Tyler Hoechlin first appeared as the Arrowverse’s Superman in a handful of episodes of Supergirl season 2. He then didn’t return until last year, when fans’ prayers were answered and he got to meet the Flash and Green Arrow for the first time in the “Elseworlds” crossover. This year, he’ll be back once again for the biggest Arrowverse event of them all, “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” And Hoechlin couldn’t be more excited about it.
The actor attended Fan Expo Canada this weekend and was asked during a panel which of the Arrowverse leads he most likes to work with during the crossovers. “They’re all terrible,” Hoechlin joked before admitting that all his co-stars are a joy to work with, which is the main reason he’s psyched to return in “Crisis.”

This December, the Arrowverse reaches its biggest crossover yet in the form of “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” As well as bringing together the casts of all five CW DC shows – six, actually, including Black Lightning – numerous guest stars from across the DC multiverse will drop by. While we await this must-see event, then, let’s relive a deleted scene from 2018’s Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds.”
If you recall, “Elseworlds” saw Oliver Queen and Barry Allen have their superpowers swapped due to crackpot Arkham Asylum doctor John Deegan’s messing around with reality with the Book of Destiny. The pair traveled to Supergirl’s Earth-38 and got some help from the Girl of Steel as well as her more famous cousin, Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman. And in this newly-released deleted scene, Supes helps Ollie get to grips with his newfound superspeed.

If you checked out last fall’s “Elseworlds” crossover, then you may agree with me in saying it was probably the Arrowverse’s best prime time mashup to date. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the event to be outdone by “Crisis on Infinite Earths” later this year, but let’s not take anything away from this ambitious story arc in the meantime.
By now, I imagine that a percentage of those reading this article have already begun reliving the most recent seasons of DC TV on Netflix, while others may be viewing it for the first time. After all, a sizable chunk of the fanbase waits around until they can binge-watch seasons in full.
As such, we’re about to let you know how to properly experience “Elseworlds.”

Why did the Arrowverse reveal “Crisis on Infinite Earths” as the title of its Fall 2019 crossover event the instant that 2018’s “Elseworlds” came to a close?
Simply said, because it is that big of a deal. In every way.
“It will be the biggest and most complicated [crossover yet],” CW president Mark Pedowitz avowed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Thursday afternoon.
At the very end of “Elseworlds,” Batwoman (played by Ruby Rose) called Oliver Queen from Gotham City, to express her concern about new Arkham Asylum inmate Dr. John Deegan — because, she noted, the man who for a...

The recent Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds” was a huge hit with DC TV fans as it united the heroes of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl together for yet another multiversal thrilling three-part adventure. In fact, it was such a success that The CW will be re-airing it next month.
According to the latest prime-time listings, the network will rerun all three episodes of the crossover over the course of January 7th and 8th, instead of spreading them across a trio of evenings as they did with the original airing earlier in December.
There was a lot to take in during “Elseworlds,” so it’s definitely worth rewatching the event. The central premise of the crossover was that Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen and Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen had swapped identities, due to the reality-warping machinations of cosmic entity the Monitor (Lamonica Garrett) and his stooge Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies...

The final third of the “Elseworlds” crossover gave us a lot to chew on. For starters, the big reveal is that next year’s Arrowverse event will be an adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the most iconic DC comics crossover there is. “Elseworlds” did a great job paving the way for Crisis, too, and one of the most notable ways it did so was Green Arrow’s mysterious deal with the Monitor.
In order to stop Dr. John Deegan – who had transformed himself into a copy of Superman – from warping reality with The Book of Destiny, the Flash and Supergirl came up with a plan to freeze time by pulling a Christopher Reeve and spinning around the world in opposite directions. However, when Superman had previously used the Book, he’d foreseen that this plan would result in the duo’s deaths. Green Arrow convinces Kal-El to have faith...

Ever since we saw a future newspaper headline promising the Flash will go missing in a Crisis back in the fall of 2014, those of us familiar with DC Comics couldn’t help thinking some sort of adaptation for Crisis on Infinite Earths would be in the pipeline. In fact, those suspicions doubled once Supergirl came over from CBS and joined The CW’s Arrowverse family. Don’t forget, she exists on Earth-38.

The Arrowverse’s “Elseworlds” crossover event came to a close on Tuesday night, with what was admittedly the most by-the-numbers installment of the Flash/Arrow/Supergirl three-parter.
The black-suited Superman who confronted Barry and Oliver (aka the criminal “Trigger Twins”) at the end of Part 2 was in fact Dr. John Deegan, having chosen this new form to serve his book-toting god complex. After Barry and Oliver escape SuperDeegan by giving him rugrats to rescue, they seek out Cisco, whom they hope can get them to the true Man of Steel on Earth-38. After John Deegan (Jeremy Davies) got another go at using the Book of Destiny to rewrite reality, the “Elseworlds” finale saw Barry (Grant Gustin) and Oliver (Stephan Amell) facing quite a few drastic changes.
After being depowered, being hunted by the police and facing down a black-suited Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), in the first two parts of the three-episode and three-night event, the finale began with Barry and Oliver trying to talk down another powerful man: Deegan, who had made himself Superman with the Book of Destiny. “Elseworlds” is mostly about bringing the various heroes of the Arrowverse together, but the second part of the three-night crossover event also saw the return of various villains from the franchise’s past as well.
First off, as this was an Arrow episode, we opened on a fight between A.R.G.U.S. and Joe Wilson (Liam Hall), the son of Deathstroke last seen in season 6. As we jump into the middle of the action here, we’re not sure how he came to return to Star City with the intent of killing John Diggle and company. Notably though, he’s got hold of one of his dad’s suits this time around. However, it’s still not enough to best the Flash-powered Oliver Queen.
Later on in the episode, during an altercation amidst a break-out at Arkham Asylum in Gotham, Barry and Oliver are hit with a dose of Scarecrow’s fear gas.

Though we still have one more chapter to go in what’s proving to be one hell of a memorable crossover event, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” could very well go down as the most unforgettable segment. Granted, it was cool to see the heroes of the Arrowverse doing their thing once again, but it’s Ruby Rose’s Batwoman who made the lasting impression.
In short, Gotham City’s new protector showed up in style – and I’m already psyched for her to get her own series. I mean, not only did Rose pull off the character as I’d imagine her to be in live action – and, apparently, a lot of people are in agreement – but she brought more Easter eggs than you could shake an issue of Detective Comics at along for the ride.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Elseworlds, Part 2” the second part of the 2018 “Arrowverse” crossover, which aired Dec. 10.
“Arrow’s” leg of the “Elseworlds” crossover had a little more to think about than “The Flash’s,” mainly because it served as the first introduction to Ruby Rose’s Batwoman. For that, it accomplished its job. Kate Kane aka Batwoman may not have been as prominent a character in the second part of the three-night, three-episode event as originally assumed, but brought with her a lot of intrigue and proved to be a story well to which the DC on the CW series could return, regardless of whether or not she gets her own show down the line.

Rip, body-swapped Oliver and Barry. We'll miss you dearly. Tonight's second part of the three-part Arrowverse crossover did not exactly solve that problem or any problems at all, but it did make a lot of progress and tackle a lot of concepts all at the same time. First of all, Oliver and Barry are no longer swapped, but now they're twins. Specifically criminal twins in matching leather jackets and bandanas. It's somehow possible that the twin looks are even weirder visually than seeing Barry and Oliver in the wrong superhero suits. That's the new reality Dr. John Deegan wrote when the Monitor gave him the book once again and told him to to better, dream bigger than last time. So...

Here’s my pitch: We cancel the individual Arrowverse shows. Instead, we run with a brand new series called Elseworlds. It plays three nights a week, and we get to see all our favorite superheroes team up together and defeat evil from every earth imaginable.
Like The Avengers, but without Thanos!
Ok, maybe having all our heroes in one place on a weekly basis would end up somewhat akin to celebrating Christmas every day—the magic would eventually be lost on us.
A girl can dream though, right?
It’s not to say that Arrowverse shows can't stand on their own two legs. This season, Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash all have all been delivering quality storylines. But there is something so specifically magical about getting to watch these characters’ cross paths with each other.
Even if it only happens once and awhile.

This may sound trivial to the unfamiliar, but when you consider that three Arrowverse series – Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow – all take place on Earth-1 and Supergirl calls Earth-38 home, then you’d better believe it’s important for storytelling reasons.
Well, if you tuned in for the first part of the mega event this evening, then you no doubt remember the cliffhanger that saw Oliver Queen, Barry Allen and Kara Danvers setting course for Gotham City. Long story short, that’s where they’ll need to venture if they’re going to find the guys Cisco saw in a vision, those being the Monitor and John Deegan, the latter of whom was revealed as an Earth-1 resident near the top of the broadcast.

Now that the first chapter in the “Elseworlds” crossover epic is behind us, it’s getting easier to imagine this going down as the Arrowverse’s best mega event to date. Granted, it faces stiff competition in predecessor “Crisis on Earth-x,” but there was so much fan service delivered tonight that it could make your head spin.
Seeing as how this year’s mashup is a bit more personal due to Oliver Queen and Barry Allen trading places as Green Arrow and the Flash, there hasn’t been much need to cram in as many heroes as possible. As such, I very much enjoyed the buddy cop element present throughout tonight’s episode because we seldom see just those two guys working together.
Still, Supergirl and Superman partook in the battle against Amazo, which served as the android’s proper introduction into this continuity (I’m not sure we can...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Elseworlds, Part 1,” the first part of the 2018 “Arrowverse” crossover, which aired Dec. 9.
After past crossovers that introduced beloved characters’ doppelgangers, a wedding and death, “Elseworlds,” the fifth annual “Arrowverse” event, had a lot to which to live up. Unlike previous years, this crossover actually went smaller in scope, featuring only three of the four shared universe DC on the CW series: “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Supergirl.” However, emotionally, the goal was to go deeper, says “Arrow” showrunner Beth Schwartz.
“Elseworlds, Part 1” delivered on that right from the start, with a look at a decimated Earth-90 — a landscape of destruction that included numerous dead villains and 1990s-era Flash (John Wesley Shipp) standing face-to-face with The Monitor (Lamonica Garrett), who threw out a few threats before Flash had a chance to speed off.
The next time the Monitor was seen was on Earth-1, visiting Dr.

We're hunting for all the DC Comics easter eggs in Elseworlds, this year's DC TV Arrowverse crossover.
This article consists of nothing but Elseworlds spoilers.
The 2018 DC TV Arrowverse crossover was a big one! While Legends of Tomorrow didn't join the party this time, The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl took us to multiple (if not quite infinite) Earths to take on The Monitor, Dr. Destiny, Amazo, and other foes. Oh, and we got to meet Batwoman, too. And did we mention Superman and Lois Lane?
Let's get to work on this. If you spot anything we missed, drop it in the comments, or give Mike a shout on Twitter, and we'll update this with more!
But let's just start with the name, shall we? "Elseworlds" was the name of a line of DC Comics that told stories outside the normal continuity. Batman: Gotham by Gaslight,...

While we’ve seen that the Monitor, John Deegan and a black-suited Superman (possibly Superman Prime) will serve as the antagonists in the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover, we’ll no doubt be treated to a variety of Easter eggs pertaining to other DC villains once we get the chance to visit Gotham City.
From the look of it, Cassandra Jean Amell’s Nora Fries will be our gateway to discovery. Aside from likely dropping hints to her onscreen husband, Victor Fries Aka Mr. Freeze, it appears as though she’ll browse some shelves in Arkham Asylum containing trinkets belonging to classic Batman villains.
In fact, at least one memento from a familiar brute was confirmed in the latest gallery of images promoting the three-night event, that being Bane. Seen below, Nora can be glimpsed checking out the mercenary’s mask – and the one sported by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises,...

The CW has released a new full trailer for the highly anticipated Arrowverse “Elseworlds” crossover event, and it offers fans an even better look at what is in store for the series! This next crossover series is kind of bonkers, and I’m really digging it!
The promo features some more new footage of The Flash (Stephen Amell) and Green Arrow (Grant Gustin) trying to navigate the unfamiliar lives they’ve been swapped into. We also see more of Batwoman (Ruby Rose), The Monitor (Lamonica Garrett), and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).
In the series, The Flash and Green Arrow will find themselves going up against Doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davis), who has the "Godlike" ability to reshape reality by The Monitor. This seems to pave the way for the introduction of a villainous version of Superman who is wearing a black suit.

As I’d previously suspected, tonight’s episode of Arrow, “Unmasked,” had dual meaning to its title. Not only did it see Oliver Queen now operating out in the open and officially sanctioned by the Scpd, but it also wasted little time in revealing the face of the new vigilante in town – albeit in private. That’s right, only we the viewers are in on the secret.
For a moment, I thought Katherine McNamara’s new character to be under the hood, but we instead learned she’s contained to the flash forward segments and goes by the name of “Blackstar.” Regardless, suspicions of the new Green Arrow being a woman were validated when actress Sea Shimooka was introduced to DC fans.
If you boast a keen eye, then you may have noticed how Shimooka is now listed among series regulars in the opening credits, so expect to see a...

Right now, it may be too early to label any one person as being the main villain of the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover, but all signs point toward that being the Monitor. After all, the closing moments of last night’s episode of Supergirl did see him decimate Earth-90.
Of course, there’s also Arkham Asylum’s John Deegan, but he looks to be a pawn in the matter. Well, so does the black-suited Superman, but you have to admit that a corrupted Man of Steel sporting darker threads is bound to attract some attention.
As such, much speculation is circling the origin of this rogue powerhouse, as it’s become apparent he’s not the familiar version of Kal-El previously played by Tyler Hoechlin. Naturally, we assume him to come from another universe designate, but as usual, comic books may provide the answer.

By now, you’d think we’ve said all we could about the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover, but it’s arguable there’s more intrigue and excitement going into this particular Arrowverse event than any other to have preceded it. And with just under two weeks to go until the adventure begins, we’ll undoubtedly see more news flooding the web.
So, if you’ve been keeping up with all of the assorted info, then there’s a very good chance you’re having a difficult time deciding what’s the most appealing thing about the mashup. There are so many notable DC characters set to feature in December’s Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds” that it’s hard to keep track of them all. For instance, something that might have slipped your mind is that Nora Fries is due to show up, as played by Arrow star Stephen Amell’s real-life wife Cassandra Jean Amell.
This week, the fan favorite actor shared our first look at Nora in the crossover, and in the process, revealed that this portrayal of Mr. Freeze’s wife will differ in one major way: she won’t be stuck in an ice cube for once. In the photo below, the character’s seen inspecting what looks to be the freeze gun frequently used by her ice-cold husband, going by the label “V. Fries” underneath it.
As Batman fans will know, Nora is typically at the center of Victor Fries’ tragic descent into villainy.

Something sure is wrong with reality. The latest trailer for the Arrowverse's upcoming crossover sheds some new light on what we're about to see and why when the event begins on The Flash, and while yes, things are starting to make a little more sense, we will never get over how weird it is to see Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in that Flash suit, and how weird it is that other people aren't finding it weird. Based on the trailer, it looks like Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies), of Arkham Asylum, is responsible for not just body swapping Barry (Grant Gustin) and Oliver, but for changing reality completely. He appears to be working for The Monitor (Lamonica Garrett) in exchange...

We’re talking, of course, about this year’s Arrowverse crossover, which will be with us next month. Titled “Elseworlds,” there’s so much to look forward to that we’d be here all day if we were to list everything. But as the spectacle quickly approaches, The CW has been getting more and more generous with the marketing material and today, we’ve got the juiciest look at the crossover yet.
Though we’ve already had a few bite-sized promos, this is the first proper trailer for “Elseworlds,” and despite only being about 30 seconds long, it’s packed full of tantalizing teases, intriguing plot details and, of course, a quick shot or two of black suit Superman in action. Frankly, it’s enough to have any fan losing their mind and it’s sure to amp up the excitement to stratospheric heights.

The Flash season 5 continued this week with its sixth episode, “The Icicle Cometh.” As that sounds, its biggest reveals were all to do with Caitlin’s origins, the reveal of her father Thomas Snow and where her Killer Frost alter ego comes from. The storyline also offered up a brief easter egg that will please DC fans, though, as well as potentially setting up what’ll happen in the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover.
When Barry, Caitlin and Cisco track her estranged pops down to his secret hideaway in the North Pole, Thomas already knows the names of his daughter’s pals. There’s lots of awesome Batman-esque iconography on show in just 30 seconds here, as we see Rose’s nocturnal heroine surveying Gotham City from a rooftop, the uncovering of the Bat-signal and Batwoman making – as Deadpool would put it – a “superhero landing” as she drops out of the sky. For now, though, let’s focus on the shot which sees a bunch of lunatic criminals breaking out of Arkham Asylum.

With the next major Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds,” quickly approaching, we’re starting to see the hype machine kick into high gear.
