Important Note: There may be some films that do not become available on the specified dates. This is merely a report of the most accurate release dates I can find, but is not directly confirmed by Netflix themselves.

Mysterious disappearances, linked to city wide power outage, sweep the Detroit area. The few remaining people gather at a neighborhood bar trying to make sense of it all and to make sure that they aren't next by avoiding the dark.
Vanishing on 7th Street doesn't try to overdo, or over complicate or over explain its intriguing premise, because more and likely no matter what kind of explanation is provided, it just won't be good enough for most people. Instead, the film focuses on crafting one suspenseful situation after another and on those terms its a successful film. Vanishing on 7th Street vividly creates a sense of disorientation as the film's protagonists try to avoid becoming the next victims of the escalating frenzy. It features well done sequences that play on the...

Brad Anderson’s “Vanishing on 7th Street” is a chilly little film that slowly creeps under your skin and scares you to death the very moment you begin to think. The director of such thrillers as “Session 9” and “The Machinist,” Anderson is no stranger to speculation — especially when it comes to the disturbed mind, our place in time and whether human beings really can create their own existence and the world(s) they inhabit. Not the post-apocalyptic saga most critics claim, “Vanishing” is an apocalypse-in-the-now, and what’s most frightening is its realism and total possibility.

You can watch the interview here ! In the film, an unexplained blackout plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, and by the time the sun rises, only a few people remain . surrounded by heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. A small handful of strangers that have survived the night each find their way to a rundown bar, whose gasoline-powered generator and stockpile of food and drink make it the last refuge in a deserted city. Vanishing on 7th Street is just a damn shame. It's such a great idea, a brilliant premise -- a little Schrodinger's catty horror flick like something out of a "Tales from the Crypt" or "Masters of Horror," with a terrific look and nifty visuals, that just loses itself in the shitty characterizations. Four actors who have the potential to be terrific are given absolutely the emptiest shells of characters -- instead of reacting instinctually conveniently spout what's necessary in the moment. So the cold-hearted only out for himself reporter suddenly wants to save everyone and then remembers and decides to kill them anyway. The shrill psychologically damaged mother suddenly decides to be religious and hopeful and then doesn't. This may seem like griping, but when you've set up a Night of the Living Dead situation -- everyone trapped in one location from a mysterious danger lurking all around them --...

A new poster has been released today for Brad Anderson’s latest, Vanishing on 7th Street, a Twilight Zone affair which deals with the sudden disappearance of almost everyone on Earth following a huge blackout.
The film had its premiere at Tiff 2010, and stars Thandie Newton, Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo, Taylor Groothuis and Jordan Trovillion.
We’ve covered this one pretty extensively on HeyUGuys, and hopefully we’ll hear more about a UK release pretty soon – the Us is getting it on VOD and in cinemas next month.

Two paranoid clips and one snazzy featurette for Brad Anderson’s “be afraid of the dark, be very afraid!” flick “Vanishing on 7th Street”. Oh sure, it stars Hayden Christensen, but you know, he’s kinda redeemed himself for the “Star Wars” prequels in recent years, right? He was pretty good in “Jumper”, for example. Anyways, check out the clips, people who enjoy checking out clips on movie sites. A mysterious and seemingly global blackout causes countless populations to simply vanish, leaving only their clothes and possessions behind. A small handful of survivors — a reporter (Hayden Christensen), a nurse (Thandie Newton), and a subway operator (John Leguizamo) — must band together in a dimly-lit tavern on 7th Street to combat the apocalyptic horror around them. Realizing they may in fact be the last people on earth, the darkness hones in on them. Starring Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo, Taylor Groothuis,...

Magnet Releasing has launched their official trailer for Brad Anderson’s Vanishing On 7th Street that stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo, Jacob Latimore and Taylor Groothuis. The plot sounds a lot like a combination between when the blackout occurred in NYC several years ago and the movie I Am Legend with Will Smith. Synopsis: When a massive power outage plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, a disparate group of individuals find themselves alone. The entire city’s population has vanished into thin air, leaving behind heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. Soon the daylight begins to disappear completely, and as the survivors gather in an abandoned tavern, they realize the darkness is out to get them, and only their rapidly diminishing light sources can keep them safe Related Posts:a New Trailer for Vanishing On 7th Street Appears from the DarknessMagnet Releasing Takes on...

Point blank: I’ll watch anything that Brad Anderson releases, which is why I was pretty stoked to learn that Magnet is picking up Us distribution rights for the insanely talented director’s upcoming thriller “Vanishing on 7th Street”. The film, which stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo, Taylor Groothuis, Jordan Trovillion, Arthur Cartwright, and Jacob Latimore, chronicles the exploits of a group of individuals who are curious as to what, precisely, happened to the rest of the human population. Apocalyptic tomfoolery ensues. In other words, I’m pumped. Here’s what Anderson had to say about the acquisition: Vanishing on 7th Street is an apocalyptic thriller about the end of the world and it could not be placed in better hands than with Magnet Releasing, whose expertise in distributing genre films is par none, I am excited to be working with them to bring the film to audiences across the country.

Toronto -- On the heels of his buddy cop comedy "The Other Guys," Will Ferrell's "Everything Must Go" from Temple Hill Entertainment is to debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Dan Rush's low budget dramedy, based on a Raymond Carver short story, sees Ferrell play a recovering alcoholic who falls off the wagon, is tossed from both his job and home, and must survive on his front lawn by selling his belongings in a yard sale.
