Izahya Thomas, the 24-year-old social media chef from Miami, Florida was eliminated in fifth place on Thursday’s episode of “Next Level Chef.” The former college football player on Team Gordon Ramsay struggled in the Kombucha Kulture challenge, failing to grab enough ingredients for a Next Level dish. He landed in the elimination round against his teammate Jordan Torrey, where he was sent home in a unanimous vote. Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby above.
“Even though I got eliminated, it also [took] a whole bunch of weight off my shoulders,” Izahya admits. “I just wanted to inspire others. I felt like the viewers watching at home, just watching the journey throughout the whole competition, and in that moment me being eliminated, I know that the viewer at home was inspired and knew, ‘If he’s able to go after his dream so whole-heartedly, I can do it to.

Alexandra Donnadio, the 29-year-old home cook from Hillsborough, New Jersey was eliminated in 12th place on Thursday’s episode of “Next Level Chef.” Despite Team Nyesha Arrington cooking in the top kitchen and earning positive scores for her Asian-inspired New York strip steak tacos, Alexandra found herself up for elimination against Team Gordon Ramsay‘s Jordan Torrey. Watch her exclusive video interview with Gold Derby above.
“I was just looking for that validation from the judges,” says Alexandra. “I finally got it and it wasn’t like I went out on a bad dish. It wasn’t like I screwed something up. I never went to culinary school, so to me it seemed like I was the weakest one there and they just had to put someone into elimination.” Still, she wasn’t quite expecting to go in so quickly. “It was the one dish that all of the judges complimented.

Before dating her, he figured he had a “pretty good palate,” but he didn’t employ it much. When she–fellow content creator Jaclyn Hill–came into his life, though, he realized food “was going to be a love language that we both felt in a real way.”
“Honestly,” he says, “I got my real start just by cooking meals to make her happy. Just out of love.”
Once his repetoire of home-cooking dishes had been built up, it was Hill who encouraged him to get on YouTube. For Farnum (aka Jordan Torrey), it was an expansion of his wheelhouse: he already owned a videography company and was making commercials for major brands,...
