Fans didn’t see NCIS stars like Mark Harmon on too many projects besides his hit show. Even Harmon, who’d done a few movies in the past, did far fewer films while on NCIS. This actor explained why this was the case.

A few NCIS stars already know what it’s like to do feature films. However, the long-running procedural might be the project they’re all mostly known for. Whereas it wasn’t uncommon for actors on TV to make movies, the NCIS crew mainly devoted time to the show. Pauley Perrette confided that there was more than one reason for this decision.
“When you’re on a sitcom, you work four days a week. You do a couple table reads, you do it in front of an audience, and then you go home.

NCIS fans never wanted to see Mark Harmon leave the series as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Harmon was a staple as Gibbs from season 1. And while the series left it open for his possible return, we have yet to hear of any concrete plans to bring him back. Oddly enough, after Harmon permanently left the series, NCIS showrunners didn’t remove him from the opening credits for nearly a year. Here’s why.
Why ‘NCIS’ didn’t remove Mark Harmon from the credit immediately
Mark Harmon played Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS for 19 seasons before calling it quits. Fans adored the character and weren’t sure if the show would survive without him. And it seemed like NCIS showrunners also didn’t want to say goodbye to Gibbs straight away. It took them 11 months to remove Harmon from the opening credits of the show.
Fans likely remember how the show left Gibbs.

For two decades, NCIS has been keeping viewers entertained with its signature mix of humor and high-stakes drama. The CBS series about a team of agents with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service premiered in 2023 and is heading into its 21st season (just as soon as the cast can get back to work). It’s also spawned multiple spinoffs, including a first-ever international version, NCIS: Sydney, debuting later this year. But the show – and by extension, the entire NCIS universe – could have looked very different if the series creators initially envisioned came to fruition.

Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia — Pictured: Danny DeVito as Frank. Cr: Patrick McElhenney/FX. When It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia first aired in 2005, Danny DeVito was not part of the original cast. He was brought on for the show’s second season at the insistence of the network, which didn’t sit well with the show’s stars, at first. Perhaps that’s why DeVito’s character was given so many excruciatingly terrible things to do on the show. Far from being repulsed by the scripts and the stunts, though, DeVito eagerly played along. While DeVito was eventually embraced by everyone on the show, the writers’ penchant for putting him in bad situations never ceased, and DeVito told us that’s perfectly fine with him. Cr: Patrick McElhenney/FX. Philadelphia is an old city, having served as the first capital of the United States until Washington, DC was established in 1800. It’s a city that’s proud of its heritage, its culture, and, occasionally, even its sports teams. So, how does It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fit into the fabric of such an historic metropolis? After all, its characters aren’t exactly Philadelphia’s most upstanding citizens. In spite of that, Rob McElhenney and Danny DeVito feel like the city’s reputation has only been enhanced by the show. Season 16 of Fxx’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will premiere on June 7, 2023 with the release of the season’s first two episodes. New episodes will arrive on Wednesdays at 10pm Et/Pt.
The critically acclaimed comedy holds the title of the longest-running live-action comedy in television history. Way back in December 2020, FX Networks bestowed early seasons 15, 16, 17, and 18 orders on the half-hour comedy, and the series booted The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet out of the top spot with its season 15 debut.
Series creator Rob McElhenney joked about his master plan for the series back in Dec. 2020. “When we first pitched Sunny, we saw it as a 36-season arc,” said McElhenney. “We are so excited to be halfway there.”

No sitcom embodies the spirit of Philadelphia sports fans more than It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The raucous, ill-mannered gang bleeds for Philadelphia sports — particularly the Phillies in the MLB, and the Eagles in the NFL. They’ve concocted riot punch, climbed through sewer tunnels, and racked up parking fines when the Phillies won the World Series, and rode in questionable transportation to watch the Eagles play in the 2018 Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
All that makes sense when the cast is playing their characters from the show given how Philly-centric the series is. But a few of the stars are Philadelphia fans in real life, too. While It’s Always Sunny capitalized on the sports teams’ successes in the past, their real-life counterparts were pretty thrilled about it, too. Here’s who will be celebrating the Eagles’ return to Super Bowl 57.

There’s a lot to love about FX’s Welcome to Wrexham docuseries, and non-football fans will certainly tune in just to see what Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were thinking when they bought the struggling Red Dragons. Reynolds and McElhenney are indeed entertaining, but what’s guaranteed to grab viewers is the sheer joy of victory mixed with the utter agony of defeat experienced by the fine citizens of Wrexham as they cheer on their struggling hometown football team.
Anyone who’s ever rooted for a losing team knows what it feels like to continue to hang onto hope that one day things will turn around. One day a miracle will occur, and all those losing seasons will become distant memories. In 2020, Wrexham fans were asked to consider if Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney’s (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) interest in purchasing the third...

Believe. That motto, so familiar to Ted Lasso fans, also applies to FX’s Welcome to Wrexham, an endearing docuseries that feels like a Hollywood fable. Once upon a time — make that 2020, during the pandemic — two wealthy actors (Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia/Mythic Quest auteur Rob McElhenney) indulge their obsession with sports by purchasing a faded soccer team with a 150-plus-year history in the struggling Welsh village of Wrexham. It’s a town, sighs one of the locals, “that battles against odds constantly.” McElhenney, who grew up in South Philly, identifies with the burg and how fiercely its residents become attached to and identify with their team. Patrick McElhenney/FX Also battling against the odds: the storied Red Dragons, whose home turf is said to be the world’s oldest international football stadium. They’ve been mired in the “football purgatory” of the fifth-tier...
