By the time the curtain rang down on CBS’ “The Judy Garland Show” on March 29, 1964, the musical variety show had, in just one season, three producers and three different formats. Despite good reviews from critics and Judy Garland’s devoted fan base, the series wasn’t felled by the mercurial Garland being difficult but by the Cartwrights — Ben, Little Joe, Adam, and Hoss — of NBC’s ratings powerhouse “Bonanza.”
Though “The Judy Garland Show” was cancelled after one season, it certainly has lived on over the past six decades. The show was included in TV Guide’s 2013 list of 60 series that were “Cancelled Too Soon.” It certainly was the series that got away. Not only was the mercurial Garland in top (and emotional) voice, but the show also featured a powerhouse of guest stars from her frequent leading man Mickey Rooney, Ray Bolger from “The Wizard of Oz” and newcomers such as Barbra Streisand.

The BBC has greenlit its latest drama series from Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright along with projects created by and starring the likes of Jenna Coleman, Nicôle Lecky and Sacha Dhawan.
Set in Happy Valley home Hebden Bridge, Wainwright’s Hot Flush centers on the lives of five women of a certain age who come together to create a makeshift, butt-of-the-joke punk-rock band in order to enter a talent contest. When they rehearse together, they suddenly discover that they have a lot more to say than they ever imagined, and they have found the way to say it.
Wainwright had previously cryptically teased Hot Flush when she told the BBC’s Today program she had been learning the drums in preparation for her next project, and she described it as a “celebration of women of a certain age and all the life-stuff they suddenly find themselves negotiating/dealing with.”

Well, it's about time! The late actor, novelist and humorist, Carrie Fisher, will finally receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a posthumous ceremony that will take place on Star Wars Day, May the 4th. When Fisher passed away suddenly just after Christmas day in 2016, a fan-made star appeared on Hollywood and North Orange Drive to serve as a makeshift memorial to the screen legend where onlookers and tourists started to gather to pay their respects. The star read, "Carrie Fisher. May the Force be with you always. Hope." Now, Fisher will be honored with an official star on Hollywood Boulevard just down the street from the El Capitan Theater.
Fittingly, Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd (who shared the screen with her mother in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy) will be accepting the star on her behalf. Fisher's own mother, Debbie Reynolds, received her own star on the...
