The erratic Leprechaun franchise is not known for sticking with a single concept for too long. The namesake (originally played by Warwick Davis) has gone to L.A., Las Vegas, space, and the ‘hood (not once but twice). And after an eleven-year holiday since the Davis era ended, the character received a drastic makeover in a now-unmentionable reboot. The critical failure of said film would have implied it was time to pack away the green top hat and shillelagh, and say goodbye to the nefarious imp. Instead, the Leprechaun series tried its luck again.
The general consensus for the Leprechaun films was never positive, and the darker yet blander Leprechaun: Origins certainly did not sway opinions. Just because the 2014 installment took itself seriously did not mean viewers would. After all, creator Mark Jones conceived a gruesome horror-comedy back in the early nineties, and that format is what was expected of any future ventures.

Tyler Perry has formalized a new creative partnership with Netflix to write, direct and produce feature films under a multi-year, first-look deal.
Perry already has five films under his belt at the streamer: “A Fall From Grace,” “A Madea Homecoming,” the period drama “A Jazzman’s Blues”, the upcoming World War II-set drama “Six Triple Eight” and the thriller “Mea Culpa.”
WME CEO Ari Emanuel teased the new pact at Bloomberg Media’s Screentime conference on Oct. 11. During the talk, Emanuel revealed that he’d just closed deals at Netflix for David Ellison and Perry. Pressed about the partnership in his own Screentime conversation, Perry played coy.
“He talks too much,” Perry joked, noting that the deal hadn’t been announced yet. “I’ll wait for them to announce it. But yeah, Netflix has been an incredible partner to work with, and so is Amazon. It’s been really, really, really incredible,...

Seth Rogen has spoken out about his experience as part of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Toronto Film Festival-bound The Fabelmans.
The actor shares in an upcoming edition of The Process that he wrapped his role in the film, loosely based on the iconic filmmaker’s childhood and upbringing, toward the end of last year. “It was really cool. It was fascinating. It was a really surreal experience for everyone involved,” Rogen said of the film, which has him playing a character inspired by Spielberg’s uncle. “It premieres at Toronto. I’ve literally not seen one frame of it, so it’ll be a bizarre experience.”
In conversation with Pam & Tommy editor Tatiana S. Riegel for Deadline’s video series, Rogen also addressed his “immense” relief in seeing Lily James excel in her transformational turn as the Hulu series’ Pamela Anderson.

“There was a huge sense of wanting to do this real person justice and tell their story honestly, and with great empathy and protecting them,” Pam & Tommy’s Lily James said about playing Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s multi-Emmy-nominated miniseries.
“This felt so personal and became really universal beyond this story that just happened to Pamela, and became about really looking at how we treat women,” she added of the professional and private blows the Baywatch star suffered from a stolen sex tape that lit up the internet in its near infancy.

Movies and TV shows about real, living people always have a difficult needle to thread. Creators need to maintain their artistic integrity while remembering that their work can have consequences for people in the real world. Those stakes are even higher when the story being told is one about people having their privacy violated by the media.
That’s exactly what Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy” had to deal with when it told the story of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee having to watch their illegally distributed sex tape become a cultural phenomenon.
The show was represented at IndieWire’s Consider This FYC Brunch, with executive producer, writer, and co-showrunner D.V. DeVincentis and costumer designer Kameron Lennox joining IndieWire’s Awards Editor Marcus Jones for a wide-ranging discussion about the hit show.
Of course, attention had to turn to that infamous talking, animatronic penis. Why so verbose?

The ABC dramas “Queens” and “Promised Land” have both been canceled after one season at ABC.
“Queens” concluded its season on the broadcaster back in February. The series followed four women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had in the ‘90s when they were legends in the hip-hop world.
Eve originally starred in the series as Brianna (aka Professor Sex), but she bowed out of the show midway through the season to go on maternity leave. It also starred Naturi Naughton as Jill aka Da Thrill, Nadine Velazquez as Valeria aka Butter Pecan, Taylor Sele as Eric Jones, Pepi Sonuga as Lil Muffin, and Brandy as Naomi aka Xplicit Lyrics.
Zahir McGhee wrote “Queens” and served as an executive producer. Tim Story executive produced and directed the pilot. Sabrina Wind also executive produced. Swizz Beatz served as executive music producer.

One of the best parts about tuning in to ABC's Queens is witnessing rapper Eve return to her roots. After all, the musical drama series follows a legendary female hip-hop group (aka the Nasty B*tches) trying to reclaim their throne. However, following the exciting news that Eve and her husband, Maximillion Cooper, are expecting their first child in February, Queens fans are wondering about the rapper's future on the show. According to Deadline, Eve filmed several scenes before taking maternity leave, allowing her to appear in most of season one, which premiered in October 2021.
As for her character Brianna's storyline, there will be an open-exit, making a return seamless and possible if Queens gets picked up for a second season. In the midseason finale on Dec. 12, we learn that Brianna is in critical condition after being shot by a masked gunman, who's later revealed as Jill's (Naturi Naughton) ex-husband,...

The legend of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s sex tape gets the limited series and critical reassessment treatment in the new trailer for Pam and Tommy, set to premiere Feb. 2 on Hulu.
The new trailer — which aptly opens with a shot of a small camcorder, although this time it’s just recording a deposition — offers a succinct overview of the story: A disgruntled electrician (played by Seth Rogen) steals a safe from Lee and Anderson’s home, cracks it open and finds the illicit tape, which he then starts...

Spoiler Alert: The forthcoming story reveals major plot points from tonight’s episode of ABC’s Queens.
ABC’s Queens revealed Brianna’s (Eve) fate in Tuesday night’s episode titled “Bars,” but fans had to wait up until the very last moment to see that she not only survived but she is thriving.
To recap the events that led to Brianna’s life hanging in the balance, Jill’s (Naturi Naughton) ex-husband Darren (Emerson Brooks)) shot Brianna and Eric (Taylor Selé) leaving them for dead. Both beat the odds and while Eric attempted to re-enter the world a better man and father, Brianna used the near-death experience as a sign to make an exit.
With the help of her friends Jill, Eric, Naomi (Brandy Norwood), Valeria (Nadie Velazquez), and Lil Muffin (Pepi Sonuga), Brianna faked her death. In the final moments of episode 109, Brianna is shown in paradise. She...

Lily James nearly broke the internet when first-look photos of her as Pamela Anderson in the Hulu limited series “Pam & Tommy” debuted online in May 2021. Directed by “I, Tonya” filmmaker Craig Gillespie and written by “The Wrestler” scribe Rob Siegel, “Pam & Tommy” re-contextualizes the scandal that broke out after Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson’s sex tape was stolen. Sebastian Stan stars Lee, but it’s James’ unrecognizable transformation into Anderson that has everyone talking so far. With the release of the series’ first tailer, don’t expect those conversations to slow down.
“In some ways, it’s very similar to ‘I, Tonya’ with the surprise of it,” Gillespie recently told Collider about the project. “There’s the victimization of the media and what happened with that tape that was such an affront to them, and how it really ultimately severely damaged their personal life and her career.

Hulu has debuted a teaser trailer for the anticipated original limited story on Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, ‘Pam & Tommy.’
The ‘Baywatch’ star and the Mötley Crüe drummer’s relationship dominated the tabloids for years, including the scandal when their sex tape from their honeymoon was stolen and leaked to the public. It’s this part of their history that will be the foundation of the series.
The eight-episode series will have also have a big focus on their relationship going back to the whirlwind romance that started with them marrying after only knowing each other for 96 hours in 1995.
The leaked VHS tape turned into quite a legal dispute, with Anderson suing the video distribution company Internet Entertainment Group. Ultimately, the Lees entered into a confidential settlement deal with Ieg. Thereafter, the company began making the tape available to its websites again, resulting in triple the normal traffic.

One of the fall's best new shows will feature less of one of its most prominent stars.
Per Deadline, Eve will be missing from several episodes of Queen Season 1.
"Can you believe it @mrgumball3000 we finally get to tell everyone!!!!! ❤️ You all know how long we’v been waiting for this blessing!!! We get to meet our lil human February 2022," the rapper shared last month on social media.
The good news is that Brianna (Eve's character) will be getting an open-ended exited, which means she can return to the show down the line if it gets a second season order at ABC.
Eve resides in the UK and has been commuting to Atlanta to film the music-tinged drama.
Queens has not broken out in the ratings, attracting an average of 1.5 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in live + same day ratings.
But the TV industry no longer only looks at those numbers.

The music video that opens ABC’s new drama “Queens” lays it on thick. Each member of the Nasty Girls — Naomi, aka Xplicit Lyrics (Brandy); Valeria, aka Butter Pecan (Nadine Velazquez); Jill, aka Da Thrill (Naturi Naughton); and Brianna, aka Professor Sex (Eve) — struts out of a burning mansion, across the bow of a luxurious yacht, and through a chorus line of half-nude dancers without missing a step. Directed by Tim Story, whose ’90s résumé boasts videos for Tyrese, ’N Sync and Ginuwine, the video for “Nasty Girl” knows what it has to do to evoke memories of the specific window in hip-hop history it’s trying to capture.
In a key difference from Peacock’s superficially similar comedy “Girls5eva,” the track “Queens” introduces here isn’t parodying its respective genre. Each of the women’s rap verses is sharp and distinct, making clear their talent as both individuals and a swaggering collective.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan shared a new image related to his upcoming part in Hulu’s limited series Pam & Tommy. In it Stan, who plays Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee opposite James’ Pamela Anderson, poses in character wearing just shorts, shoes and an apron emblazoned with the words “Kiss the Cook,” with the hashtag “Sunday” appended.
The photo is similar to many shirtless, in character poses the actor has posted in recent weeks, but his one seemed a bit more appropriate to a BBQ-filled holiday weekend.

The post was liked by co-star Seth Rogen as well as Drake Doremus — who directed Stan in Endings — Beginnings and producer Simon Kinberg.
Hulu previously released several photos of Stan and co-star Lily James that recalled famous images of Lee and Anderson. You can see those here.

The pandemic forced broadcast executives to think outside the traditional broadcast pilot model and rely more heavily on straight-to-series orders, often based on additional scripts, sometimes delivered through the opening of a writers room.
Check out Deadline’s gallery of new 2021-22 shows. Those picked up straight-to-series that have not produced a pilot and have no episodic art available, are represented by their top talent on or behind the camera.

After the success of The Bachelorette, delayed by the pandemic, as a Tuesday 8 Pm anchor last fall, the ABC reality series will be back in the time slot this coming fall with the second of two 2021 cycles. Among the few changes on the ABC schedule from last fall is the move of breakout freshman drama Big Sky to the network’s high-flying Thursday lineup. There, it will succeed canceled Rebel in the 10 p.m. hour, following ABC’s highest-rated scripted series Grey’s Anatomy, which again has spinoff Station 19 as a lead-in.
