Connor Ratliff spent the last 20 years trying to figure out why Tom Hanks fired him from a small role on HBO’s Band of Brothers.
His podcast Dead Eyes documents this journey and Ratliff has finally found his white whale – Hanks is coming on his podcast for the season three finale.
Ratliff, who is currently starring in Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has produced 30 episodes of the audio series, which is based around the suggestion that the Forrest Gump star said that he had “dead eyes” and replaced him with another actor at the last minute.
The show has featured conversations with the likes of Rian Johnson, Seth Rogen, Jon Hamm, D’Arcy Carden, Aparna Nancherla, Judd Apatow and Colin Hanks but now it has reached its peak guest in Hanks.

The future of CollegeHumor, the pioneering comedy website that rose to prominence before the rise of YouTube, was thrown into question Wednesday after the brand’s sale resulted in more than 100 layoffs.
InterActive Corp., the New York company that owned CollegeHumor parent Ch Media, sold its brands to CollegeHumor’s chief creative officer Sam Reich. Terms of the deal were undisclosed but Deadline reported that “all but a handful” of employees were notified of their layoffs Wednesday.
Reich, who joined CollegeHumor in 2006 was not available for comment, but shared the news on Twitter and said he aimed to continue operating the leading CollegeHumor brands, including Dropout, its comedy Svod streaming service. “I hope to be able to save Dropout, CollegeHumor, Drawfee, Dorkly, and many of our shows,” Reich said on Twitter. “Some will need to take on bold new creative directions in order to survive. You may not agree with all of them.

For more than two years, Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld have worked on a TV pilot adapted from their hit CollegeHumor web series, Jake and Amir. Now, the comedy duo has revealed that their pilot will not go forward to series, and as a result, a return to the web is in the cards for them.
Hurwitz and Blumenfeld discussed the status of their pilot in the 189th episode of their podcast, If I Were You. They confirmed that they would not come to TV--at least not yet--but they pledged to continue their creative partnership. “TV still exists. The Internet still exists,” said Blumenfeld during the podcast. “We can create stuff that doesn't have to be Jake and Amir, it can be something else. It can be something entirely new, something exciting, something that builds upon what we've known and learned.”

For nearly eight years and 750 episodes, Jake and Amir told the story of two friends who come up with new, amusing ways to bother each other and everyone else around them. Now, Jake and Amir has come to an end. CollegeHumor posted the final episode of Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld's web series on April 7th, 2015.
In the final episode, the titular duo gets fired from CollegeHumor after unleashing a vulgar film on the world. As they pack up their desks, they look back at one of their first videos, contemplate what to do next, and offer their thanks to the team that helped their web series roll up millions of views.

The comedy duo who created and star in CollegeHumor's longest-running series stopped by ETonline to talk ending the series, chicken nuggets, facial hair, and what’s coming next.
"Eight years seems good because it's like high school and college all rolled into one," Amir told ETonline of ending the series. Five years ago, making a web series to get on traditional television was a fool's game. The few web series producers to secure development deals with networks -- from "We Need Girlfriends," "Quarterlife," "Private High School" and "The College Humor Show" -- either never made it to air or didn't last long when they did. But today many more web series have been optioned for TV and made it onto television. Some have even been successful, making it to a second season -- like Comedy Central series "Broad City," which was renewed last night. More series could be coming soon. In the past year hardworking producers like Issa Rae, Ray William Johnson, Benny and Rafi Fine, Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenefeld and have all signed development deals. Now that web production is an established route on the long, hard path to a television series, it's...

CollegeHumor's odd couple is taking a crack at TV. Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld, who star in the massively successful web series Jake and Amir, are adapting their brainchild for TV with an assist from Ed Helms. Hurwitz and Blumenfeld, who both write for CollegeHumor, will pen and star in the series, with CollegeHumor and The Daily Show/The Office/The Hangover funnyman Helms producing. As in their web series, the two leads will play coworkers and best friends who must work together to successfully navigate their crazy workplace. CollegeHumor has released new episodes of Jake and Amir regularly since 2007, making it one of the longest-running scripted series on the web. The duo's shtick, which depicts Jake as a straight man and Amir as his slightly unhinged coworker, has proven quite durable. New episodes regularly draw hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and many more on the CollegeHumor website.

Well, the cat's out of the bag. Comedian Sarah Colonna tweeted a photo of the cover of Variety's 2012's "10 Comics To Watch" ahead of its publication date.
As you can see in Colonna's photo below, the list, compiled annually by the entertainment publication, includes she and fellow comedians Jillian Bell, Kurt Braunohler, Rob Delaney, Lil' Rel Howery, Jake Hurwitz & Amir Blumenfeld of College Humor, Moshe Kasher, Joe Mande, Rory Scovel and Jessica Williams.
We'll have to wait until the end of the month to read why Variety chose the ten comedians, some up-and-coming and some already way on their way.
For example, Delaney is already a household name on Twitter, having been crowned the funniest person on the social network at the 2012 Comedy Awards. If you’ve been meaning to add Reddit to the list of sites you compulsively visit while you should be doing something other than compulsively visiting websites, but for whatever reason you haven’t been able navigate past the homepage despite that article Farhad Manjoo wrote for Slate proclaiming the site to be the “web’s unstoppable force” because the site's design is kinda evocative of a command prompt screen updated for the internet age and you’re not technically-inclined, then you should definitely check out Reddit’s recent Q&A with Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenefeld. It’s just the impetus you need to subscribe to Reddit's daily feed. It’s also technically not a Q&A, but an IAma, which is Redditspeak for a dedicated post in which a celebrity or otherwise well-known individual (e.g. Louis C.K., Anthony Weiner, Bear Grylls, etc.) or kind/class of individual (e.

CollegeHumor has been a staple for their original comedy videos from nitpicking every single element of the undergraduate experience to parodying films like Inception to launching the career of Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld. They are about to step up their game to a whole other level, La Times reports.
The company is financing their first-ever feature film, already set to shoot next month. Titled Coffee Town, with a script from Arrested Development writer/producer Brad Copeland (who will direct), the comedy follows “thirtysomething underachievers” and already has quite the ensemble lined up. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton will lead, along with Eastbound & Down’s Steve Little, Parks & Recreations‘ Ben Schwartz and musician Josh Groban, who last appeared in Crazy, Stupid, Love.
The “absurdist comedy” is described as “a little like Cheers” as the story centers on “Will, a website manager (Howerton), and his friends who...

Last night on CollegeHumor's Live Cast Hardly Working's Jake and Amir announced a new show: Jake and Amir: Fired. Three thousand fans tuned into the live stream to ask questions about the new online special and upcoming DVD release. This is CollegeHumor's first (independent) foray into long-form content. Fired will be distributed through Facebook (and can be purchased with Facebook credits) as well as CollegeHumor.com. The DVD, distributed through Bustedtees and Amazon, will feature bonus footage including a short and behind-the-scenes clips. The 30-minute special was produced entirely in house at CollegHumor. In the story, CollegeHumor's CEO Alan Avery (played by Matt Walton) makes Jake an offer he doesn't refuse: fire Amir and get a promotion. But without Amir, life just isn't quite as good for ol' Jake, and the duo hatches a plan to get Amir his job back—hilarity ensues. "Fired is very much an extension...

New York comedian Catie Lazarus has more than dabbled in web series before, popping up as a Barely Political correspondent or as a reverse -therapist and host of YourTango’s On The Couch with Catie Lazarus. But now we get a peek into the devilishly candid and inventive mind of the young performer with her first original series, The On Time Show with Petunia Van De Twirp. With a setup somehwere close to the Late Night show for the Toy Story gang, puppet host Petunia is the Conan of the stuffed animal kingdom. Voiced (and written) by Lazarus, Petunia’s opening monologue breezes through self-deprecating one-liners cutting quickly over to a very real crank call segment with everything from Virgin Atlantic to Best Buy and Budget Rental Car. There’s a silent film bit after that—Petunia’s somewhat racy run-in with her bedroom beau Senator Bear—followed by a...

Today marks the launch of Mr. Vicarious, a new reality comedy web series emerging from the recently announced partnership between CollegeHumor and PepsiCo’s SoBe. “SoBe Studios,” as the new enterprise is called, is a content factory that will produce a steady stream of brand-relevant videos for distribution across multiple media platforms, including TV and the web. CollegeHumor CEO Ricky Van Veen announced the partnership at yesterday’s Mashable Media Summit, along with the launch of the three part series premiering today. Sort of a snack-sized reality version of Cyrano de Bergerac (or Roxanne for you Steve Martin Fans), Mr. Vicarious features comedians Nick Kroll and Paul Scheer (host of this year’s Streamy Awards), who use radios to whisper dialogue into the concealed earpieces of actors pranking attendees at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. At 23, Jake Hurwitz is already a web comedy veteran. As one half of College Humor's long running Jake and Amir series, Hurwitz has found himself at the center of a New York comedy powerhouse and starring himself in a slew of Ch originals including Hardly Working and its TV adaptation—MTV's The CollegeHumor Show. This summer, he was even tapped to host the second season of MySpace's game show Bff, which despite some questionable view counts, managed to work out to a pretty nice deal for Hurwitz in his first series outside the vaunted walls of College Humor. We caught up with the Connecticut native-turned-Brooklyn-local Hurwitz for a little tell all into just what it means to be a successful young comedy writer coming of age on the internet. That, and what to make if this Bff series. Tubefilter: How do you describe Bff if you’re trying to tell...

I'll be honest, I didn't even know the first season of Bff had ended already, but apparently it did. It's one of the few online game shows (why aren't there more?) and it returns this week with new host Jake Hurwitz. Hurwitz is a familiar face to web series fans, as half of the Streamy-nominated comedy duo Jake & Amir from CollegeHumor.com, which was picked up by MTV and developed as The CollegeHumor Show. It's a bit of a shame to see the typically absurd Hurwitz stripped of any real comedy purpose and thrown into what is pretty squarely a young, fashion-loving women's chit-chat. Really, they make no qualms about who this show is going after and lead sponsors Always and Ortho Women’s Health & Urology probably want them to play it safe.
