV Newsroom Blog is going to be right on top of all the most outstanding performances, biggest awards upsets and most incredible Grammy moments. The show always features a number of surprises (both scheduled and not), so it should be a fantastically entertaining three-and-a-half hours.

The Grammys are on tonight, which gives us all another chance to realize that when it comes to certain genres of music the Academy of Recording Sciences has no credibility anymore. However, I will grant that Ke$ha managed to have one of the best selling albums of the year (Why?!?) and did not receive any Grammy nominations so there's a slim chance someone is paying attention. Not the programming director, though, who decided to schedule the divine Janelle Monáe to perform on stage with Bruno Mars and B.o.B. (tangentially: that individual's name always makes me think of Outkat's "B.O.B" and then I get excited and then super disappointed in a split second. That kind of emotional whiplash is good for no one.) I'll be watching, though I can't promise I'll be in a good mood about it. Here's your Sunday night TV:

It’s that time of year again. The VMAs are about to be unleashed upon us and I will be here to document the craziness live all night. Official start time will be 9:00/8:00c p.m. so be here and be ready. Will Kanye West do something outrageous again? Will Justin Bieber induce some poor girl’s heart attack? What in God’s name will Lady Gaga be wearing and how many outfits will it take to get the ultimate gasp from us all? What will Chelsea Handler do? And what will I have to say about it? All these questions will be answered and more so stick around for all the fun!
7:58 – Lady Gaga not only rules. She owns. That is all…
7:59 – Just learned that Kanye will close with a new song…
8:00 – We open with Eminem in a basement…
8:02 – Nope. It’s the stage.
