Eight piece rock and rollers The Revivalists have returned with a brand new album “Pour It Out Into The Night”, along with the stellar new single “Kid” via Concord Records. “Pour It Out Into The Night ” is a life-affirming album. Offering an unburdening and an appreciation for living in the moment, the new music was fueled by lessons in gratitude and life realizations that came from personal experiences over the past few years as the world came to a standstill.
As band members became fathers for the first time, got married, and navigated the challenges of lockdown, the things that truly matter in life came into sharp focus, and they brought that clarity of perspective into the creative process. This is the band’s fifth studio album and their most self-guided one yet, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Rich Costey [Muse, Foster the People, Death Cab for Cutie] with co-production from David,...

Frank Turner envisions the first concerts after Covid-19 lockdown on his new song, “The Gathering,” featuring Jason Isbell and Muse drummer Dom Howard.
Considering its subject matter, “The Gathering” is appropriately arena-sized from the start as Turner bellows over booming drums and towering glam rock riffs: “The first time that the beat drops in the bar, it’s going to be biblical!/The second that the singalong starts, it’ll be sensational!” The track (which was produced by Rich Costey) ends with Isbell unleashing the mightiest guitar solo he can muster.

Death Cab for Cutie pay tribute to three children who died 20 years ago in a freak explosion on “Kids in ’99,” a sweet and somber song off their upcoming release, The Blue Ep, out September 6th.
On June 10th, 1999, a gas pipeline operated by the Olympic Pipeline Company exploded in Bellingham, Washington’s Whatcom Falls Park, injuring eight people and killing three children, aged 10 to 18, who were fishing and playing in the area. Frontman Ben Gibbard describes the scene over a rolling drumbeat and textural guitar, gingerly singing, “Gone, gone” in...

Bay area grunge-pop band Swmrs will follow-up their 2016 debut album Drive North with the forthcoming Berkeley’s On Fire. They announced the new LP with the single “April in Houston.”
“April in Houston” is a more mature, world-wearied song from the band. Singer Cole Becker claims “everybody’s wants to get me high” on the song’s simple, catchy chorus. In the video, Becker drags a chair — that had been thrown out a window — through the streets of a city. At points, he sits on the chair and looks confusedly...

Muse performed a rattling version of “Pressure,” a track from their recently issued Simulation Theory LP, on Tuesday’s Tonight Show. Frontman Matthew Bellamy belted in his signature theatrical vibrato over a psych-blues guitar riff, moaning brass, Dominic Howard’s tumbling toms and bassist Chris Wolstenholme’s eerie whispers.
The prog-rock band explored more Eighties and electronic influences on Simulation Theory, their eighth album, which also includes the previously released tracks “Dig Down,” “Thought Contagion,” “Something Human” and “The Dark Side.” The group issued a quirky video for “Pressure” co-starring...

Muse speed through an intergalactic universe in the new video for their latest song, “The Dark Side.” The track will appear on the group’s upcoming album, Simulation Theory, out November 9th via Warner Bros. Records.
“The Dark Side” finds Muse crafting another sleek, stadium-sized rock song, with singer Matt Bellamy’s vocals rising over a propulsive drum beat, a sinuous guitar riff and flares of vibrant synths.
The Lance Drake-directed video for “The Dark Side” seems to pick up where the clip for “Something Human” left off. In the video,...

After making it through the rough time that surrounded Death Cab for Cutie’s last record, Kintsugi – made after frontman Ben Gibbard’s divorce and just before the departure of founding member Chris Walla – the band sounds rejuvenated on Thank You for Today. They’ve added two new members, guitarist Dave Depper and keyboardist Zac Rae, to their lineup and they allowed themselves to take some risks like indulging pop production techniques on the record, which they made with Kintsugi producer Rich Costey.

Death Cab for Cutie unveiled a gauzy new torch song, “I Dreamt We Spoke Again,” from their upcoming album Thank You for Today, out August 17th via Atlantic.
The track is built around shuffling drums, an undulating guitar line and somber synth strokes that warble beneath Ben Gibbard’s soft, longing croon. “I dreamt we spoke again,” he sings, “It’d been so long/ My mind filled in the blanks/ I dreamt we spoke again/ It’d been so long/ Your voice was like a ghost.”

His last concert with the group will take place at Victoria, BC's Rifflandia Festival on September 13. You can find the full text of Walla's statement below, and further down a response from his Death Cab bandmates Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer and Jason McGerr: "Short version: I’m leaving Death Cab for Cutie. My last show with the band will be September 13, 2014, at the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, BC. I hope you guys can make it. Longer version: I think I long for the unknown. It might be that simple. I will miss being a quarter of this band, and will support whatever course Death Cab for Cutie chooses from here. I am profoundly grateful to Ben,...

It has been a long eight years since the release of a Jane’s Addiction studio album. Well knowing these guys, the wait is probably well worth it. The iconic trio, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, are set to release their newest album, “The Great Escape Artist”, late this summer via Capitol Records. Jane’s Addiction reached out to Rich Costey to produce the new record and also brought TV on the Radio’s, Dave Sitek, into the album’s creative team. Rockers Jane's Addiction have teamed up with a group of Moroccan world musicians for an exotic new track. Singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins have recorded "End to the Lies" with the legendary The Master Musicians of Joujouka.
The 14 village musicians hail from the Ahl Srif mountain range of the southern Rif Mountains in northern Morocco, they are Sufi trance artists who use reed, pipe and percussion to create drones and complex rhythms. Late The Rolling Stones star Brian Jones recorded them in 1968 for his album "Brian Jones Presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka".
Farrell says, "We wanted to add a sense of ancient ritual and some depth beyond normal instrumentation, getting off the typical path that rock bands use." The band took producer Rich Costey and temporary bassist Dave Sitek to Joujouka to record the sounds.
He adds, "It was all recorded in the...

Dave Sitek is working with Jane's Addiction on their new album. The producer and multi instrumentalist, a member of TV on the Radio, has replaced former Guns N' Roses member Duff McKagan as bassist, and is also thought to be helping the band write songs for their as-yet-untitled new album.
Frontman Perry Farrell said in a statement he and his band mates, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Steve Perkins, are "fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."
Although Dave has produced records for groups including his own, Foals and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the album will be helmed by Rich Costey, who has previously worked with Muse and Glasvegas. The album will be the group's first since "Strays" in 2003.
Jane's Addiction were hit with the departure of the group's founding bassist Eric Avery, who dramatically quit in March.

Founding bassist Eric Avery, who has come and gone before, left the band last year. Duff McKagan joined briefly, but only lasted six months and left in September.
