- Moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Dan Martinez has broken onto the film-scoring scene as a fresh new voice in film music. His compositions have been featured internationally, on television, and in feature films. Directors and producers value his unique understanding of story, his collaborative disposition, and his dynamic musical range, providing their films with a musical identity that set them apart. His music tends to be strong thematically, and use a variety of colorful instruments to enhance the picture.
His early career as a jazz pianist led him to performances in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. He has been featured performing with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony, and with renowned singers Mandy Gaines and Nina Ferro. Since relocating to Los Angeles, Dan has brought a professional musical voice to a number of independent feature films, short films, and web series. His three first feature film scores were completed in 2010, and will be released in 2011. In addition, Dan is working on numerous web series as a composer. He wrote the music for the commercial "Russell's Notebook" which won grand prize at the most recent contest at GoDaddy.com. He has had pieces featured on MTV and NBC.
Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. There he studied a variety of music styles and production skills. He is trained in composition, orchestration, conducting, performance, and sound engineering. He also attended the Aspen Music Festival Film Scoring program in 2009, having the opportunity to study with Jeff Rona, Jack Smalley, and Marco Beltrami.
