- Additional Crew
Sylvain Pedneault is a full-time professional fire photographer, also
appointed official fire department photographer for 14 departments in
the greater Montreal area. He holds multiple firefighter certifications
and numerous other credentials throughout the firefighting and fire
photography communities. Sylvain Pedneault's work is featured weekly on
www.FireLens.com, his official and exclusive web site which holds about
40,000 photographs of fires and emergency situations.
Sylvain Pedneault made his entrance into the world of fire photography in 2002. Initially as an amateur with very little knowledge on the subject, he quickly discovered that this activity could become a serious and professional "technical art". Thus in 2004, he wrote and published the Quebec Fire Photographers Code of Conduct. These efforts for the professionalization of fire photography quickly earned him a prominent place in the world of firefighting in Quebec and have resulted in the recognition of his peers at the international level, including his appointment as Canadian representative to the International Organization of Fire Photographers.
In 2005, M. Pedneault's work on the promotion of professionalism, ethics and respect in fire photography got him appointed official photographer and honorary firefighter for the City of St. Hyacinthe Fire Department. More recently, he received similar appointments in more than a dozen other fire departments.
Having health and safety at the heart - and wishing to enhance his knowledge of firefighting - he devoted efforts during the last years to get formal firefighting training. In recent years he consequently accumulated multiple certifications of qualification issued by the National Firefighting Academy of Quebec, Canada (Firefighter II, Hazmat, Vehicle extrication, pumper operator, etc..).
Today, Sylvain Pedneault works as a full-time professional fire photographer, providing a wide range of fire photography services to fire departments, firefighter training schools and instructors, fire equipment manufacturers, government agencies, news and other media agencies, and more.
